Ludomusicians, rejoice! The Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 2 received a massive title update earlier today, adding a whole slew of oft-requested features to Harmonix's beefy music platform. The most notable of these additions is that the game now supports wireless microphones, such as those used with Lips. Other changes include improved hammer-ons and pull-offs, background downloading for music store purchases and the "Audition Mode," which allows Rock Band Network users to test out their homebrewed Rock Band tracks. In a Rock Band forum thread, Harmonix's Sean Baptiste explained the PS3 version of the update is currently working its way through Sony's certification process. We've yet to hear mention of a Wii version of the patch. C'mon, Harmonix! Waggle-rockers need love too! [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

At first glance, you would never believe that the one-handed Xbox 360 controller above is the work of modder extraordinaire, Ben Heck. Given the svelte, smooth and attractive one-handed controllers he's made before, it's a bit hard to believe this is his work. However, the Heck points out this was a rush-job, so we suppose we can forgive him just this once. The controller features a duplicate left analog stick on the bottom, which players move by placing it on their leg. There are also extra an extra back button and left bumper button just above the face buttons. To top everything off, Ben Heck even squeezed the left trigger under the right side, where it can be pulled with the middle finger. Not his most elegant work, but impressive nonetheless. See a video of it in action after the break. [Via Engadget]

Maz_Killer noticed somethign curious when listening to the original .NSF from Battletoads. There was a track that was unfamiliar to him. It turns out that the track never actually made it into Battletoads as a game, but it was still included on the cart. A song that didn’t make the cut, but [...]

The Crystal Chronicles name has always meant players are in for a more experimental Final Fantasy experience. While the spin-off series is still infused with the essence of the main, Roman numeral'd franchise, it's still like eating an egg that tastes like an orange. The latest Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers trailer highlights this peculiarity quite clearly. Heavy on action, with a little sarcasm and some sexiness ... even for Crystal Chronicles, this game still looks different. Keep an eye out for our TGS hands-on preview coming soon.

Remember when it was first announced that Resident Evil 5 wasn't coming to the Wii, and fans got really upset, because Resident Evil 4 on the Wii was totally awesome? It seems that decision wasn't made due to Capcom's oversight of said awesomeness -- rather, it looks like they chose to bring that experience to the PS3 with the ball-pointed PlayStation Motion Controller. Seriously, check out this gameplay sample (video posted after the break) from Sony's TGS keynote and tell us that doesn't look exactly like RE4 on the Wii. Okay, the PS3 version is significantly prettier -- and due to the fact that Sony's controller has no nunchuck (which forces the player to hold a SIXAXIS in one hand and the wand in another) the controls look a bit more awkward this time around.
