Doesn't look like you can use the screen AND a TV at same time, so maybe no Wii U backwards compatibility. (but could be possible with multiple units) Hopefully games can be "shared" between multiple units for multiplayer.

hope it's not the same deal as the GC -> Wii

Francis

The games shown were interesting too.. looked like a new Super Mario game set in a desert town (Sunshine sequel?). And that Mario Kart was /not/ Mario Kart 8, because the players had two item slots. It's possible we could have new Zelda, Super Mario, Splatoon, and Mario Kart at launch

I feel like the Switch is the NX...

Doopliss

By jove I think he's got it

StarletSkarlet

The Switch looks like a mix of the Wii U, Wii and Xbox One.

3You know, they could easily sell a "Wii U Player" attachment that is basically a compact Wii U that uses the Switch as the Gamepad (assuming the Switch has a touchscreen).

I think they over-exaggerated its connectivity distance...

Francis

connectivity to what? It's like a Gameboy. That can also plug into your TV

StarletSkarlet2

I mean in the trailer it shows the guy still using it on an airplane, presumably miles from the console. The Wii U had problems connecting to the gamepad even if you were just a couple goddamn feet away. What I mean is the Switch's gamepad is either being over-exaggerated in it's connectivity, or the gamepad might be a console itself.

Francis1

Yep, the gamepad is the console itself. The dock is just to make it easier to hook up to your TV. ***mind blown*** I wish they could have done a reverse Wii U and beamed the video wirelessly to the TV, but I guess that would destroy battery life. Maybe next time?

StarletSkarlet

Hmmm...

i'm freakin stoked

This actually looks pretty schweet. The ad is pretty cheesy though.

Or start allowing us to pair the Gamepad with the Switch for multiplayer with someone who doesn't have a Switch... ?

Spoon

Maybe a 3DS player, Nintendo needs to continue those gameboy players that SNES and GC had. I'd really like that instead of releasing them on VC, just like the DS in Wii U.
