Call of Duty: Ghosts (10/9/9/9, 37 points)

"There are no dramatic new features, but there's a reliable sort of fun here, like there always is, between the new action scenes and the charming story. Riley the military dog isn't just there to break the tension; you can control him and send out attack commands, and it's really neat how he's directly connected to gameplay. You also just have to check out the whirlwind plot developments right from the start."

"The mode where you're fighting off aliens to survive is a fresh experience. It's hard to get really lost in this game, but I'm not sure I like how the guide pointing you to the next goal point isn't around any longer."

Daigasso Band Brothers P (10/9/9/10, 38 points)

"Band Brothers has always been a really experiemental and cutting-edge experienc and now Vocaloid support's been added out of nowhere! This adds a ton of depth to the whole package and my hat goes off to them to implementing it. Up to 10 people can jam over the Internet, and I love how you can bring up your own face and message during songs. The game's difficulty range is a lot wider now, too, so you don't have to worry about being too slow to enjoy it."

Coming from a Reddit AMA with Darby McDevitt, lead writer for the franchise.

"I doubt we would do a modern day [Assassin's Creed]. There are just too many mechanics we would have to develop to make it believable ... vehicles, plausible modern cities, a huge array of ranged weapons, etc. ...there's always a chance, but one of the biggest draws of the series is the historical 'tourism.'

As for the Assassin Templar storyline resolving... I don't think so. Its been going for 80,000 years already. Why stop it now? There will certainly be a resolution to the most recent plot developments, but the overall conflict will probably rage forever, just like most deeply divided philosophical conflicts," he said.

The Game MD was the victim of a meticulously planned break-in over the weekend and police say close to $75,000 worth of video games and equipment was stolen. Owner Roy McLean had to close his shop Monday after thieves cut through his store's wall to get their hands on hundreds of games including one considered a hot new item. McLean says the thieves got away with a hot item in the gaming world, about 150 pre-orders of Call of Duty Ghosts.

Coming from a CVG interview with Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz...

"By and large, most titles' commercial fates are decided well before the first review comes out; otherwise, we would not be able to use pre-launch data from Amazon and predict actual sales with a fair degree of accuracy.

We think CoD has become such an embedded franchise that it is somewhat review-proof. We think of CoD as being like EA's Madden NFL, which continues to sell similar unit numbers year in and year out, regardless of reviews; Madden's Metacritic has ranged as low as 78 in recent years.

Ultimately, we don't think that sales of this year's title will be impacted enormously by these reviews. Our concern lies more with next year, when Call of Duty will face competition from several new next-gen shooters, including EA's Titanfall and Activision's own Destiny. To the degree that CoD may become a bit of a 'been there done that' experience for gamers, we think it is vulnerable to losing share as new product enters the market."

Man, if only the world could fuel all of its machinery off of Nintendo commentary. There's never a drought of armchair analysts out there ready to pick apart every little move Nintendo makes. That's the right of anyone to do, mind you. I just get a little tired of the different angles people come at to try and say the same thing. Maybe I'm in the wrong on this one. Hit up the article below and have a look.

Coming from a Reddit AMA with the Assassin's Creed IV dev team...

Yup, we're looking at them now! The general feedback is that the early game was liked and late game was extremely liked. The missions people didnt enjoy so much seem to be related to high desynch rates (either from death or detection)

Highest rated mission is gaining the Jackdaw. Lowest rated is find the sage in Seq 5, but its a 3.5 / 5 so thats pretty good :D

...

We receive a ton of stats, provided you are connected to the internet... however, they are stripped of all identifying factors, so we never could tell exactly who any of you are (privacy is paramount, naturally).

But, yeah, for example, we can see how many people desynched in a mission and where (world coordinates)... it's pretty detailed and helps guide us when crafting patches and that sort of thing.

"Wii Karaoke U by Joysound is intended to provide users with access to a large catalogue of songs from a broad range of music labels across a variety of musical genres - designed to appeal to all music tastes," Nintendo explained. "As such Nintendo does not restrict which songs are included in the catalogue of songs featured within the Wii Karaoke U by Joysound application.

"We are aware that some songs contain explicit lyrics and deal with adult themes which some audiences may find unsuitable. As such the Wii Karaoke U by Joysound application currently includes a notice which informs users that music downloads are not rated by PEGI. Wii U owners also have the tools to restrict access to the song catalogue using the Parental Controls feature (Online Interaction in Games). For more information on Parental Controls please visit www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Wii-U/Parental-Controls/Overview-678628.html

"It is however very important to us that all users of Wii Karaoke U by Joysound understand that some lyrics contained within songs may not be suitable for all audiences and as such we will immediately be implementing an additional message within the Nintendo eShop (prior to downloading the application and ticket purchase) as well as on the Wii Karaoke U by Joysound website pages. In the near future this message will also be incorporated within the notification that is displayed as the Wii Karaoke U by Joysound application is launched."

London, UK – November 6th – Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that the company sold more than $1 billion of Call of Duty®: Ghosts into shops worldwide as of day one.

"Call of Duty is by far the largest console franchise of this generation," said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. "More people have played Call of Duty this year than ever before, logging four billion hours of gameplay. And in the last 12 months, Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, including its digital content, generated more revenues than any other console game ever has in a single year. Although it is too early to assess sell-through for Call of Duty: Ghosts, it's launching at a time when the franchise has never been more popular."

Millions of people are already playing Call of Duty: Ghosts online. Since its release yesterday, Call of Duty: Ghosts has moved to the #1 spot as the most played game on Xbox Live, according to Microsoft. Additionally, Activision confirmed that on the Xbox 360 videogames and entertainment system from Microsoft, average player sessions for Ghosts have been longer than either Black Ops II or Call of Duty®:Modern Warfare ® 3, during the same time period.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launched at 15,000 midnight openings around the world. Fans around the world shared their excitement in social media, with Call of Duty-related terms trending an astounding 20 times globally on Twitter in the last 24 hours.

"Ghosts is an amazing game which ushers in the next generation of Call of Duty. The team at Infinity Ward has delivered yet another epic thrill ride in the campaign, and what I think is our best multiplayer game yet," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. "This is the must have launch title for the next generation of consoles, and we expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to be the most successful launch title for the Xbox One and PS4 by a wide margin. In fact, according to GameStop, Call of Duty: Ghosts is their most pre-reserved next gen title."

We knew that there were some lewd acts involved with Swapnote, but Nintendo wasn't letting on what exactly caused them to shut down the service. Now we have details from Japanese publications.

- two men have been arrested
- they were alledgedly performing "improper acts" in hotel rooms with a 12 year-old girl
- this happened multiple times
- the men are aged 49 and 36
- this was facilitated through the 3DS
- child pornography charges have also been filed against another man, 44
- he allegedly had an 11 and 12 year old girls send him nude pictures through Swapnote
- other men have been charged with statutory rape and indecency through compulsion
