Coming from an NWR interview with Image and Forms' Brjann Sigurgeirsson...

"It is the next SteamWorld game, meaning that it is going to be in the SteamWorld universe. The next game is not going to be a direct sequel to SteamWorld Dig, it is not going to be SteamWorld Dig 2. It is coming to the Nintendo 3DS first, because we think it is a fantastic platform. If I have any updates on the game? The thing is that earlier, when we did SteamWorld Dig, the first thing I went out and said was that it was going to be released at the end of February 2013 and then I said by the end of March.

If there is one thing I have learned, is talking too much before everything is set in stone. It is very likely that I would have to eat my own words. So I sort of promised that the rest of team, that they sort of would kill me if I say too much. I will say a few things. Gameplay wise, it will have elements from SteamWorld Dig, you will definitely know in which environment you are. Then there would be other gameplay elements in there and the mix is very interesting. I have played the vertical slice, the very early alpha version of this game and it is fantastic. I tell you that much. It is just the brilliance of our lead game designer, he is a genius at mixing stuff that really fits well together. It was so exciting to just spend 30 minutes playing this next SteamWorld game that I was... yeah, I was happy to see it. So the update on the game is I don't have a release date for it, we don't have a date on when we will release the title for it, but euhmm... that it is going to be very cool. It is coming out in 2014."

StreetPass Network transfers website domain to Nintendo

• Move collaboratively and proactively protects intellectual property
• StreetPass Network will undertake no further activities
• 149 enthusiast groups to operate as fully individualized entities

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 20, 2013) — StreetPass Network, an organization connecting Nintendo 3DS gamers across the world, today announced it has transferred control of the http://streetpassnetwork.com domain to Nintendo of America Inc. StreetPass Network will undertake no further activities, and the many StreetPass enthusiast groups that comprised StreetPass Network will now operate as fully individualized entities.

Nintendo accepted control of the http://streetpassnetwork.com domain following a collaborative and proactive discussion with StreetPass Network to protect Nintendo's intellectual property, including its StreetPass trademark. The domain, which previously hosted the StreetPass Network website, now directs to http://www.nintendo.com.

"I'm extremely grateful to Nintendo for allowing me to have played in its sandbox, so to speak," said Joshua Lynsen, founder of StreetPass Network. "And after years of me finding value in Nintendo's creations, I'm honored and humbled to know Nintendo found value in one of mine."

Lynsen, who also founded the world's first StreetPass enthusiast group with StreetPass DC, registered the http://streetpassnetwork.com domain in March 2011. He used it to launch StreetPass Network, an organization that endeavored to unite the many StreetPass enthusiast groups inspired by StreetPass DC; educate group leaders on best practices; and empower Nintendo 3DS owners to more easily connect with the StreetPass enthusiast group nearest them.

At the time of the domain's transfer, StreetPass Network included 149 groups across five continents representing 58,508 members. These groups will operate as fully individualized entities going forward. StreetPass Network, which generally operated under a decentralized structure that emphasized local control, will undertake no further activities as an organization.

"I'm excited that StreetPass enthusiast groups across the world will continue to hold events, build communities and forge friendships," Lynsen said. "The endurance of these altruistic efforts beautifully demonstrates how one idea can spark change. I shall always cherish the goodness that resulted from me sharing my idea with the world."

The core StreetPass Network website, http://streetpassnetwork.wordpress.com, will remain active for a time purely as a historical reference. No further updates to the website are planned.

A portion of a C3 review...

On 3DS, Rage of the Gladiator stands out even more since it doesn't even have a Punch-Out opponent to fight alongside on the market, which should make Ghostfire Games' brainchild all the more appealing to players hungry for that type of experience.

The first question reads as follows...

How old are you?

On which platforms do you play?

PC
Xbox 360
PlayStation 3
Handy/Smartphone
Facebook/Browsers

Really classy, EA. Why bother learning how many of your customers like to play on Wii U?

Did you know that Nintendo became a publicly traded company on this very day back in 1947? Nintendo existed all the way back in 1889, but it wasn't until many years later that they really started to hit the scene. They've been going strong for quite some time!

Coming from an EDGE interview with creator, Alex Preston...

Even if we put it on 3DS, we wouldn't just toss weird touch elements in there for the sake of having them, and it's the same thing for Wii U. Sure, we want to be able to play on (the GamePad's) screen, but it's a game that's really all about classic controls, and we don't want to change that for any one console. We want everyone to experience the game as we envisioned it. I think that's such a crucial element of being a good director, when a game is able to expose its innards in a way that's meaningful without having to bown it down into words and extrapolate it.

Both of these statements appear in the most recent issue of EDGE...

Coming from Fire Emblem: Awakening director Kohei Maeda...

I think that all of the Fire Emblem games are fun, but a lot of beginner players stay clear of them because they think they are difficult. I think this is a real shame. A big reason for wanting to include this mode was so that those kinds of people could play Fire Emblem too...Since your characters come back when they die, one advantage is that you can play more aggressively or take more risks.
Coming from ZombiU story design director Gabrielle Shrager...

(Writing ZombiU) was the toughest challenge I've faced in over ten years of writing for games. It took... the whole production team to find solutions for all the 'But what happens if you die here?' issues, which were sometimes mind-bendingly complicated.

I created the Prepper character and the survivors' notes to establish a link and reinforce between the survivors who all fall under this mysterious character's influence. Without a main player character, you need to embrace your main NPCs.

... Our character assemblage system produced avatars that were less gorgeous than a single player character would've been.

Coming from EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen...

"The beauty of the Star Wars franchise is it's so broad and so deep you don't have to do a movie game. You can do a game that's very focused on the world that's been created around Star Wars. ... (EA will have) new games that we're inventing around their content, around the broad Star Wars content and around some of the new assets that they may produce over time as well.

We struck what we believe is a fantastic deal which allows us to be able to build games in many different genres across multiple types of platforms over 10 years and will leverage the strength of the Disney marketing associated with the Star Wars properties, both in movies and other things that they made do over the timeframe. We'll try to align those with that marketing power that Disney has, but it won't necessarily be aligned with the movies."
