What is it with WiiWare games and deceptive titles? Despite the somewhat lurid name given to its titular creatures, Learning with the Pooyoos is anything but. We have no idea why these critters are called Pooyoos, especially considering they appear to be just cutesy-fied animals. As the title implies, Learning with the Pooyoos is geared toward children, and aims to teach them about things like shapes and colors. Its greatest contribution, however, is undoubtedly the theme song, which has got to be the record holder for most instances of the word "poo" in a children's song. Enjoy the distilled madness in the trailer above. Learning with the Pooyoos should hit WiiWare in the UK on September 18. [Via GoNintendo]

The first semester of New York City's Quest to Learn began last week on the 9th, with an inaugural class of around 75 sixth graders in NYC's Chelsea neighborhood taking classes that employ games (of all types) in learning. "One thing I want to emphasize: this is not a school about just playing video games ... this is a school that uses the system of games to deliver rich discussion," the school's principal, Aaron Schwartz, told Joystiq over the phone this morning. "We use games as a medium here." Education at Quest to Learn is delivered through a variety of means other than games, though game systems are a focus for teaching the specific subset of student that Q2L targets: "digital kids." We pressed him on exactly how the students will be using games like LittleBigPlanet to assist with education. "Right now, one of our classes called 'The Way Things Work' [math/science] is using clips from LittleBigPlanet to introduce this race called the 'Troggles' who are having problems with how things work," he said. " Our kids are studying simple machines, so the Troggles have reached out to our children for help building their machines." As the semester progresses, students will build on their knowledge by creating something a bit more complex -- a Rube Goldberg machine. "Some of them will be doing it in actuality, some may be doing it virtually, and from there they'll use LBP to understand other concepts." Quest to Learn plans on adding one new grade annually (up to 12) and is currently hiring teachers for next year.

Attention, footie fans, Major Nelson has news from on high. That news is this: A demo for Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. We don't know much about the demo, other than the fact that it features multiplayer as well as "incredibly detailed visuals and refined controls and skills." We also know it will eat up one whole gigabyte of your hard drive. Finally, and this is just a guess, the demo probably allows you to kick balls. Hard. Download and enjoy. Add the PES 2010 demo to your 360 download queue

It looks like the inhabitants of Liberty City now have more to fear than crazy foreigners and roving bike gangs, according to a recent Weazel News expose. Terrorists have made their way into the city and brought their tools of destruction with them. Sticky bombs, exploding bullets (doesn't every bullet kinda explode?) and attack helicopters are just a few of these new dangers facing players in upcoming The Ballad of Gay Tony (not to mention every Burger Shot-loving local on the street). But, thanks to the hard work of the Weazel News team, we have a good idea who's behind this sudden influx: Frickie Van Hardenberg, an African emigrant with a sordid past. What? Seriously, that's his name. Watch the news clip above if you don't believe us.[Thanks, Juan!]

The identity of the PSP role-playing game which Disgaea developer Nippon Ichi teased in July has been revealed. Appropriately titled Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku (which translates to Absolute Hero Modding Project), the game pits players up against randomly generated dungeons, where they can search for equipment with which to fully customize their character, or battle enemies in order to level up their characters forever. The game has a 2010 launch window for Japan, but Ichi hasn't mentioned anything about a North American release. That's a shame -- based on these screenshots over at Dengeki, it looks right up our isometric alley.

Get ready to lie, cheat and steal because ONE2ONE Collectibles has revealed an insanely detailed Master Chief bust for the low, low price of $249. This "strictly limited," 1:2 scale bust of Halo's most popular playable character -- unless that gets topped somehow -- stands at 12 inches tall and 12 inches wide, and is set to be released during Q4 2009. If the Chief isn't your character of choice, ONE2ONE also revealed that busts of a Brute Chieftain and ODST Marine are on the way. Get those pocketbooks ready, ladies and gentlemen. This could be an expensive fourth quarter, after all.[Via TeamXbox]

While it's not clear if the jettisoning of Konami IDs extends beyond the confines of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 and into Konami's corporate plans going forward, fans of the stalwart soccer franchise can breathe a sigh (of relief, this time!) as producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka told G4 that Konami's much maligned authentication system would not be appearing in PES 2010. "We got so many feedback from the users saying the same thing as you said," Takatsuka said, referring to the poor experience relayed to him. "So, we gave up the Konami ID system." That they gave up the system on Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is clear; whether all online-enabled Konami games in the future will abandon the redundant authentication system is still unclear. After a clumsy Metal Gear Online launch, thanks to the Konami ID servers crashing, and Kojima's impression that the system was "not working well," we're inclined to think we won't be seeing it on future Kojima Productions titles either. We've asked Konami to comment on Takatsuka's comment and clarify the status of the Konami ID system going forward.
