While our Live Top 10 posts are usually reserved for the endless slap fight between the Halo and Call of Duty franchises -- Halo 3 remains on top, if you must know -- our attention was drawn directly to Xbox Live Arcade this week. Major Nelson reports that South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play rests at the top of the most purchased XBLA games for the week, while Lucidity -- which debuted the same week to mixed reviews -- failed to make the top ten at all. It's not a direct measurement of the title's early success, but it certainly doesn't bode well for LucasArts' original puzzle platformer. Based on the apparent success of South Park we have a suggestion for Lucidity 2: More cursing.

What better time than now to have another look at Earthworm Jim. This was the worm that managed to become a huge game success…so big that he got his own animated series. You know what, that was actually pretty good too! It’s rare to see popularity spin-off into quality work, but Jim [...]

click for Savage Moon: The Hera Campaign gallery Usually, when games head to a mobile platform from a home console they, by necessity, tend to get pared down. But it sounds like just the opposite is happening with the PSP version of PSN tower defense game Savage Moon. For The Hera Campaign, you'll now additionally have the option to access the Tactical Layer, a zoomed out view of the action that casts you as the Supreme Commander of the armada, deciding how and where resources will be used in the humans' fight against the Insectocytes. If you're interested in the plot of the new campaign (incomprehensible to the Savage Moon neophytes among us) you're gonna need to read for yourself.

Gran Turismo 5's Kazunori Yamauchi says he could give you his studio's next entry in the venerable racing-sim series right now ... but he won't. Speaking with Famitsu last week (translated by 1UP), the Polyphony Digital studio head explains that while "We could release it any time we want," he's more interested in trying to give the game "that classic GT-style." And though "daily progress is slow," the Japanese developer assures us that "it's still going forward at a steady clip."Unlike the PSP iteration's somewhat lackluster feature set, Yamauchi intends on going "way beyond gamer expectations" with GT5, even confirming the export of cars earned in GT PSP to next March's PS3 sequel. We're hoping he goes way beyond our expectations as well and delivers the game to other territories in a more timely fashion.

If you like FMV games, the iPhone port of Space Ace is something of a revelation. It's the full laserdisc game, in much better visual quality than most ports, on a handheld platform for five bucks. If you don't, it's just another FMV game, and everyone knows those aren't real games anyway. A German USK rating suggests that Digital Leisure is planning to port its predecessor, Dragon's Lair, to DSiWare. While we have no doubt that the DS hardware can run the game -- in fact, a Dragon's Lair conversion has been in progress for years by United Coders, and we wouldn't be surprised if that's what this is -- the file size is an issue. Space Ace on iPhone takes up 243MB, which is much larger than any DSiWare game. We hope Digital Leisure comes up with a solution for this issue other than porting the NES Dragon's Lair.[Via GoNintendo]
