The Onion has the WORLD EXCLUSIVE first details of Modern Warfare 3, which developer Infinity Ward is apparently putting the "final touches on." There's so much scrumptious information in the Onion report, it's almost like the respected media source made the whole thing up.Modern Warfare 3 will blow away its predecessor in the realism department, being the most "true to life" installment of the game ever produced. A "majority" of gameplay will have players hauling equipment, cleaning vehicles, experiencing home sickness and "filling out paperwork." Check out the full report after the break. We're so bummed we weren't invited to the reveal junket, which had journalists sleeping in the Pentagon and being briefed in "the war room" (which actually has a sign: "No Fighting Allowed!").

Previously available only for pre-order customers and Xbox Live Gold members, the demo is now open to all Xbox Live members. There's no WiiWare this week in Japan, but there is the best 8-bit adaptation of Street Fighter II ever. Not that the PC Engine version has much competition outside of pirate Famicom cartridges and the terrible Game Boy port. But the PC Engine's SF2 holds up respectably against even the Genesis and SNES versions. It's joined on Virtual Console by a pair of tank games from Namco. DSiWare offers a Chinese vocabulary learning tool and a new puzzle game by Intelligent Systems. Panel Connection involves setting panels into a grid to create an uninterrupe\ted exhaust path for a rocket. Street Fighter II': Champion Edition (PC Engine, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points) Grobda (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points Tank Force (Arcade, 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points) ACT Series: Chinese-Japanese Vocabulary (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Panel Connection: 3 Minute Rocket (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) [Image credit]

Though Visceral Games' video game adaptation of the classic parable known as Dante's Inferno (which, fun fact, was actually a book adaptation of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey) won't see the light of day until next February, we'll be getting our dirty, sin-soaked hands on a demo for the game in December. In 'The Gates of Hell,' players will be able to traverse the entire first level of the game, taking them from the surface world to the titular portcullis, where they must battle (and presumably kill) Death himself. We imagine the game gets much easier after, you know, there's no more Death.

Students participate in mobile competition around the Bay Area to create videogame levels on PSP.

"Oh, man -- it was so awesome. First multiplayer match I get into, and I get like, a 200 kill streak. It was in this weird airport lobby level, and everyone else must have had really bad lag or something, because they didn't move much -- but still! It was the coolest thing I've ever done, and I didn't get a Trophy for it. WTF?" While we're not certain Trophies are distributed for ... the feat mentioned above, it does seem that the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 is experiencing some trouble rewarding Trophies to its players. The problem seems to be with a pre-launch patch which, for some reason or other, disables the game's unlockable incentives. A fix for the issue has been discovered by a few fan sites, but we've contacted Infinity Ward to see when we can expect a more official solution to surface.

Update: Major Nelson has just confirmed that 0D Beat Drop will be joined by both NBA Unrivaled and Encleverment Experiment. Word has come down from on high, and this week's Xbox Live Arcade release is none other than 0D Beat Drop. What's that, you've never heard of 0D Beat Drop? Truth be told, neither have we. Thankfully, the game's Xbox.com page provides us all with the crucial details. If the above screenshot didn't tip you off, OD Beat Drop is a puzzle game; however, it has a musical twist, challenging players to drop pieces to the beat. OD Beat Drop can even analyze your own songs for use in the game (Protip: It's time to break out your Tetris soundtrack). The game will be available this Wednesday for 800 ($10). Also, if Tecmo is to be believed, NBA Unrivaled will release on XBLA this week as well. It's worth noting that the game was not included in Major Nelson's XBLA announcement and that publishers are frequently mistaken about XBLA launch dates, so it's anyone's guess what Wednesday holds.

The electronic incarnation of board game classic Monopoly is now available on Games on Demand for ... $30?! Sweet mercy, does that have luxury and income tax on it? The board game costs less than $20 and many electronic versions can be found for even less than that.As is our standard obligation, we'll mention that a used copy of the title can currently be found at GameStop for $25, which is still overpriced. Shouldn't this be a simple XBLA title, if anything? A $10 Xbox version of Monopoly would be lovely. Add Monopoly to your download queue

Sega of Europe revealed a new offering for PAL gamers who are way into Bayonetta, but not so way into Bayonetta that they're already buying the crazy five-disc soundtrack from Japan. The Bayonetta special edition, announced for release in the UK, Spain, France, and Australia, includes a single soundtrack disc, along with a hardcover art book. It'll be released alongside the regular edition of the game on January 8. Sega of America has yet to announce a special edition of Bayonetta, but we won't be shocked when the company does decide to pick up the extra money generated by such a release.

Wait, didn't everybody already buy this already? Even if your willpower or geography has kept you from picking up Modern Warfare 2, you're probably reading this as you drive to go do just that. Activision's marketing people like to call this one the most anticipated game of the decade, and there's no doubt it will sell oodles of copies from now until Modern Warfare 3: Even Moderner. But is it worth the hype? I spent some serious time pounding plastic to see if Infinity Ward's latest has the fun to back it up and you can find out what I thought right after the break. Just pull over first, okay?
