Man, talk about a surprise! Kirby: Triple Deluxe has already gotten a release date in Japan, and it's coming out Jan. 11th! I guess we'll start seeing a lot more info on this soon. Perhaps a NA/EU release isn't that far off?

Coming from a Famitsu interview with Motohide Eshiro...

“Personally speaking, I’ve always had a place in my heart for Shadow of Rome, so I’d like to make a sequel for it. At the time, there were many radical descriptions of the game, and it was full of pros and cons [laughs], but I think if we could make some adjustments and make it into something that adults could enjoy, it wouldd be nice. Of late, I could say that I’ve become an old man, so I’ve been interested in ‘entertainment for grown ups’.

Well, since I am part of Capcom, I’d like to continue releasing more games for Onimusha and Devil May Cry. Again, I’d also like to revive side-scroller games, such as Final Fight and Dungeons & Dragons! They may be simple, but they have plenty of depth, and I definitely believe that remaking older action games with today’s technology would make things interesting.

Since the past, Capcom have always had an image that was modeled after their action games, so I’d really like to make those. Speaking of action games, the Monster Hunter series is one that has inherited all of Capcom’s action knowhow, which only continues to evolve. I don’t think it’s too good to over-compliment our company’s own titles, but those games are really well made.

At first, I thought to myself, ‘how the heck am I supposed to hunt this monster? No way!’ but after recognizing its pattern, and preparing with the best equipment and items, I was able to barely hunt it down.

I believe that this brilliant sense of balance has been cultivated from Capcom’s years and years of knowhow, and was only made possible because it was made by Capcom. That said, I believe that while Capcom should never throw that away, they also need to expand where they can.

My dream is to open my own game shop and if the local kids say something like ‘Wow, that old man knows a lot about games.’ it’d make me really happy. However, those dreams are for later, and for now I’d like to keep making games. I’ll continue working on titles such as Ace Attorney on consoles, and Blade Fantasia for smartphones, and we’re also working earnestly on developing brand new titles. Thank you for your support, and please look forward to more!”

The following comes from a Famitsu interview with composer Shota Kageyama and Junichi Masuda...

"In making Pokemon, we always place a lot of emphasis on the reasoning and meaning behind 'why' you decide to do something the way you did. I used to rely on Masuda a lot, asking him 'What do you think about this?' and so on, but here I had to take responsibility for myself. I had to start by analyzing all the music in the series and reminding myself of why it's the way it is, then write a report for Masuda on how I think the sound should work, what direction it should take.

Beauty is an extremely important keyword throughout this title and I thought of assorted ways to express that in music. I worked on music while coming up with tones and melodies that I thought provided a design that evoked beauty in the minds of people. It's not that there are no French aspects to the music, but I'd never just put music from that region into the game, even if that's the motif. Pokemon is a fantasy world, after all, so I pay close attention to maintaining that gap from the real world." - Kageyama
"If you're at a chic cafe eating macaroons and you hear accordion music, that's the full French image, isn't it? But if you use, say, the koto instead of an accordion, that creates a more unusual landscape. I think we need to keep that sort of freshness to the feel; meanwhile, we're free to use the accordion for very non-French parts. Retaining that kind of balance in every aspect of the game is part of the Pokemon formula.

X/Y also sounds different from previous Pokemon titles in a slightly more subtle way: Kageyama and crew re-recorded all of the Pokemon cries for this game. "Once we decided to go 3D with Pokemon. I figured it was also time that we changed up the kind of electronic-sounding cries that a lot of the Pokemon had. Something fresher and more animal-like to go with the improved hardware.

The cartoon's been on the air for 16 years and is shown in 83 countries, but everywhere you go, it's always Ikue Ohtani's voice for Pikachu. You can go all around the world and ask people what Pikachu sounds like and it'll always be the 'Pi-kaaa!' from the anime. I figured that, if that's how people see it, then that's how they'd probably like the game to be, too. So X/Y has a lot of changes, definitely." - Masuda
"The process wasn't without some level of nervousness for me, but I think it was a pretty great idea, especially with this being a worldwide simultaneous release. Still, there's something like 3000 or 4000 voices overall used in Pokemon-Amie, which I tell you was a huge pain to do. Just recording all those cries was an enormous process.

With the Nintendo 3DS, the sound's gotten a lot prettier, a lot more dynamic, and a lot more real. It's far more expressive than it's ever been, and I think it's a real evolution, something you'll definitely want to take out the headphones for." - Kageyama

Man, this is insane. Remember that Final Fantasy VII NES cart we talked about awhile ago? That project wasn't very good, as is the case with most bootlegs. Still, the base was enough to convince one fan to go through and remake the project so that it could be the best NES version of FFVII possible. If you're keen on knowing what else was done, hit up the link below!

Nintendo 3DS marked its sixth consecutive month as the country’s best-selling video game hardware system, with more than 452,000 units sold, thanks in part to the launch of Nintendo 2DS and sales of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Sales of Nintendo 3DS hardware in October doubled last month’s tally*, and marked the most units any portable video game system or home console has sold in a single month in 2013.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were the No. 1 and No. 2 top-selling titles last month, with more than 1.7 million units combined, making October the biggest month for Nintendo 3DS software all year. Total Nintendo 3DS first-party software sales hit more than 2 million units sold, the highest tally since the report for December 2011, which included sales of hit games Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.

Software sells hardware, and Nintendo is heading into a strong season of value and variety with a range of games that appeal to everyone for both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U:

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo-published games now available include Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and Mario Kart 7. Games still on the way in 2013 include The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour.

Some top third-party Nintendo 3DS games for the holiday season include Sonic Lost World from SEGA (exclusive), Shin Megami Tensei IV from ATLUS (exclusive), Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate and Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure (exclusive) from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! Collector’s Edition from D3Publisher (exclusive) and Skylanders SWAP Force from Activision.
Wii U

Nintendo-published games now available include Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Wii Party U. Wii U games still on the way in 2013 include Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on Nov. 15 and Super Mario 3D World on Nov. 22.

Digitally exclusive Nintendo-published games now available in the Nintendo eShop include Wii Sports Club – Tennis, Wii Sports Club – Bowling and EarthBound, as well as the Wii Fit U free trial version of the full game, available now until the end of January 2014.
Make sure to keep an eye out in stores for recently announced Wii U bundles, now available at the suggested retail price of $299.99 each. All three bundles cater to value shoppers looking for a fun and economical gift for themselves or a loved one this holiday season.

The new Wii U Deluxe Set now comes with two great games, New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, all on one disc, while the limited-edition Wii U Deluxe bundle features a download code for the digital version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
The Skylanders SWAP Force Wii U bundle, launching Nov. 15, also joins the list, and includes everything needed to start the new adventure, plus an assortment of Skylanders extras that will satisfy current fans and newcomers alike. The bundle comes with a white Wii U Basic Set, a Skylanders SWAP Force starter pack that includes three Skylanders figures, a Portal of Power, trading cards, Skylanders sticker sheets, a collector poster and a Nintendo Land game disc.

Some top third-party Wii U games for the holiday season include Sonic Lost World from SEGA (exclusive), Rayman Legends and Just Dance 2014 from Ubisoft, Disney Infinity from Disney Interactive, Skylanders SWAP Force and Call of Duty: Ghosts from Activision, and Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (exclusive).

*September had an additional reporting week compared to October.
**Data regarding physical sales of games in October are from the NPD Group. Data regarding digital downloads of games and combined physical/digital life-to-date numbers are from Nintendo’s internal sales figures. All numbers, unless otherwise stated, are specific to the United States only.

Best selling platform was 3DS. 360 sold more than PS3.

3DS: 452K (+~100%)

- gaming hardware, software, and accessories combined to generate $791.1 million
- this is up 5 percent year-over-year
- software was up 10 percent to $495.1 million

"Growth in video game software sales over the last few months has reversed negative year-to-date trends caused by declines seen earlier in the year with video game software sales currently flat to last year. With the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One, we hope to see positive trends over November and December which would lead to an increase in software sales for the year."

I made a promise to you guys a couple weeks back. I said I would use Wii Fit U, make a gym community and lose my damn excess weight. I've been keeping up with that promise. I've made big diet changes and greatly upped my exercise. Couple that with the Wii Fit U meter and some Wii Fit U games and I'm on the path to a healthier life! Thanks to the support of our gym community on Wii Fit U, it seems that a lot of you are doing the same!

As part of my routine to living better, I've been walking over a mile every day. I dump the data down from my meter into Wii Fit U, which you can check out via our gym community. If you haven't joined up with our gym, I wanted to offer up more evidence of my daily exercise. Case in point, here's a video of me on a walk, wearing a Mega Man hat and singing Mega Man tunes.

If you're wondering, this is the song I was singing. Yeah, this is a completely random and dumb post. In all seriousness, I'd like to thank every one of you that joined up with our gym community. Your dedication to GN and this new outlook on life has helped make more more dedicated than ever before. Once again, you guys have proven to be an absolutely amazing bunch.

A bunny and a description of the bunny, alongside a couple of pencils. That's all we get from this Namco Bandai teaser. Of course, anything that involves writing is always well suited to Wii U or 3DS. We'll keep tabs on this one for any other hints that pop up.
