It's no secret that we're eagerly anticipating Guybrush Threepwood's second HD-ified return to the the world of Monkey Island. Today a handful of new comparison screens dropped for Monkey Island 2: Special Edition that have mutated our anticipation level to critical altitudes. Remember that game we played the last time new screens were released? The one where we dared you to not be impressed by the graphical fidelity of the images? Round Two begins right now, folks.

One of the game features promised during Monkey Island 2: Special Edition's announcement event was an audio commentary track that could be accessed at certain points in the game. Today, the identities of the commentators have been revealed: Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman -- none other than the original game's trio of designers.

Check out a behind-the-scenes video above, in which the three beloved adventure game creators introduce themselves and explain their roles in the title's development. We never knew Schafer had such humble, subordinate beginnings!

We're going to play a little game today. Here's the only rule: try not to be impressed by the graphical fidelity of these Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge screens. Don't marvel at the vibrant pirate spitting contest you see above. Don't cower at the menacing and highly-detailed visage of LeChuck himself. Scoff at the wares in the antique shop. Go ahead -- be unimpressed.

Yeah, we couldn't win, either. On to round two!

That's right -- screenshot. LucasArts has released a single screenshot of the upcoming remake of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. For comparison, two screens of the original version, including one of the same scene shown above, have been re-released. Wood ya chuck it out?

The images come courtesy of the Monkey Island Facebook page, which promises the release of more screens every day. We must say, Guybrush is certainly looking more piratical this time around. Check out the new screens in the gallery below and keep an eye on the Monkey Island Facebook page for more images in the coming days. (The other, of course, should remain appropriately covered with an eye patch.)
