A portion of an NWR review… In the end, TMNT: Smash Up has tough competition, with Super Smash Bros. Brawl still being a popular choice for gamers. While its flaws prevent it from being a serious contender, the game is a surprisingly fun and a solid effort that fans shouldn’t miss. It may try a bit [...]

A portion of a GameZone review… Those who approach Smash-Up hoping for a solid, enjoyable alternative to Smash Bros. will be pleased, but Turtles fans hoping for a celebration of the franchise will probably be disappointed by the game’s shameful “scratch the surface” approach to Eastman and Laird’s storied 25-year-old franchise.

The other day, we told you about the Cyber Shredder unlock in TMNT: Smash-Up. If you didn’t manage to get your code sent via email from the official site, you can check out the input code below which will allow you access to the alternate costume. To perform the unlock, select the Bonus Content option [...]

Cruising the Ubisoft Twitter, as we are wont to do, we stumbled upon this little update. According to said update, registering TMNT: Smash Up with Ubisoft will grant players access to a code to unlock Shredder and Cyber Shredder as playable characters. Checking out the veracity of this claim -- as we are also wont to do -- we discovered that the official Smash Up site has already publicly posted the code. We're not sure where the marketing wires got crossed, but it benefits us all, so we're not complaining. To perform the unlock, select the Bonus Content option and enter the following: Up, Down, Right, Up, Down, Right, Left, Up, Right, Down. Don't get to excited, though. Cyber Shredder is just a different costume for normal Shredder, so don't expect a whole new character to flesh out the game's unfortunately puny roster.

Gameplay and presentation is almost identical to Smash Bros (it was made by the same team). No lag online though! If you have it, let's fight: 4769-6847-0134

A portion of a 1up review… The turtles return to a solid fighting game, though some parts of it come off a little half-shelled.

The forums for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up have exploded with angry threads started, apparently, by people who purchased the game early at Best Buy. The rage is almost universally directed at the rather small character roster -- which features thirteen characters from the TMNTworld, and three different Rabbids. While there's nothing particularly novel about a bunch of people complaining on the internet, the uproar does mean that we think it's worth telling you, the members of our audience who have yet to complain on the Ubi forums, about the smallish roster. Basically, if you were going into this with dreams of pitting Baxter Stockman and Usagi Yojimbo against Krang, then you might want to rethink going into this.[Thanks, Man in the Back!]

Also, for those wondering, it sounds like there are quite a few ‘Rabbid’ unlockable characters. I thought it would just be one, but apparently Ubisoft crammed a few in there!

We showed a video like this not too long ago, but this one is slightly different. Better to bone up now, than to get your ass kicked on launch day! Direct link here (thanks Prem!)
