We're sure you marked your calendar when we first reported the Xbox Live schedule for April, but we figured a reminder was in order (just in case!). The latest Deal of the Week is for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DLC, which is available for half price and includes both Onslaught mode and the Vietnam expansion. And, if Vietnam is just too recent historically for you, Battlefield 1943 has also been discounted. The deals expire after April 11.

Check out the available savings after the break.

The EA Store is currently offering the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 -- one of our favorites of 2010 -- for ten bucks, half off its usual $20 price. The "Vietnam" expansion has also been discounted to $7.47. Deploy your (credit card) charges at the EA Store to nab the deals.

Although PS3 and Xbox 360 players didn't quite measure up to the challenge, DICE has unlocked the final map of the Battlefield Vietnam expansion, Operation Hastings, for everyone. PC players were able to get up to the requisite 69 million team actions in a matter of days, far outpacing console players (with 34 and 46 million actions, respectively). The sudden change of plans is apparently to "start this new year with a big of a bang as we ended it."

Well, what are you waiting for? Time to start playing that map you all (sort of) worked for!

[Thanks, Zach!]

#pc Battlefield: Bad Company 2 wanted to see a team spirit on its new Vietnam DLC package before unlocking a remastered Operation: Hastings map. PC players have answered the call first, passing the 69 million "team action" threshold required earlier today. More »

The PC warriors in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam now have access to the "Operation Hastings" map, having completed the required 69 million team actions. Vietnam combatants on Xbox 360 are more than halfway through the unlock challenge, while PS3 players are approaching 30 million actions.

Team actions require you to assist your teammates by spotting enemies, healing, reviving, repairing and resupplying ammo. And when you're not doing those things, you're probably setting your flamethrower on the opposition in DICE's excellent $15 expansion.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam occupies a very strange place. It's a great addition to the Battlefield franchise, no doubt. But, whether it was originally intended as a standalone game à la Battlefield 1943, or as an "expansion" to Battlefield Bad Company 2, is a question that lingers. Of course, it's hard to focus on such questions while you barbecue the enemy with a flamethrower.

Vietnam is, the way publisher EA and developer DICE sell it, a multiplayer-only "expansion pack" to this year's hit, Battlefield Bad Company 2. The $15 upgrade includes four new maps (a fifth will unlock shortly) and ramps up the overall game's tension by turning back the clock on weaponry. It occupies a separate location in the BFBC2 menu and the maps are not part of the core game's rotation. For all intents and purposes, Vietnam is such a different Battlefield experience that you'll forget it has anything to do with Bad Company 2.

Much like it did with Battlefield 1943, developer DICE will add an additional map, Operation Hastings, once a community challenge is met in the multiplayer expansion Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. However, this time DICE isn't making the challenge a collective kill count of 43 million. In keeping more with the spirit of cooperation in the game, the map will unlock once the community accomplishes 69 million team actions (double entendres abound).

In order to unlock the fifth Vietnam map, you'll have to heal, spot, repair, revive and resupply as often as possible ... but you were already doing that, right?

BFBC2 Vietnam will be drafted into service on December 21. Check out the Operation Hastings challenge video after the break.

On December 21, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will arrive on the PlayStation 3 with the low, low cost of $14.99, adding some great new gameplay to an already fantastic shooter. You may already know that this expansion comes with new weapons, new vehicles, and four new maps, but what you may not know is that one of the most popular maps from 2004’s Battlefield: Vietnam will also be included in the bundle.

The fifth map, Operation Hastings, will add a new avenue for PlayStation gamers to show their superiority on the Battlefield featuring everything that makes BFBC2 Vietnam amazing: tanks, Jeeps, temples, boats and helicopters all in an environment featuring a distinctive bridge that separates the map into two main areas. Though, it’s not as easy as all that. It’s entirely up to you to unlock this fifth map.

To unlock Operation Hastings, we’ve decided to start up a new community challenge for all of our fans dubbed The Battle for Hastings. To unlock Operation Hastings, our entire audience will need to perform 69 million team actions within Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. While this sounds like a daunting task, we’re sure our PlayStation 3 fans can handle it, as these actions include resupplies, revives, heals, spots and repairs, allowing for plenty of avenues to achieve this goal.

Get ready to jump back into the Battlefield on December 21, and we’ll be counting the support actions until you unlock Operation Hastings for the entire world to enjoy.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam can finally toss away that pesky "Winter 2010" release window to celebrate an official December 21, 2010, launch date. Not only that, but DICE has rolled out a double dose of good news, noting the free VIP Map Pack 7 will hit on December 1.

VIP Map Pack 7 will include 4 new(ish) maps, while Vietnam will be a $15 multiplayer expansion with four more maps, along with new weapons and vehicles. Check out the latest trailer after the break.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam hid its "winter 2010" launch date so cleverly in the brush that we're not sure if it can even find it now. It turns out that Russian intelligence (from 32bita) may be able to give us some intel on the game. Sure, it's not a release date, but some spy has posted all the weapons and vehicles that can be found in the multiplayer expansion.

Fair warning: it's spoilery. As in: these are the guns you'll get. Granted, there are many guns like them, but these are the ones that will be yours.

[Thanks, Tom]

We're still left wondering about its "winter 2010" release date, but Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam has now been priced at $15. The DLC expansion will add four new maps, 15 new weapons and six vehicles to fit in with its setting. And now we just keep waiting for that date to show up -- like we did on Prom night.

There was some confusion surrounding Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, the first expansion to DICE's well-received shooter. Following the initial announcement at E3 2010, EA has resolved the question of distribution -- it'll only be available digitally as Bad Company 2 DLC -- and described more of the features included with the map pack (which has missed inclusion in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition).

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will add four new multiplayer maps, as well as 15 new weapons and six vehicles, all congruous with the new 1960s locale and Bad Company 2's universal experience point system. Among other era-specific items, you'll gain access to the M79 grenade launcher, the Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun, the American Huey helicopter and the Russian T54 tank.

The DLC, which requires the Bad Company 2 game disc, will retain the game's universal experience points and add ten new Achievements and Trophies. Oh, and there's a "rocking 60s soundtrack" composed of 49 tracks (including "Fortunate Son" by CCR and "Ride of the Valkyries") spread over eight in-game radio channels. Like, just dig into a foxhole and listen to the tunes, dude. Why you gotta be so violent?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is on track for a Winter 2010 release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. EA has yet to budge on the issue of price, though we expect it to remain competitive with less elaborate map packs.

EA has been mum on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam since announcing the multiplayer-only expansion during its E3 press conference three months ago. But Battlefield Community Manager zh1nt0 says that's about to change. "I am going to Tokyo Game Show to showcase Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam for the first time," he said on the studio's Battlefield Blog.

He reiterated the original feature set - "4 brand new maps built in Frostbite, as well as Vietnam specific weapons, vehicles, persistence, unlocks, and achievements/trophies" - and, well, that's about it. We're shipping out to Tokyo next week where we'll rendezvous with the expansion and deliver the intel back here. Still think they're going to hit that "this winter" release window?
