Endless Space, which includes "Echoes of the Endless," the game's second free content pack, is free to play this weekend on Steam. Not only is the 4X strategy game free this weekend, but it's also 50 percent off at $15. The game is free to play until Sunday at 1PM Pacific and 50 percent off until Monday at 10AM Pacific.

We gotta hand it to Amplitude Studios: they've certainly supported their game, taking a title that launched with some rough spots during the summer and smoothing them out. If you enjoy games like Civilization or Masters of Orion, you definitely owe it to yourself to download Endless Space and give it a spin around the Milky Way.

Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition is Now Available on Steam!

The Enhanced Edition contains Sword of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter and the first expansion, the End of Flesh. The new expansion introduces the new playable race, the Loa. The Dinosaur Skin Pack 1 for Primal Carnage is Now Available on Steam

GameStop started selling Steam cards back in May. Now UK retailer GAME is getting in on it, announcing the arrival of Steam Wallet vouchers in its stores. GAME is carrying codes in £5, £10, £20, and £50 denominations, and offering an additional 33 percent on trade-ins toward said vouchers.

Rather than fancy cards, you'll just get a code on a receipt from GAME, which makes us wonder why the denominations are limited. In any case, it'll be easy to clean out your physical collection and clutter up your digital collection at the same time.

Valve is giving the Steam Greenlight to 13 more games and six non-gaming bits of software, taking the total for software advanced via Greenlight to 50. Moreover, the new batch of greenlit games includes a few recognizable names, including MMORPGs Darkfall: Unholy Wars and Dawn of Fantasy, and, yes, laserdisc classic Dragon's Lair.

Digital Leisure, who only this year brought Dragon's Lair to Xbox Live Arcade, will now bring the 1983 arcade game to Steam. As with the XBLA release, the new port will feature remastered game footage in 720p HD video.

50 Titles Receive Greenlight Since Launch

November 30, 2012 - Valve today revealed the third set of games and first set of Software titles to advance through Steam Greenlight and be offered worldwide distribution via the popular platform for games and software.

The latest collection of games and first set of Software titles to advance through Greenlight were selected for having either the highest number of positive votes or on an incredible upward trajectory since being added to Greenlight.

With these titles, 13 games and six Software titles (see full list below), a total of 50 titles have advanced through Steam Greenlight and been offered Steam distribution agreements since Greenlight launched in August.

"In just three months, the community has helped us identify 50 new titles for us to offer via Steam," said Alden Kroll of Valve. "With the help of Greenlight, the indie games market share of games sold on Steam has increased by 50 percent for a third consecutive year. That's a stat we are proud of, but one we also hope to increase as we learn more about Greenlight and continue to refine it in the new year."

Steam Greenlight is a new platform feature that enlists the community's help in selecting some of the next games to be released on Steam. Launched on August 30, Greenlight allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince Community members that their game should be released on Steam.

AI
- Removed growth and fleet upkeep bonus for the AI.
- AI for newbie is less aggressive and less militarized.
- Lowered normal Pirates difficulty.
- During a deal, the AI values a resource depending on the number he already owns.


BALANCING
- Reduced the science trade route multiplier from 2 to 0.5.

FIXES
- Fixed the way AI manages its ship's production so it doesn't fall into bankruptcy anymore.
- Fixed a potential desync in MP when unlocking a technology by a random event.
- Fixed an issue where the random events frequency is not tied to the game speed.
- Fixed an issue where entering planet view after scraping a population improvement causes an assert.
- Fixed an issue where desert planet does not display all life simulation effects.
- Fixed an issue where life simulation effects are not properly displayed on high population planets.
- Fixed an issue where the ships created by events don't have the good amount of HP.
- Fixed an issue where an assert occurred for a same random event for two empires.
- Fixed an issue with the anomaly reduction of the hell gourds.

Headup Games are trying an interesting tactic to get more Steam Greenlight up votes for their game, Bridge Constructor: they’re giving it away for free. Expressing their frustration at not getting into the Greenlight top 100, the company have suggested that people might like to vote them up in exchange for getting the game entirely for no pennies (and DRM free). It’s a bold and brave move, and you can see from it just how important getting on to Steam is for companies like Headup, that they’ll give their product away to Greenlight voters in order to get noticed. It’ll be interesting to see whether anyone else employs similar tactics to get those vital upvotes as competition hots up.

After all, Steam is continuing to grow as a market, and recent peaked with six million concurrent users over Thanksgiving weekend. PC Gaming/Dead, etc.
