that topic was way too big and we can't get shit agreed on so let's just keep it in one post and edit the post when we want to change something so we're all on the same page

Each new user starts with 100 HP, 10 MP, 10 coins
A user can post up to five times per day to get a coin
(Restrictions may apply: not in the same topic, not within 5 minutes of each other, not deleted post)
Item or item parts may be found with site use, browsing, posting
At least one post (Or similar must be made before finding items)
Cannot find more items until current items are claimed
Items can damage, heal, or absorb HP, MP, inflict status, affect Digi forums
Examples:
Poison Mushroom: -10 HP
Green Potion: +10 MP
Dizzy Dial: Confusion status (Chance for attack to fail)
Searchlight: bring it back francis

Item Parts can be applied to a base item, which can be bought
More expensive / rare base items can hold more item parts
Different varieties (Equip, defense, attack, support)

-----

BASE ITEM: Bomb
Item slots: 2
Base damage: 5
Conditions: None

ITEM PART: Boo Fang (1 use)
Half damage returned as health
ITEM PART: Fire Spices (3 uses)
20 damage + Fire Attribute

Bomb that does 25 fire damage, 12 HP returned
Fire Spices can be applied to 2 more items

-----

Defense items: When attacked, the item in your defense queue reacts
Fire Shield - Negates 50 points of fire damage, 25 neutral
Boo's Sheet - 50% chance of avoiding attack
Reflector - Half damage taken is dealt back to opponent
(Items may not be as overpowered as this. These will probably be rarer.)
(Items may disappear after a certain amount of uses or damage)

------

Equip items: Increase stats, prevent status, give abilities
Defense Plus - Decrease damage by 2
HP Up - Increase HP by 10
Life Shroom - Auto-revive when killed
Black Bean - Chance for poison to be inflicted against attacker

-----

HOW BATTLES / ITEM-USING WORKS

Somebody uses an item on you or attacks you. Your defense queue reacts. The opponent cannot attack again until you have chosen an action. You can choose to do nothing or take a turn against your opponent. You may use an item back on your opponent, in which the rounds would continue going on until one of you gives up, dies, or you reach an agreement / trade / bribe.

-----

Elements
Water -> Fire -> Air -> Earth?
Fire <-> Ice | Thunder <-> Water
Fire = Water = Earth = Whatever
(Do we really need elemental triangles if characters aren't augmented? If anything, the character could just inherit an elemental weakness under a status or something.)a

you know I was pretty much saying exactly this the other day, so yeah I'm on board

I was thinking it was free to make your own base items and could put an infinite amount of parts in them. More fun that way.
Reply by Fortran Jul 19 2012 23:43 GMT
If you could put an infinite amount of parts on an item, you could have ten different parts that do an insane amount of damage and insta-kill anybody in one turn. Also, since base items basically do nothing without parts, what's the point of making them?
Reply by Viddd Jul 19 2012 23:51 GMT
Hm, that's a good point actually. Maybe then I guess base items with a lot or even infinite slots could be rare or cost a lot of coins? I just like the idea of working hard to forge a really powerful item. The point of making base items is just for fun because that's all we're going to do with it anyway is goof around in it.
Also are we getting badges?

I say limit it to two combinations to make the type disgretion much simlire on the programmers part, because if you conbine like 18 diffrent items then how will the system decide what type the item is? unless you all want to map out every possible outcome for every user made object.
I was thinking something along a distinct "model number" generated for each individual item, no matter if they are two of the same type (user has two pie bombs, pie bomb a: 45116204, pie bomb b: 56327916). the combination of these model numbers will generate the item based on type relation and numerical relation. simple to program, simple to match up, no complex item trees. and infinite user created items(as in infinite original item(franis-blade, pie bomb) would be possible because you wouldn't have to re-map out the combination tree for every new item.

What's there to complicate? It's simple addition and subtraction. You add a part that does 20 damage, and you add a part that does 10 damage. It turns into an item that does 30 damage. It doesn't count the parts separate; it becomes its own item. Attributes like absorbing would be added to the item. There's no complex item trees or anything. Any conflicts would be handled by either cancelling each other out or whatever ability has priority, and there's not going to be many conflicts outside of elemental attributes or special cases.

no but what make the pie +bomb = pie bomb, the values don't matter.
if you don't define object relations and combination states then you end up with pie + bomb = elephant dildo

If we do apply a crafting system, I think we should be able to craft item parts together to create full items, or have useless items for that purpose.

Base items are just a base. They don't need to be a bomb or anything, they're just in place so you can add parts to them. Kinda going off what Shadoo posted, you're the one who's creating the item. You don't really think we're going to make individual names and pictures for every item combination, do you?

Let's just call base items BASE ITEM - [ATTACK] and similar. The creators have freedom to create whatever the hell they want to call it and make it whatever they want to make it look like.

Also, I'd imagine base items that have one to three slots being somewhat common, while bases with five or six slots being much rarer. It would be much harder to craft an instant-kill item, or a combination of items that work well together.

So in regards to making parts, how will that work? Will francis just add a batch and it'll be like that forever, or will we be able to submit ideas and vote on them, or what?
Reply by Fortran Jul 20 2012 00:55 GMT
probably add a batch because it's francis's game and he probably doesn't want us *crag*ing around with it
unless this is the forum we're talking about then still yeah probably a batch because francis would be too lazy to try and keep up with the adding of user content even if we did vote on it
francis is the capcom of obscure forum creators
Reply by Super-Claus Jul 20 2012 00:59 GMT
Probably just submit ideas to Francis in a topic. It'll be a miracle if we get even this done. If we want this to even be a thing, we're going to need to make all the parts, effects, and pictures ourselves.
Fun.

also vid I absolutely love the drawing in the OP it is the best thing ever
Reply by Fortran Jul 20 2012 04:02 GMT
the digimon thing sounds stupid
some people may not have even watched/played/whatever that
it would get old anyway
Reply by Nastasia Jul 20 2012 04:59 GMT
nas it was a joke
as in a play at people in which humor was involved
it fell flat on it's face
Reply by Super-Claus Jul 20 2012 05:02 GMT
so is there anything any of you are gonna add
because it seems like we're all in agreeance and we could move straight to ideas
Reply by Viddd Jul 20 2012 22:51 GMT
We need a way to change digibutter in the future without Francis' help so it doesn't get exceedingly boring. What if we added scripts to digibutter and moderators (if we get any) have to approve them?
Reply by Fortran Jul 20 2012 23:03 GMT
customizable base stats for users
Depending on if BP or similar was added, that would be cool to have changeable base stats, leveling, or stat-boosting items. That means we'd have to go past just HP and MP to make it worthwhile, though.

guys I wrote some part/badge ideas down. http://pastebin.com/hQU06eV2
Reply by Fortran Jul 21 2012 00:08 GMT

Cool stuff. I'm liking the ideas. By the way, are these generic enough for bases? I whipped up something quickly that might work.
