Wondering if Nintendo's decision to halt Wii production in Japan means the same for the states? Here's a Nintendo rep telling us not to worry.

"The announcement that the Wii console has been discontinued is specific to Japan. There is no change in the status of Wii in the United States, and it is available for purchase this holiday season."

The following comes from a PocketGamer interview with Terraria dev, Redigit...

"I am wanting to code Terraria 2 in a more portable language so it can be released on multiple platforms at launch or close to launch. 3DS is something I was very interested in getting Terraria on but the system unfortunately cannot run Terraria the way it needs to be ran."

There are plans to bring the title to consoles, so maybe a Wii U version could happen at some point.

A portion of a Game Informer interview with Traveller's Tales' Andy Dolan...

GI: First, I have to say you guys have done an extraordinary job with Lego Marvel Super Heroes. I’ve played each of the Lego games since the first Lego Star Wars, and this is by far the biggest and most interesting character roster yet. Not only does the game have an incredibly deep selection of characters, but those characters are filled with unique little details. You probably didn’t need to give Sandman a unique ranged attack (turning into the sand cannon) or have Mr. Fantastic turn into a teapot, but I appreciated it as a player. Am I correct in saying this game has been your most ambitious from a character standpoint?

AD: Without a doubt the most ambitious game to date. When I first started on this game I was so excited, I'm a massive Marvel fan and I couldn’t believe I was getting to work on a game with all these cool characters. And then it dawns on you, "How on earth are we gonna do all these characters justice?" Characters like Sandman, Gambit, Daredevil… They're all so loved by the fans, including myself and the team. You don’t want to let anyone down, and you want to make them as cool as they possibly can be. We have had games with large numbers of characters before, but what really struck me was how diverse these characters are. They all have a unique ability or a weapon or a character trait that makes them a bit different from everyone else. In a way that's great, because you want to make them unique, but it does mean a lot of work. And at the end of the day that's what it comes down to, a lot of hard work from some extremely talented animators who really care about what they are doing. And that's where these touches come from – it’s a love of the characters from the whole team.

Planning on downloading the next Professor Layton adventure on 3DS? If so, you'll have to make sure you have enough room for the game to call home. We've learned that you'll need to have 7,309 blocks/914MB clear in order to download the game from the eShop, so get to clearing now!

The stats have been sifted, the numbers have been crunched. Statistically, the best starter you can choose in Pokemon Red/Blue is Squirtle. I'm sure some of you might think differently!

The following info comes from a 4Gamer interview with Pokémon art director Ken Sugimori and director Tetsuya Watanabe.

On microtransactions

“When it comes to business, the one thing I’ve always said ‘no!’ to is ‘the act of buying Pokémon with money.’ That is something that has been said since the days [Satoshi] Tajiri was completely involved in everything. The reason being, is because it’s one of things that could ‘ruin the worldview’ of Pokémon. I believe the reason we don’t simply commercialize [Pokémon], is that it’s a way of protecting the brand, and for this purpose, we have the specialty company called The Pokémon Company. Therefore, suppose we sell a Pokémon for 100 yen, then we must prepare something that is worthy of that 100 yen, along with a reasonable consent for doing so.” - Sugimori

On why it's permitted for them to give away legendary Pokémon for fans at movie events

“That plan came to be after we thought ‘now, this is fun’ about the idea of having the experience of a Pokémon who was featured in the movie you just saw, appear out of the big screen. After trying it out, we had plenty of thoughts [on the matter] and it was well received, and we also had a lot to talk about. It’s not that we only want to distribute [Pokémon], but we want to give our customers a taste of a ‘new experience.’ Whatever we do, we make sure it fits the worldview, and make sure it remains consistent. Those are some of the parts we place a great amount of importance into.” - Sugimori

On remaining consistent with art

“For example, if you’re wondering about how the idea of ‘walking around having your Pokémon inside a Poké Ball’ came to be, it’s because the ‘vision of having monsters following your character’ was actually quite difficult to perform for the Game Boy hardware. However, it was strange to not have a reason for why there’s nothing behind you, so it was the decision of ‘then let’s just put them in your pocket!’ that made it possible. I’d say that closely tying the game’s structure and its worldview is our way of doing things.” - Sugimori

On future paid DLC

“If we ever get the idea of ‘this could be fun if we could sell it for real-life money,’ or something similar during the planning of a future game, then perhaps we could sell them for 100 yen.” - Sugimori
“The game Darumeshi Sports Shop we recently released, is very interesting. The game itself allows you to lower the price you pay. I thought the idea behind it was amusing, and the system of having payments be part of the game itself, was a very nice experiment.” - Watanabe

A portion of C3 review...

Blake Robinson has produced another cohesive and sublime collection of Chrono Trigger arrangements that stay close to the source material but add a rich refinement and some improvisation to act as a rewarding celebration of the classic RPG, it's well worth a listen or three.

Just like our friends in Europe, both Batman: Arkham Origins and Blackgate have suffered from a delay. This delay is actually slightly better than Europe, since gamers down under only have to wait until Nov. 6th for release. That beats Europe by 2 days.

Bionic Commando ReMixed: OK, We'll Groove is the 44th album published by OverClocked ReMix, and arranges Harumi Fujita and Junka Tamiya's music from Bionic Commando, released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It features twelve artists arranging twelve songs with enough gusto and bionic emissions to melt a robotic moose, similar to dropping an ice cube in a bucket full of battery acid. We assembled our forces to combat evil, further our technological advances, and put an end to nefarious Nazi plots once and for all.

Prepare for some old-fashioned modern justice!

I can't deny Hometown Story has charm with its premise and I love the ideas, but the execution needs work. Owning a shop should be more frantic and rewarding. If the developer, Toybox, can smooth out the rough edges, it may one day match the lure of simulation games like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. Sadly, it's not in the same league.

The changes and additions in Director's Cut probably aren't enough to entice those who've already played the original, but it's the ideal version for first-timers.
