Relive the glory days of 16-bit gaming, when every game had to feature a rodent with an attitude.
Lord Crump
you guys should give this game a shot; not as good as the original classic, but still decent
Lord Crump
The 2D artwork featured throughout looks halfway decent; it bugs me how they couldn't have just gone with a hand-drawn 2D style like that instead, but oh well. It's a satisfying game either way.

Everyone expects a Mario game to be good -- and it's even easier to expect quality when the new game is a direct follow-up to a game as universally adored as Super Mario Galaxy.

However, even given the high expectations, the reception Super Mario Galaxy 2's getting is startling. There are, as of right now, eight scores equivalent to 100 percent on the game's Metacritic page, a range befitting the title our own Randy Nelson called "the best Mario game ever." We've only quoted one of the 100-percenters below, in the interest of variety.
  • Edge (10): "This is a game that refuses to bore you, that can take you to the 60-star mark before asking you to do the same thing twice. It reuses assets, but almost never recycles ideas; you'll never see another title so thrifty, or so gratuitous."
  • Game Informer (93/100): "Sure, it's not the total reinvention of the genre we've come to expect from a new Mario title, but as a platformer fan I'm happy to get more Mario to tide me over. This game is a testament to the enduring appeal of the genre, as well as Nintendo's ability to create fresh new gameplay out of a decades-old formula."
  • Game|Life (9/10): "Super Mario Galaxy 2 is thus simultaneously more and less than its predecessor. It expands and elaborates on the gameplay in unpredictable ways, but the last one felt like a bigger, more complete adventure. That said, better core gameplay with less window dressing is infinitely preferable to the reverse."

#pullquote I've seen the PlayStation 3 compared to a lot of things in my lifetime, from a grill to a brick and everything in between. But a GameCube? That's new. More »

#delayofgame Originally fixed for a summer release, today Sega pegged Sonic the Hedgehog 4 to "moar like latter half of 2010," while touting the delay with a brave cheerfulness and saying it'll allow for incorporating fan feedback into the game's development. More »

While the whole game industry was apparently tanking last month, it looks like people were still snapping up Microsoft Points. TechFlash noted late last week that the 1600 Microsoft Point card (equivalent to $20 in Earth money) was the top-selling "accessory" for both March and April, according to NPD. We decided to get in touch with the NPD Group for a closer look at how the accessory battle has been shaping up.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 1600 point card's closest competitors come from Nintendo (people have to play all those copies of New Super Mario Bros. Wii with something after all). In April, the Wii Nunchuk and Remote took the second and third spots, respectively. In March, the second and third spots belonged to the Nunchuk and Wii Motion Plus. The month prior, the card was actually at No. 2, so it seems like Microsoft is doing a pretty brisk business in MS Points.

The question, of course: Just why was everyone stocking up on Microsoft Points? Oh, right.

I was always decent at math (95% avg). However, last summer I discovered I liked it. The assholes @ my school let me skip OLNY one year. So this year I am in the 9th grade thanking 10th grade math. HOVEVER.... I found a hax in school protocols; this year (in 3 weeks) I will take the grade 11 mathematics exam and receive the credit for that course. Thereafter, in September, I will write for the 12th grade (advanced functions) and take the AP statistics and calculus courses.

Thanks to my friend I spent $300+ on anime figures and the like within the last 6 months or so.

I bought:

Yoko, space ver. from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Limit Gunz (random figure I found in a store)

*crag*ing Black Rock Shooter (my favorite)

I also have a Revoltech of Professor Layton and a Gashapon-thingy of Viral from Gurren Lagann (he's my favorite character).

So yeah, my nerr level has increased tenfold.

Nastasia
lol anime figures
you should give me the layton one
Geno
Well, I wouldn't say that Professor Layton is an anime figure, cuz everyone has an action figure of some game character... I would have gotten him regardless because I'm looking forward to the Professor Layton movie.
