A portion of a 4Gamer interview with Aonuma...

4Gamer: How is the new Wii U title coming along?

Eiji Aonuma: Of course it's moving along. We also have to reflect on what we did with Wind Waker for our next title. Since Wind Waker HD was a remake, there were limits to what we could do with the Wii U GamePad, but for a new title, we can utilize it to the fullest.

4Gamer: So people who have played Wind Waker HD can expect some of those elements to carry over onto the next game.

Eiji Aonuma: I believe so. For example, on the Wii U GamePad, you have a map display on the screen. This map isn't just for the sea, it's also for other locations as well. We will reflect on these sort of things for a new game.

Oct. 17, 2013 - NEW YORK -- StreetPass NYC, the largest unofficial Nintendo 3DS fan club in the United States of America, celebrated the New York Comic Con 2013 weekend at the Jacob Javits Center with various memorable fan-run events that will make the convention's eighth year one for the New York video game history books.

The festivities started on October 11th at 11:00 PM EST with a once in a life time announcement that shocked all the Pokemon Trainers at the Pokemon X & Y Launch (located at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center New York); a surprise proposal of marriage from StreetPass Long Island Co-Founder "Jeff Weinstein" to Co-Founder "Debbie Lee Gluzband" on the main stage in front of hundreds of Nintendo gamers lined up to purchase the game at midnight.

Let's say you want to see everything there is to see in Skylanders: SWAP Force. That means you're going to have to buy some figurines. Just how much will you have to spend in order to access every bit of content that's locked away? Our friend Andrew Eisen did the dirty work to find out the lowest possible cost.

Starter Pack - $74.99
Rattle Shake - $15.99
Magna Charge - $15.99
Free Ranger - $15.99
Hoot Loop - $15.99
Stink Bomb - $15.99 (not available at launch)
Rubble Rouser - $15.99 (not available at launch)
Any Giants character - $14.99
Sheep Wreck Adventure Pack - $24.99 (not available at launch)
Tower of Time Adventure Pack - $24.99
Fiery Forge Battle Pack - $24.99

Total: $260.89

So yeah...if you picked up Skylanders SWAP Force, be prepared to never see some content...or lose a lot of cash!

An issue has been found with the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games, released for Nintendo 3DS on 12th October 2013. After the player saves the game in certain areas and then reloads the save file, the controls may become unresponsive.
Please follow the instructions below in order to avoid this problem.
For players who are already experiencing this issue, please be aware that we are currently preparing an application to fix it, and will make it available to download from Nintendo eShop as soon as it is ready. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The Problem
In some rare cases, if the player saves the game in certain areas of Lumiose City (see below map), then ends the game, the controls will not respond when the saved game is reloaded.

How to Avoid This
Please make sure you don’t save the game while in the areas marked on the map below (blue area). You can still save the game anywhere else in Lumiose City, including inside buildings such as Pokémon Centers.

Solution for Players Already Experiencing this Problem
We are preparing an application to recover saved game data for players whom this has happened to. This will be made available to download from Nintendo eShop as soon as possible.

We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience and ask you to please keep an eye on our website over the coming days for the latest information and updates.

A portion of a Medium interview with Brjann Sigurgeirsson...

Geek Empire: What was the game like before you reworked it?

B.S.: It was quite strict — you had to dig down in a zigzag pattern in order to be able to get up again. We noticed how our polite testers held out for a while, but were noticeably bored after an hour or two. We decided to scrap the “dig intelligent” approach, and let people dig the way they saw fit. We also got a few “What am I supposed to do now?” reactions, which was mildly alarming, and we realized we would need milestone areas in the game — predesigned caves and friendly, non-intrusive hints at what to do next.

From the beginning, we also had heavy tutorials, and they were no fun. It could be a “this is how you use your speed boots” segment, which really intruded on the experience. Or, at the very start of the game, instructions on how to move and mine. We realized after a while that they weren’t needed — people would get it! Instead, once you got a new upgrade, we could present the player with an obstacle that could only be dealt with using the new upgrade, and give a super-tiny hint of the button combination needed to activate it.

Here's how the casting call relates to Deus Ex: Human Revolution...

- The project is being filmed in Montreal.
- Character's name is Hiroshi Saito.
- Is an "Illuminati Shadow Agent".
- Infiltrating "Augmented Rights Coalition".

Not a confirmation, but certainly seems plausible. Don't expect Square-Enix to talk about this one.

Just as we talked about earlier this week, it looks like the Nintendo side of Batman games were going to be pushed back slightly. Now Warner Bros. has confirmed the delay, stating that both Batman: Arkham Origins (Wii U) and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (3DS) will be releasing on Nov. 8th.

Yes, we’ve been quiet, but only because we’ve been busy. Of course, we’re still active on Twitter and our official Facebook page, and always watching the comments here on our Kickstarter page and elsewhere on the net (like the unofficial tumblr, still an everyday stop!), but -- as promised -- the official updates have become fewer and farther between since we’ve been heads-down hard at work fleshing out the rest of the design and pre-production work for Mighty No. 9. Of course, that includes sketching out our community plans, including our upcoming official site!

But more on that next time. What we’re here to talk about today are the digital rewards we’ve been offering via PayPal. As we mentioned in our previous update, we’ve been able to continue offering all of our digital rewards on our PayPal site beyond the end of the Kickstarter campaign -- but only for a limited time. And as it happens, that limited time is about to reach its end. Today, we can announce that we’ll be ending sales of the PayPal digital rewards this Monday, Oct. 21st, at 9:09 pm PDT as we prepare for the transition over to our official site next month. Will any of these rewards ever return, a la carte? Hard to say right now, but even if they would, it wouldn’t be at these cheaper, Kickstarter-bundle-level prices, so if you’re on the fence, we recommend gettin’ in while the gettin’s good! (And again, it’s only good for a couple more days!)

Earlier today, we showed you Nintendo's suggestion for avoiding the Lumiose City save glitch. The even better news is that Nintendo knows about the bug and is out to release a patch for it. They say the patch should hit the 3DS eShop in Japan in just a few days. Hopefully we can expect the same treatment.

Look at all that information Siri gives out when you ask her about Pokemon types! Holy crap, that's pretty useful for a novice like me! Just ask Siri what type of Pokemon any Pokemon is and she'll spit out info like this. Well isn't that just awesome!

While Nintendo hasn't issued a patch to fix Pokemon X/Y's Lumiose save bug, they have put out a helpful image. According to Nintendo, you shouldn't save your game when standing in the blue areas.

The following domain names were registered by Namco Bandai Europe.

shortpeace-game.com, tenkai-knights-game.com, wwvs-game.com, narutorevolution-game.com, pacmanghostlyadventures2.com, one-piece-unlimited-world-red.com, awakened-legends-game.com, and awakened-legends-vs.com.

Wow, Namco Bandai already grabbed a domain for a sequel to Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. I guess they're pretty sure the first title is going to do well! On top of that, you can see that Namco Bandai has plans to continue on with publishing/localizing anime brands like Naruto and One Piece.

Sources told Rock Paper Shotgun that the studio was "essentially" done for. And while Take-Two was said to have moved some staff over to Rod Fergusson's new Bay Area 2K studio, the site's contacts offered different interpretations of how many people managed to stay employed that way. One said 2K Marin employees would have had preferential treatment when seeking jobs at the new shop, but another suggested few benefited from it.
