- Added SuperStorm Mod V3:

SuperStorm adds teaming options (with human players and AI), additional resource options, weather and some other features to Skirmish and Multiplayer modes in Earth 2160.

SuperStorm Structures

To play a SS Structures game, select it from the Game Type: drop-down box. This works the same as Destroy Structures but with the following options:

Team Options: This automatically puts players into teams, whether they're human or AI players. The alliances are handled automatically. The following options are available:
Free For All: All players against all players.
Teams of [One-Five]: Team players up (counted by order of players)
Teams as Factions: Team players of the same faction together
No Automatic Alliances (multiplayer only): No automatic alliances made, so AIs will attack human players and human players will start allied with no-one.
AI vs Human (single-player only): AI only targets you.
Resource Options: This contains both Destroy Structures and Uncle Sam options. Options available:
Mining: Destroy Structures default
Mining (4-16x resources): Makes resources last 4x- 16x longer depending on option.
Uncle Sam (1000-15000): No mining, and players get selected resources per minute.
Unlimited: No limit to resource usage.
Weather: Adds weather to the game. Environmental feature :) Options available:
None, Rain, Wind, Rain and Wind.
Special Options: Some other features of SuperStorm can be activated here:
Normal: No special option.
Map Objects On: Leaves on the units and buildings the map maker put on
Explored Map: Removes fog of war on the map
Observer (single-player only): Allows you to watch AI players battling it out - they will ignore you.

Destroy Structures also has the following features:

Live stats: the game displays the following stats as the game goes on:
Time: Players notified of the time every minute
Personal kills: Players are notified of their personal totals every 25 kills they make
Game kills: Players are notified of the total game kill count every 50 kills
Unit destruction: Unlike the normal game, SS Structures destroys all player units when they are defeated.

SuperStorm V3 is scripted by Gary "SpaceTug" Mullins, an FoC-D member. Thanks go to Chip for help with the testing, and CABAListic for the advice :)

We've known Robot Entertainment planned to offer goodies in Orcs Must Die 2 to those who purchased the original on Steam, and today the developer revealed specifics on those incentives. A special Classic mode will be available to those people, featuring ten levels from the original game available for single or co-op play in the sequel.

Classic mode will be instantly unlocked in Orcs Must Die 2 for all owners of Orcs Must Die on Steam. The original games is available at a reduced price on Steam right now, though we'd be remiss if we didn't remind you of Orcs Must Die 2's July 30 launch date lurking around the corner.

The Steam Summer Sale has just gone live, with standout deals including Portal 2 for five bucks, Modern Warfare 3 for $30, and the usual massive discounts on entire publisher collections. Go browse! Sorry about all your money!

The sale is on through July 12, with new deals cycling in every day. Excitingly, the "Indie Bundle" predicted by a peek into a database - a "Day 1" bundle with Anomaly Warzone Earth, The Baconing, Cave Story +, Edge, and Lone Survivor - has proven accurate, suggesting that the rest of the list is likely accurate as well.

On top of that, or at the side if you’re looking at the screen, there are also Flash Sales, which are shorter, except for including the Rayman Oranges one which is possibly was previously and incorrectly counting down from 11 days. It’s 11 hours now. Sale runs from July 12 to July 22. Anyone finding things they didn’t expect, or that they haven’t already bought at twice the price?

Hello Heroes,

Tonight many updates are going to be released.

First of all, Might & Magic Heroes 6 Pirates of the Savage Sea is going to be released tonight by 7 pm CET.
This Adventure Pack will introduce original heroes, mythical places and artifacts, familiars with over 10 hours of gameplay! You can find more information about the content here (www.mmh6.com).
Might & Magic Heroes 6 Pirates of the Savage Sea will be available on Steam, Uplay and other local sites.

That's not all as the patch 1.5 will be released tonight by 7pm CET as well. As we have already announced and showed, the patch 1.5 will bring brand new town screens to Heroes VI (…): they are now full 2D screens and fully animated. We really suggest you to check them out ingame!
This time we also focused on the balancing: to accomplish such a tremendous task, we gathered a lot of your feedback (thank you for sharing with us your thoughts and analysis!) and worked closely with the VIP fans. Today you can test the first results. As Limbic confirms (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWj1XVFo9Bw), it is not the last balance update. We will monitor closely how it works and bring changes if needed in the next patches. You can still share your ideas and thoughts with us on the official or community forums as your help is very appreciated by the dev team!

The last and the very awaited change we promised you to bring to Heroes 6 in the patch 1.5 is compatibility of online and offline saves. Unfortunately, this change will not be a part of the patch 1.5 and will be released later on. This last minute change is due to unexpected technical constrains that force us to go back a bit to the drawing board regarding our approach. The plan is to develop this feature as intended but will require a few more weeks of fine tuning before getting a proper release. We are really sorry about that. We are aware that you are eagerly waiting for this update and how important it is for you and well do our best to release it shortly.
Regarding the latest Uplay update and related issues with users' saves: saves may have temporarily disappeared from your folder "\Documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI". The issue is currently under investigation on our side and we are closely monitoring the situation with the Uplay team in order to sort this out as soon as possible. In the meantime and while waiting for the patch 1.5 and the Adventure Pack to be released tonight by 7 pm, lets have a look at the release notes:

Game Interface:
  • Added the Townscreens for all factions
  • Added a "Close Townscreens button" replacing the "Next Turn" button in the Townscreen Menu.
  • Added a Hide GUI button in the Townscreen Menu

Game Content:
  • Added the Adventure Pack compatibility

I, like many of you, have dreamed of creating the next great cinematic masterpiece since I first laid eyes on Kindergarten Cop. Unfortunately, I just never had the tools, so my gift to the world remained wrapped and hidden away. And then I got horribly distracted by Meet The Heavy meme videos created in Source Filmmaker, and that’s a hole I don’t see me digging myself out of any time soon. So my magnum opus has probably been shot by a regular magnum. There is a small spot of good news here, though: Source Filmmaker’s now available to everyone and, more importantly, Valve’s updated it with Meet The Engineer. So hooray, more memes that make me giggle uncontrollably for some reason.

Storytelling tool available free to everyone

July 10, 2012 Valve, creator of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the open beta release of Source Filmmaker (SFM), for free, to everyone.

The SFM is a storytelling tool Valve developed inside the Source Engine to create all its animated short films, including those in the Meet the Team series of Team Fortress 2 shorts. The SFM condenses the production pipeline of an animation studio down onto a single gaming PC. To help the community get started, the SFM includes all assets from Team Fortress 2 along with assets from two of the Meet the Team short films.

To see the newest and top-rated work being done by the community in the SFM, please visit www.steamcommunity.com/sfm.

Click here for more information and to download the SFM.

Nation Red 1.98 Update

- Added a new Barricade map: Prison (playable in Single Player, Local Coop and On-line Coop). Many players have asked for a map without NPCs to protect. The Prison map has no NPCs plus four fence corridors on the left and right side of the map from which zombies are escaping. Each escape rout is initially handled by 3 concrete barriers and a sentry gun.

- Added difficulty setting in Free Play and Barricade game menu. You can now select Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard and Severe settings before starting a game. You can then still fine-tune by using TAB during the first minute of gameplay.

- Added 5 new Steam achievements:

Fifteen Minutes In Jail: Survive for 15 minutes on the Prison barricade map

Thirty Minutes In Jail: Survive for 30 minutes on the Prison barricade map

Red 101: Collect 100 Nation Red achievements

Collateral: In a Free Play or Barricade game, choose Friendly Fire and use the M107 sniper rifle to kill 50 suicide bombers

Wipeout: In Free Play or Survival, kill 100 zombies within the first 30 seconds of the game (hint: use the new difficulty settings)

- Strategic Mode: Hitting a key jumps straight to perks beginning with that letter; i.e. hitting 'P' will jump to 'Pneumatic Destroyer'. This makes picking perks much quicker and easier.

- Strategic Mode: Increased scroll speed to navigate the perk list

- Reduced reload times of the Uzis and Mp5 weapons by 30%

- Overhauled the flamethrower weapon: improved line of fire and reduced reload time by 30%. You'll be able to use it to selectively kill instead of just aiming in a wide arc/area.

- Number of bodies option: updated so when set to zero (0), all bodies fade out immediately, no bodies linger on screen. Use this for a clean battlefield without bodies being confused with live zombies.

- Added an option to disable comms/radial menu (useful for gamepad users who accidentally press down the thumbstick)

- Initial number of zombies on map scales according to difficulty setting. Use high settings for Fastest 100 and 1000 kills leaderboards. You should be able to hit 100 kills in less than 30 secs. when playing on Severe or in Survival Mode.

- Counterblow no longer affects bosses in multiplayer games

- Several small bugfixes

Oh wow. This came out of nowhere, and it seems basically brilliant. Valve just tossed up a webpage for Steam Greenlight, wherein “developers post information, screenshots, and videos for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution.” So basically, it’s Steam Workshop for entire games, and – in theory – it gives a wartime-battlecry-like voice to smaller developers who felt they weren’t being heard by Valve. Further details and thoughts after the break.

Valve has unveiled Steam Greenlight, a community hub for finding, discussing and getting new games published on Steam, crowdsource style, set to launch at the end of August.

"For many stores, there is a team that reviews entries and decides what gets past the gates," Valve writes. "We're approaching this from a different angle: The community should be deciding what gets released. After all, it's the community that will ultimately be the ones deciding which release they spend their money on."

Steam Greenlight will allow developers to post their games, whether in concept or playable stages, and receive direct feedback from the community. Potential players will be able to vote for games they'd like to see launch on Steam. Games won't be published according to any specific number of votes, but rather to "relative interest" compared with other games on Greenlight.

"We are most interested in finding the games that people want, not requiring them to always hit a specific number of votes," Valve says.

Games must at least run on a Windows PC, but can of course be developed for other platforms simultaneously. Interested developers need a "valid and non-limited Steam account (yes, that means you'll need to own a game on Steam)," and to fill out a submission form including at least one video, four screenshots, and a written description including expected system requirements.

Indies, welcome home.
