Is seeing Travis Touchdown a completely crazy thought? Would Nintendo actually allow and M-rated character to appear in their fighting series? It’s a tough call to make. Obviously, Travis could be put into the next Smash Bros. and kept at the ‘Teen’ rating that the franchise achieves, but just the mere nod [...]

Nintenho snapped these pics while out at the local mall, and she was particularly blown away by the Bowser ad. She said that the ‘poster’ actually moved, breathed, and lit up! I’m going to have to see this one for myself!

That's it, folks -- the game industry has finally made it into the bigtime! With Brütal Legend's dark overlord Tim Schafer appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon leading up to the game's October 13 release (video found after the break), it's become clear to us that we've finally made it. What more could we ask than one of the game industry's greats appearing on a late night television show? Next thing we know, editors of Joystiq sister site Engadget will be appearing on Fallon and Halo will have its own soda! Yeah, right, like that will ever happen. [Via Kotaku] [Image credit]

I guess everyone should be expecting to get a paper sleeve with their game, instead of an actual box. That’s a bit disappointing, don’t you think? Click here to check out more pics (thanks Josh!)

This price drop sees the Wii going from 1,100,000 Colombian pesos to 700,000. Doesn’t seem like a huge drop when you’re talking in those kind of numbers, does it?! Thanks to Bloodwalker for the heads up.

Level 5's Yoshiaki Kusada recently spoke with Kotaku at the Tokyo Game Show about whether the developer was working on a new installment in its debut franchise, Dark Cloud. "At this moment we don't have a specific plan for a sequel in the Dark Cloud series," Kusada explained, but later added, "there are some who decided to join Level 5 because they love the Dark Cloud series. So, if requests from users should increase in the future, we would seriously consider making it." Level 5, please consider this our humble request: Please, please, please make Dark Cloud 3. Would it help if we went ahead and reviewed it? Fine, here we go: "Dark Cloud 3 is the greatest game ever created by anyone in the entire universe. Everyone should own it. In fact, failure to own it should be considered irresponsible. Its purchase should be federally mandated. If we did numerical scores, we'd give it a 68,439 out of 3." There's more than a few box quotes for you, Level 5. Now get to work. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

It's really difficult for us to write clever observations about any installments in Sony's "It Only Does Everything" ad campaign. For instance, the recent commercial for Uncharted 2 (posted after the jump) is already really funny -- trying to get a few cheap lulz at its expense would be a Herculean comedic task. Regardless, we'll give it the ol' college try: Man, that guy's girlfriend sure is confused, isn't she? She thinks it's a movie! What a silly misconception. Oh, look, she's got popcorn! Man, don't you hate it when you eat popcorn and a piece of shell gets stuck in the back of your throat? That's the worst, isn't it? You're all like "Hacccckkkkk! Caahllllkkk!" And it just won't come out! Yeah, we're done here.

At Tokyo Game Show 2009, NIS America took the time to announce a few new games for Western release. Amongst them was the sequel to Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!. The retro-themed anti-hero game comes equipped with 4 times more stages, 3.3 times more monsters and 2.3 times more heroes than the first game. The hilarious sort-of-localized trailer makes note that creatures at your disposal can also mutate through deformity, obesity and gigantism. Most likely, the Badman sequel will skip UMD and head straight to PSN release. Makes sense, considering the bite-sized nature of the game. But if for some reason you insist on having plastic packaging, go to the PlayStation.Blog to tell NIS that you really want a UMD version of the first game.

Oh cool, they're translating the second game, too. I am very happy. Sadly, Sony is forcing me to pirate it. Custom firmware cannot get on the Playstation Store, making you pirate downloadable games. I am truly sorry that I will have to do this, Badman.
Popple
Did you seriously just blame Sony for not allowing you in their store with illegal firmware.
Hopefully this one isn't as ball breakingly hard as the first.

A lot of fans of the Max Payne series have been hesitant to get completely excited about Rockstar's third installment in the series, largely due to the unfamiliar setting of San Paolo, Brazil, and the obvious aesthetic changes undergone by the game's titular anti-hero. Perhaps their fears will be abated by a recent Game Informer preview of the title, which analyzes the big differences between the first two installments and the boldly redesigned threequel. The preview mentions a few intriguing gameplay additions, including improved Bullet Time physics (thanks largely to the implementation of the Euphoria engine), and a cover system, which the game's devs promised would be optional. The article also explains the aforementioned aesthetic shifts. For instance, we learned that this older version of Max Payne isn't actually chubby. His beefier frame can be attributed to muscle, not obesity. That makes sense -- a diet consisting solely of whiskey and painkillers probably isn't loaded with saturated fats.
