Glad to see that I’m not the only one clamoring for a StarTropics sequel. I mean, it took Kid Icarus a very long time to hop into today’s gaming scene, so I guess the same thing could happen for StarTropics. Too bad the series never had the same visibility that Kid Icarus had. Article [...]

#education When his five-year-old daughter built a treehouse by herself in Minecraft, Joel Levin, a computer teacher at Manhattan's Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, got the idea to try incorporating the PC game into his lesson plan at school. He worried about numerous possibilities that the game would simply be incompatible with students that young, but he was relieved and gratified to discover he was wrong. More »

You may have noticed the "Styles" options below the cbox, this was me testing out different visual layouts for the site.  I have concluded that this new style is the best as it gives a full screen of posts with a strong visual impact.

Hover over the page and click on the Show Menus link in the upper left to show the menus and cbox.

Enjoy!

Apparently you guys can't handle the future of blog interface design. Way ahead of it's time.

Maiq I present Smashboards. For the entirety of Friday, it played Rebecca Black's "Friday", turned the background yellow, and had a banner up saying "Friday World Forums". It started automatically and had a pause button tucked into the corner. The pause button was the only saving grace. I did not refresh for the ENTIRE day.

#flashback This week marks my third anniversary with Kotaku, spending all of that as the site's weekend editor. In April 2008, on my third weekend here, my brother Fletch and I unloaded this post - "Two Brothers Meditating Upon Questions of Pac-Man," originally published April 19, 2008. A hypothetical calculation of Pac-Man's, er, metabolic functions, it became one of Kotaku's all-time humor classics. It's re-presented here, updated for the site's current design, with a gallery now featuring two alternate, unpublished images. More »

I thought wolves don't attack creepers?

Because of the whole "they'd cause explosions because they don't know how to back off" thing.

Or maybe it's just wild wolves.

Super-Claus
well mine attacked it
but then again i hit it twice with a daimond sword so it was basically dead anyways

Bummer news for Mega Man fans coming from Capcom this morning. According to a recent posting on the game’s official blog, Mega Man Universe has been cancelled. In addition to this announcement, the publisher also shot out a quick apology to those looking forward to the game’s once-impending Spring 2011 release across both XBLA and PSN.

Mega Man Universe was an updated take on the Mega Man formula that married user-created content to classic 2D Mega Man action. Capcom claimed that it was set to “deliver the most creative Mega Man experience yet” with MMU, allowing users to generate their own levels, create their own characters from prefab parts, and assign their own special weapons and items. There was also a touch of crossover appeal to the game--several classic Capcom characters such as Ryu and Sir Arthur were set to make an appearance in it.

The reason given for the cancellation of the project, according to an Andria Sang translation of the post, was “various circumstances.” One of those circumstances might have been the departure of Keiji Inafune, a creative lead on the project, but we'll probably never know for sure why Universe was cut.

As both Europe and North America count down the (still unknown) days until the launch of Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play smart phone, PSOne games compatible with the "PlayStation Phone" have started popping up on the Android Market. Five games, in fact, including Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Jumping Flash, MediEvil 2 and Syphon Filter. That's right -- the Play is ready to, er, play like it's circa 1995-97.

All of the games are selling for £3.99 ($6) -- the same going price as on PSN. MediEvil 2 and Syphon Filter are available in five languages (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) while the rest are English-only releases. They're also all (predictably) platform-locked to the Xperia Play (Sony Ericsson R800i). All this one day after Google removed the PSOne emulator, PSX4Droid, attributing the action to a Content Policy violation.
Super-Claus

too bad its incredibly easy to instal any app/file onto your android without the need of the market, this also goes for apps that have been removed.

Capcom has posted an apology and cancellation notice on the official Japanese website for Mega Man Universe, an odd DIY Mega Man game that was scheduled to launch on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network later this year. The retro-styled platformer was a cheeky amalgam of remade Mega Man 2 levels, customizable characters (including the crooked caricature from the North American Mega Man 1 box art) and user-created levels.

According to Capcom's notice, the decision to extinguish Mega Man Universe was given impetus by "various circumstances." Those may involve the departure of Mega Man creator and Universe conceptual lead, Keiji Inafune, who resigned from Capcom in October 2010. We've requested further comment from Capcom.
