Stealth Bastard Deluxe slips onto Steam on November 28. Curve Studios' rebuild of its freeware PC prototype is priced at $9.99. The original version remains free-to-download.

Deluxe offers 80 side-scrolling levels full of challenging traps and oodles of subsequently spilled blood. The game comes with mechanical additions in its new guise, including teleporters, decoy devices, and intriguing-sounding shadow generators, as well as a revised editor.

Steam's Portal 2 now supports split-screen and Big Picture mode, meaning PC and Mac players can enjoy inter-spatial robo-cooperation on their TV sets. Valve's patch notes say split-screen co-op is accessed by pressing X on the second controller in the first co-op menu.

The patch also provides a couple of other minor fixes, including not being able to exit the Robot Enrichment or Create Test Chambers menus with the controller. Super Hexagon is coming to Steam for PC and Mac on Tuesday, November 27, for $3 (with the potential for a discount at launch). That's the same price as the iOS version that we are extremely fond of, even though it's "an overwhelming experience - for a few seconds at a time."

Super Hexagon prides itself on creating a challenge, with death generally a given after seconds of play, rather than minutes or hours - unless, of course, you're developer Terry Cavanagh, who can calmly complete his own game on the "Hexagonest" mode, in front of a room full of people. Like a wizard.

"I'm sorry this has taken so long," Cavanagh writes on his Steam announcement. "I appreciate your patience with me! I wanted to launch much sooner than this, but ultimately I just wasn't happy with the performance of the flash version." Cavanagh rewrote the entire game in C++, meaning the Steam version runs at a higher resolution than the iOS version, and it's "fast and silky smooth on every machine I've been able to get my hands on - a very important thing for a game like this."

Super Hexagon on Steam won't support gamepads at the outset, though Cavanagh hopes to add that after launch, along with a Linux version once Steam Linux goes public. As Cavanagh says, "See you on the leaderboards!"

Updates to Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

- Fixed the Tank's primary attack sometimes choosing different sequences between the client and server. Fixes hit traces not always matching the visible animation.
- Fixed the Tank's left-handed attack using the right hand's position for hit traces.
- Player-controlled Tanks now always choose the right arm horizontal swing sequence for primary attacks. Fixes some attacks not connecting when it appears they should have, due to the inability to predict which swing animation would be randomly chosen.

Finally, Children of the Nile is a city-building sim set in ancient Egypt - the Enhanced Edition is a Steam key, while the Desura/DRM-free code included in the bundle is based on the 2004 original, Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile.

- Exo armor changed from to 300/390/480/570 to 400/460/520/580.
- Welder rate reduced from 125/sec to 90/sec.
- Reduced shadow step cost from 15 to 10.
- Increased blink momentum to be close to build 220.
- Increase start blink energy cost from 8 to 12.
- Shift Hatch now creates 2 eggs, but costs 5 resources and has a 5 second cool down (was 1 tres per egg, no cooldown).
- Increased trait structure (Shell, Spur, Veil) mature health by ~20%. Also increased their base health to be closer to their previous mature health.
- Reduced spore research time from 90 to 60.
- Hive build time increased from 150 seconds to 180 seconds.
- Reduced Onos Gore range by 0.5 meters.
- Added cooldown to shift hatch ability.
- Lowered max healing on Crag.
- Added minimum healing from Hives.
- Changed combat timeout to 4 seconds.
- Reduced mega regeneration (max regeneration is now 10 per second instead of 120).
- Doubled ARC rate of fire (halved damage)

Fix
- Fixed bug where the server would leak memory under some circumstances.
- The ghost Power Node no longer takes damage, fixes a problem where the Power Node could not be rebuilt after being destroyed in some cases.
- Fixed rare bug where a Hive could become invulnerable if it was killed in the same frame as it finishes building.
- Fixed sound bug causing ambient sounds in the world to not play correctly.
- Fixed unbuilt shifts being able to generate eggs.
- Fixed Exo and Mine tooltips.
- Fixed regeneration effect showing up in combat.
- Fixed the "filter modded servers" option not always working correctly in the server browser.

PlanetSide 2 is Now Available on Steam and is Free to Play!

Across the continents of Auraxis, thousands of players come together in enormous battles to win control of critical territories and key resources for their Empire. With an extensive skill tree and free-form class-based system, players are able to customize their soldier, weapons and vehicles to match their play-style, as well as the needs of their squad, outfit or Empire. Battles can last for days or weeks, so players need to build alliances and specialized combat outfits to take on long-term strategic and tactical initiatives. With aircraft and ground vehicles, as well as infantry combat, the battles are larger and more intense than ever before.

Steam's Autumn sales is dated for November 21-27, while the oft-bargainous holiday sale snowballs across December 20 to January 4. The dates were revealed by Tamás Bakó, CEO of Artery Studios, who says Valve contacted him about putting Secrets of the Magic Crystals in the upcoming Steam sales. We've also had the dates confirmed to us by an indie developer, who received them in an email direct from Valve.

Last year Steam's Autumn sale spanned November 23-27, while the wintertime sale also kicked off on December 20 before retiring at the turn of 2012.

Sonic Adventure 2 followed its rainbow all the way to Steam this week, landing on the digital PC platform for $9.99. The XBLA/PSN add-on content pack "Battle Mode" is also available on Steam for $2.99, adding six extra characters and 21 two-player battle maps from GameCube's Sonic Adventure Battle.

The platformer's jump to Steam may also indicate the imminence of Nights HD, a fellow Sonic Heritage Collection member and confirmed for PC this past summer. Both games flew onto PSN and XBLA last month, with Sega noting they'd arrive on PC in the coming months. We've reached out to Sega for further details on a potential Nights PC release date.
