Much to the chagrin of many Street Fighter fans trying to get their online multiplayer on, matchmaking issues and lack of a mutliplayer lobby system really stood out as glaring missteps in Street Fighter IV. Thankfully, it appears that Capcom has taken the hint and will be including an eight-person multiplayer lobby for groups to observe other matches and virtually "quarter up," as it were. SSFIV's Masahiro Taguchi let the cat out of the bag on the official Japanese blog for the game (translated by Andriasang), saying that the regular ol' Street Fighter IV did not properly convey "the feeling of players gathering together for fights." He says that the ability to create multiplayer lobbies was on the table before creating SFIV, but was scrapped in favor of the one-on-one model currently in place. As frame rate can be a particularly important issue with fighting games relative to other genres, Taguchi makes a point to dispel any worries of online stuttering while observers look on to games in progress, though admitting that the process of making this lag free was a bit of a "technical feat." We're looking forward to putting Taguchi's claims to the test in 2010 when Super Street Fighter IV lands on our consoles. [Via Andriasang]

EA may be hurting, but there are still some bright spots, like when it announced Madden NFL 10's sales figures during its quarterly conference call with investors. The publisher revealed that the company "sold" 3.9 million copies globally, which isn't entirely accurate, as we've learned those are "sell-in" figures -- a fancy way of saying "shipped." EA's John Schappert stated that Madden had a rough start in August, with sales down 19 percent from the prior year, but that it rallied up eight percent year-over-year in September, thanks to the PS3 price drop. The company claims that Madden 10 has sold five percent more than last year's iteration on PS3 and Xbox 360 combined, as of the end of September. Not shabby for a down economy!

Tecmo just sent out a release date for Again, the latest mystery adventure game from Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory developer Cing. North American gamers will be able to watch digitized actors explore the past and get headaches from dollar bills in March 2010. In addition, the company surprised us with another March 2010 release date for a Cing-developed DS game: Monster Rancher DS. Two DS games in Tecmo's once-massive monster generating and collecting series came out on DS in Japan in 2007 and 2008, featuring the ability to unlock monsters by drawing on the screen or talking into the microphone, but nothing was ever said about a North American release until now. Monster Rancher DS features both local and online monster fighting, and the return of many of the nostalgic monsters you may remember from the older games, like that one with the big eye.

Okay, Mr. Saboteur. You're not going to listen to reason, are you? We asked nicely -- so very nicely -- that you stop blowing up those beautiful, elegant and endangered dirigibles. However, the latest batch of screenshots from your self-titled game have revealed that you haven't heeded our advice, and continue to detonate airships at the drop of your dusty, brown flat cap. That's how you want to do this, huh? Well, you can expect our harshly worded petition to surface within the next few days. Nope, sorry pal. Too late for apologies. This just got real, sir.

Ever have one of those days when you're up really late, just lookin' at art, and then you end up getting sucked into a dreamworld where you have to run through a series of levels based on surrealistic paintings, collecting crystals while avoiding nightmarish monsters? It's an extraordinarily relatable experience, and one that's serving as the premise for Halfbrick's soon-to-be-released PSP Mini titled Echoes. A recent press release from Halfbrick has revealed a Nov. 19 release date for the game, which will sell for the low, low price of $2.99. If you're curious what being inside a painting feels like, check out the game's debut trailer, which we've posted after the jump. Otherwise, just load up this image and put your face really close to the screen.
