Piranha Bytes' Risen will make its scheduled PC release on October 2; however, the Xbox 360 version has been delayed until "early next year," a release window that's just begging for more. (Also, let's just ignore that our GameFly account deems the console version as "canceled.")Sporting a solid voice cast, the fantasy RPG by the developers of Gothic 3, is a toss-up in the quality department -- which means that Australia was either punished or spared by the game's "banning."

Sony's been a tad bit impish lately with its rollout of new hardware. First it surprised us with a PS3 "Slim" on the very day it was announced -- today it hit us with a final retail PSP Go system just one night after we played a bunch of games on one at a preview event. So, we of course got the unboxing on video (and in pictures below) but there was one stipulation: We can't actually say anything about the final hardware until a week from Monday, so you'll just have to enjoy the schweet tunes we picked for your aural enjoyment as the unboxing (and our vocal silence) unfolds.

Nintendo of Australia is going to do a soft re-release of Professor Layton and the Curious Village in Australia. This re-release is just an excuse to use the newer boxart that looks more like the art for the sequel. I guess this new boxart really does the trick with consumers!

Ah, what's a Halo game release without midnight launch events? Unsurprisingly, both Best Buy and GameStop will be hosting midnight launches for Halo 3: ODST. While Best Buy will simply be selling the game at midnight, Monday, September 21, GameStop has some festivities planned. According to Team Xbox, activities planned include RC Warthog and "pedal-powered go-cart" races, Halo trivia contests as well as a Halo cosplay contest. Before you don your favorite Cortana costume, you should call your local GameStop to see when and if festivities begin (most stores will begin at 9:00pm local time). Joystiq has also been told that "some" Game Crazy locations will hold midnight launch events. You'll have to contact you're local store to find out. For a list of all participating Best Buy stores, click right here. For participating GameStops, download this PDF. Or, if you don't feel like waiting in line for three hours, you could always try Wal-Mart. Source -- Best Buy - Halo 3: ODST Midnight Store Opening Locations! When we first saw a promo for Final Fantasy XIII "Episode Zero", we got pretty excited. Could this be a PSP prequel? An anime OVA? A PSN/XBLA playable teaser? Nope, Episode Zero is none of these things.Instead, Episode Zero is a series of text stories written by Jun Eishima that lead up to the main FF13 story. Unfortunately for most of us, they're currently only scheduled for release on the official Japanese Square Enix website. While we're certain some fans will appreciate these short stories, we think it's a total missed opportunity to cash in on an eager fanbase.[Via Andriasang]

This game sucks…because Bowser sucks down a whole bunch of stuff. Do you get it!? Hahaha…not a very good campaign. Remember what happened last time Nintendo tried a campaign like this? Yeah, the ‘This game stinks’ campaign caught a lot of heat from Nintendo fans. Some people think to this very day [...]

Either they didn’t notice that this was a joke boxart, or they’re in on the E3 joke from E3 2008. Which one do you think it is?! I feel so bad for Cammie.
