Street Fighter II Designer Akira Nishitani has let loose on Twitter with a bunch of interesting details from the development of Street Fighter II. Check out some of his reveals below.

Remembered something else. We had given each character their own separate defense value, then somewhere along the line we discovered that those values weren’t actually being reflected in the damage calculation, but ended up leaving it that way.

But I guess it felt more fair that way? Turned out alright in the end.

The red Hadoukens in the first SF2 weren’t actually a glitch, they were an intentional easter egg put in by the programmers. But I couldn’t have imagined that would eventually become the Shakunetsu Hadouken.

In SF2, sometimes Ryu takes absurdly high damage when dizzied. This is due to the fact that we experimented with characters taking twice as much damage when dizzy, and applied this flag to all dizzied animation frames, but forgot to remove it from one.

I’m pretty sure it was 1 frame out of a 4 frame sequence, so it should be possible to watch the animation once Ryu’s dizzied and intentionally aim for that high damage.

A portion of an NWR review...

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy completes the era of Hershel Layton quite well, with plenty of interesting backstories as you get close to the end. It helps that the puzzles and exploring parts are still enjoyable and still make the adventure worth traversing.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nintendo is giving Wii U owners the chance to get fit for free. Starting Nov. 1, Wii U owners who own a Wii Balance Board accessory and have access to a broadband Internet connection will be able to download a free trial version of Wii Fit U from the Nintendo eShop. The trial software is not an abbreviated version of the game - it's the full Wii Fit U experience. The trial will be downloadable from the Nintendo eShop between Nov. 1, 2013, and Jan. 31, 2014, and will work for 31 days from when it is first played.

Any trial participant who buys a Fit Meter accessory and syncs it to the game will be able to continue playing Wii Fit U forever - a great value for anyone looking to keep calories from Halloween and Thanksgiving at bay. The Fit Meter has many of the same features of modern activity meters, and people can purchase one at select retailers and online at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

With Wii Fit U, the workout goes wherever the user goes. People can work out at home, or take the Fit Meter with them to track steps taken, elevation changes and calories burned. One button press syncs the Fit Meter data to the in-game profile, so people get credit for their physical activity, even if they aren't at home for a traditional Wii Fit U workout. The game also lets people create custom routines of their favorite activities, review their progress and see what their friends are up to in online Gym Communities and Miiverse*. With more than 70 different activities to choose from, Wii Fit U combines fun and fitness in yoga, strength training and fitness games that get people up off the couch and moving. For the first time, dance activities are also included. Players can try eight different dance styles, including salsa, hula and hip hop.

Pokemon X/Y

- second week sales moved 473,000 copies
- total at 2.34 million
- sales dropped by 75%

When compared to Pokemon Black/White's launch in Japan, Pokemon X/Y are fairing a little bit worse. Black/White had a higher launch week when it came to copies sold, and second week sales fell by 70% versus 75%. It's important to note that there were many more DS units sold when Pokemon Black/White launched versus 3DS units sold with Pokemon X/Y launching. On top of that, sales figures for X/Y don't factor in digital sales.

- second best-selling Wii U title in Japan during the week of October 14th
- 1,435 copies in its debut week
- data period ended on the 20th

Keep in mind that Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive in Japan. Is it lack of Wii U sales, lack of Rayman interest or both?

Not sure why, but Zombie Blaster is no longer available for purchase on the 3DS eShop. Reviews have been less than stellar, so maybe the game was yanked due to quality issues?

Coming from the official Facebook page...

Based on several factors we've had to cancel the Wii and Wii-U versions of Young Justice: Legacy.

We regret that this decision will prevent some fans from playing the game and the finding out what happens in the story. There were a number of reasons ranging from quality issues to lack of retailer support, but know that we didn't make this decision lightly. We are a fairly new company, and unfortunately both of these platforms presented challenges we couldn't overcome.

Please accept our sincere apology.

We look forward to delivering the Xbox360, PS3, 3DS, and Steam versions in less than a month.

Thanks to Jon for the heads up!

Sonic Lost World hits Wii U/3DS on Oct. 29th, but this doesn't seem to make sense with that game. Any other guesses, or will this end up being some strange Sonic tie-in?

The gang over at NeoGAF has been making note of the differences between Batman: Akrham Origins' various versions. Believe it or not, it seems like the Wii U version might be coming out on top. Here are some things people have noted.

Best framerate on consoles. They all have some frame drops but Wii U seems to have the least. Overall it seems to be Wii U > 360 >>>>>>>>>>>PS3 in this regard.
No screentearing on Wii U.
Better lighting on Wii U compared to PS3/360.
All versions have glitches, including game breaking bugs but Wii U has less glitches than 360, PS3, or even PC with apparently no game breakers present. Including being able to actually do the Burnley tower correctly.
Plus Off TV Play.
Plus Map on the GamePad.
Plus Achievements Posting on Miiverse.
Minus Multiplayer.
$10 less.

If you don't mind the missing multiplayer, this might be the version to go. Since the Batman games weren't really focused on any multiplayer aspects, this might not be such a bad thing!
