The following comes from a Famitsu interview with Ken Sugimori and Takao Unno.

"My first gut reaction is 'Oh, man, it's finally out. I say that because, since all the Pokemon are 3D models this time, we had to finalize the designs at a pretty early point in development. Most of the design team's work was completed by the end of 2012. With the game taking place in a Europe-inspired setting, Masuda told us to avoid coming up with concepts straight out of our own minds, but to fully examine source material and such before putting pen to paper. We did things like visit France in order to get the full atmosphere of the area into the game." - Sugimori
"It was easier in some ways to pin down Pokemon designs once we settled on a region. For example, you see wild hares all over the place in the mountains of Europe, so that's what led to the rabbit-influenced Bunnelby. I mean, it was to the point where you'd see rabbit holes butt right up against the road once you went out in the country." - Unno
"I was tasked with designing both Xernaus and Yveltal, and I ran into a total wall in the process. So I gave the task over to [fellow art designer Yusuke] Ohmura for a while, and once he made some headway on it, I took it back over to finish it off. So they were a team effort. I've designed a lot of the legendary Pokemon over the years, but for whatever reason, it was really hard to come up with the concepts this time around. This was the first time I had to field someone else to get me out of my artist's block, so in that respect, those are definitely the two Pokemon that stick out the most in my mind for this project.

Sylveon was by [designer] Atsuko Nishida. Generally speaking, with the straight-on cute Pokemon like that, you can leave those to Nishida and you'll never go wrong that way. What you see in the game is pretty much exactly what she submitted to me; I gave it the OK immediately. I think Nishida definitely has a thing for Eevee in general, so this is a design that's already gone through several iterations in her mind, I'm sure!" - Sugimori
"It took a lot of time. Going 3D for them has been in the back of our minds for a while, but we also all agreed that we didn't want to go 3D if we'd wind up losing Sugimori's artistic touch on the Pokemon in the process. So we stuck with pixel art for a while, but as time went on, I think we naturally started to think that it was time, in terms of our 3D skills and in terms of being able to use the 3D screen as well." - Unno
"If you think about it, going 3D was really a madman's idea. It meant basically throwing away all of our 2D skills. This is kind of tooting our own horn, but with Pokemon Black/White I think we succeeded in getting the pixel art to animate in a more attractive fashion. With that experience in mind, I decided to go ahead with 3D modeling, with the understanding from the team that if we aren't satisfied with the results, we'll quit at that point. So with the help of Creatures, I think we produced results that even the fans will like a lot." - Sugimori
"Right at the very end, we begged the programmers to add light or dark thicknesses to the outlines around each 3D model, so they'll look closer to the 2D illustrations. I think that had a really huge effect on the results. Before that fix, the 3D models looked a lot more robotic, but now I think they're much more like Pokemon. We also spent a lot of time to ensure that the characters retained their Pokemon traits. For example, let's say a Pokemon is happy in the Pokemon Amie section. It's easy to have him raise his hands and jump around and get that emotion across, but if you do that, it'll wind up looking like some guy in a Pokemon suit. We kept an eye on ensuring things looked natural." - Unno
"I suppose this is odd for me to say in a game magazine, but I don't think you should rely on the strategy guides. Instead, think of it as going on an adventure and spending the time to make it a really fascinating journey. I think you'll have more fun that way." - Sugimori

Unless this is a really, REALLY good fake, it looks like a Year of Luigi 2DS is on the way. If this is a fake, that would be a real shame. This sucker is gorgeous!

Sony has been trumpeting some exclusive content for both Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed IV. Today we find out that that content isn't going to remain exclusive forever. It'll only stay that way for 6 months, leaving a chance for that content to head Wii U's way. While that seems less likely for Assassin's Creed IV, there's still a shot for Watch_Dogs.

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 23, 2013 – Nintendo is launching a new Wii U Deluxe Set that puts the focus on value, and highlights the two biggest names in video games: Mario and his brother, Luigi. Available in stores on Nov. 1, the Wii U Deluxe model will come with two games – New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U – all on one disc. The new configuration will sell at the low suggested retail price of $299.99, and replaces the existing Wii U Deluxe Set, which included Nintendo Land. For fans who want to experience the uproarious fun of Nintendo Land, the game can still be purchased separately in stores and as a download in the Nintendo eShop at a new low suggested retail price of $29.99, also beginning Nov. 1.

The beautiful, limited-edition Wii U Deluxe bundle that comes with a download code for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, a gorgeous GamePad controller adorned with art inspired by The Legend of Zelda series and a download code for a digital copy of Hyrule Historia is also still available at a suggested retail price of $299.99 while supplies last.

"Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It's another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season."

New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U are two of the best games on Wii U. The games offer players two separate platforming adventures – one starring Mario and one starring Luigi – each filled with dozens of creative levels. Both Mario and Luigi control differently, giving each game a distinct feel and challenge. Both games showcase the refreshing originality and game play that can only be found on Nintendo systems.

Remember that Wii U features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu.

There was a time when mini-game collections were pouring out of game developers left and right. Everywhere you looked, you couldn't help but see a collection of new/licensed characters that were bringing you tons of bite-sized content that was best shared with friends/family. Too bad most of that content ended up being tolerable at best. The mini-game cash in following the Wii boom really put a damper on the entire genre.

Nintendo decided to try and buck that trend with Wii Party, a mini-game collection somewhat in the style of Mario Party, but with a more open feel and a focus on Miis. I originally wasn't too interested in the title, but my opinion quickly changed when I went hands-on with the release. It turned out to be an absolute blast, with many a night spent with family/friends playing various experiences in the collection. In my opinion, Wii Party is the absolute best mini-game party collection out there.

With that kind of impression from the original, you can bet I was excited for Wii Party U. I don't think many people are really all that hyped for the game, considering themselves done with the genre for a long time. I am not one of those people. I was eagerly awaiting Wii Party U and have put in a lot of time with it. I have not been let down by its content, which offers up a collection of activities that matches and rivals the experience of the first title. This is indeed a party in a box, so long as you have the right crowd.

Looks like Amazon is selling 3DS XLs, ship and sold directly http://t.co/6fJ58JxYhK Still not for Wii U or 2DS

— Wario64 (@Wario64) October 23, 2013

We still don't know what the deal is between Amazon and Nintendo. They seem to have trouble with one another, but for whatever reason, they've resolved their 3DS XL issues. Now we just need Wii U and 2DS!

A portion of a 4cr review...

So, is Mighty Switch Force 2 still a fun game on Wii U? The answer is yes! Considering I had already beaten Mighty Switch Force 2 on the 3DS for my review, going back to the game on Wii U reinforced to me that it is a well designed and engaging game since I ended up playing until 1 A.M. on a couple of days just to get my time total below par and to secure every Ugly Secret Baby even though I had already done it on my 3DS.
