Why isn't there a Sonic Adventure 2 forum? oh well.
Sonic Adventure 2 was a sequel to the somewhat succesful Sonic Adventure. Just like Sonic adventure, this game has the forumula of playing different characters for different style of gameplay. For example, Sonic is your basic speed and grinding gameplay, while Tails is shooting and platforming. There are two story modes, and a secret one, but I don't wanna spoil it for you. One is the "Good" campaign, in where you play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. The "Bad" campaign are for our anti-heros of the game. You get to play as Shadow-- a newly introduced character--, Rouge (also new), and Dr. Eggman/Robotnik. Shadow plays the same as sonic, but with different levels. Same thing applies to Rouge and Dr. Eggman.
GAMEPLAY
Sonic's gameplay consists of running and homing attacks, but also throws in sliding, hanging, grinding, and ski boarding. They pulled off speed very well in this game, but there are bugs in this game. Sometimes when running through the loops (most notably in green forest) you clip through and fall to your death. When jumping to a platform, sometimes it doesn't respond well, and you can just ever so slightly fall off the side of the platform. In grinding segments, it seems kind of fun and goes very fast (which I assume is what they were going for), however, when there are two rails, this may get a bit tricky. You see, sometimes when you want to jump to the next rail, you'll either quick jump to it, or manually jump up and hopefully land on the rail. This can lead to your death when used in curves or loops. Homing attack can sometimes be a bit derpy, but it works. The Stages used for Sonic's gameplay is pulled off very well (with the exception of some bugs), and has boss fight battles that can sort of be a pain, but nothing to worry about.
Tails' gameplay is very slow and consistent and mainly focuses on Aiming, shooting, and jumping. These are the levels (IMO) that I dislike. Jumping can consist of sliding off of platforms, usually leading to your death. Eventually, the shooting will get tired very quickly. They have upgrades like hovering, and bazookas, insuring you can hover to places you couldn't go, and shoot metal boxes. The bossfights in here are your basic Mech Vs. Mech. Just shoot and shoot. Overall, I have gotten tired of Tails.
DIS YOU MAIN MAN KNUCKLES, AND HE SORT OF GETS LONG AND TEDIOUS. His levels are okay, but better than tails'. Your objective is to find three master emerald pieces in a bunch of levels. That's pretty much it. These are easy, but can take very long, especially when you see that some levels are humongous. He has gameplay mechanics such as Digging and gliding. Sometimes you'll have to dig for some emeralds, and sometimes you'll find rings underground too. Knuckles' isn't too bad, but just takes forever.
Shadow, Rouge, and Eggman are the same as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.
SOUND
I AIN'T GONNA LET IT GET TO ME, I'M JUST GONNA CREEP.
Basically, every song is awesome.
STORY
Sonic is captured because the police think he's done some crimes due to a doppleganger. (fuk da police yo) Sonic finds the copy and proceeds to be retarded, because eggman wants to take over the world again oh no. So Sonic and Tails are off to kick his ass again. Knuckles was just bein' dope till some batbitch took his emerwoards. So he's coming along too i guess. they proceed to have wacky shenanigans and attempt to stop eggman. Sonic and Shadow meet again, and have a final battle while running and avoiding eachother's attacks.
Now for the Dark story. Eggman has recruited shadow because spoilers spoilers. They also recruit a batbitch because she's like indiana jones with emeralds. Eggman plots his world domination with the emeralds and his space colony, ARK. Shadow seeks to find his memory, and recovers little by little as the story progresses. then wacky shenanigans again, and then shadow and sonic meet face to face and fight.
THE VERDICT
Sonic Adventure 2 is a good game, but it has its flaws and downsides as well. Satisfying people who love speed, and I guess if you like the Tails and knuckles stage too. I've had fun with this game forever.
