I am thinking that many of you have plans to pick up The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, so you should head over to Club Nintendo and take advantage of the ‘Intend to Buy’ update! Thanks to Keith for the heads up.

Just look at that screenshot for a few seconds. Does anything look wrong? Perhaps a little disproportionate? Me thinks Krauser has a really small head…or huge everything else.

If you build it, they will come -- mostly for the loot. That's how Borderlands creative director Mike Neumann candidly describes the possibility of a sequel to his game. "Yes, I can probably confirm that there's a chance of a Borderlands 2 ," he told VG247 with a chuckle. "I mean, with anything, especially a new IP, if people want more and you can make more, and everybody can make money and do good business there, it obviously makes really good sense to do that."An unexpectedly large number of people thought it made really good sense to purchase the colorful, FPS-RPG hybrid. Neumann jokingly admits surprise at seeing stores running out of stock, even though "it certainly doesn't suck to be the people who made the game you can't keep in stock." Though plans for a sequel have yet to manifest outside of the water cooler area -- Gearbox is currently grinding through Borderlands DLC -- Neumann believes the "praise and love" for the franchise will make that first decision easier. "So yeah, if everything makes sense, Borderlands 2 seems like a no-brainer to me."

EndSights EA's John Riccitiello has got some 'splainin to do. Investors are bound to be frustrated with the video game publisher, which recently reported a net loss of $391 million, spurring a layoffs that affected more than a thousand employees. EA's decision to not be evil has seemingly backfired, with the company forced to focus on "core slate" games that can be iterated over and over again. The CEO is also blaming poor sales of the publisher's Wii titles. "I think the Wii platform has been a little weaker than we had certainly anticipated," Riccitiello told investors during a conference call this week. "And there is no lack of frustration to be doing that at precisely the time where we have the strongest third-party share. We are building the products that I think the most highly rated on the platform and at this point in time, generating the most revenue of any third-party platform."Certainly, no one can say EA hasn't been trying. Dead Space Extraction was praised by most critics, but managed a mere 9,000 units in first-month sales. "I really do think that the opportunity exists to find different ways to partner with first party in this case to sort of help establish in the minds of the consumer legitimacy of some of these other brands when they are going out," Riccitiello suggested, seeminlgy urging Nintendo to offer better support to third-parties that have been languishing on the Wii platform. Certainly, Nintendo can afford to share the wealth.[Via gi.biz]Source - Electronic Arts Q2 2010 Earnings Conference Call [PDF]

Sega has confirmed that it will not release Aliens vs. Predator in Germany. Following a report that suggested the publisher would avoid the German market altogether, we contacted Sega, which stated the game wouldn't make it to retail in Germany "without significant cuts that would harm the gameplay experience." The publisher explained that AvP was "developed to be consistent with the existing content in the Aliens and Predator universes," adding that the "gameplay and graphical and narrative style befit the mature themes" of the franchises.AvP is expected to receive an "18 rating" (or the equivalent) in territories outside of Germany and an M rating in the US. When asked about the status of the title in Australia, Sega told us that there was no word yet from the region. It would certainly be interesting if Germany was out due to the game's violence, but Australia was in. We'll continue to follow up with the publisher.

Trophy patch updated, online servers being upgraded, new patch on Friday

Click to enlarge Earlier today, website Scrawl stumbled upon what appears to be an unintentional first glimpse at a major PS3 firmware update. The somewhat tiny images Scrawl found buried, yet publicly accessible on Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's website, seem to hint at native Facebook integration on the console, along with the ability to change "gamer card" colors (as if the current friends list wasn't obnoxious enough) and view thumbnails of photos in a grid layout. The images are still up as of this posting, but we'd imagine Sony will be pulling them before too long -- legit or not. After all, these could simply be mock-ups of design ideas meant for internal eyes only, just ... bungled. The one element that isn't design-related, the Facebook settings subsection of User Accounts, has us thinking there's a higher than average chance these aren't simple mock-ups, but rather the result on a Sony slip-up. We contacted SCEE regarding the images and were told by a spokesperson that the company "doesn't comment on rumor or speculation."[Thanks Alex!]

It seems like only yesterday when players were complaining about Trophy-related issues in the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2. Wait a sec -- it was yesterday. According to a tweet by Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, a "trophy update" has been released. However, while said update fixes one problem, it apparently creates another. "It killed all multiplayer activity on MW2," tipster True_Darknight tells Joystiq. Today, launching the multiplayer mode from our own PS3 copy of Modern Warfare 2 did indeed prove futile, as we stared at the matchmaking screen for about five minutes before finally giving up.According to Bowling, PS3 owners can expect a "party invite update by Friday," which should hopefully resolve this issue. Until then, players will have to make due with the single-player campaign. It's not like this "multiplayer" thing is important, right?Update: Tipster Kenneth B. pointed us to a tweet from Activision support who says the MW2 outage is "totally unrelated to the patch." While this means a fix can be done before Friday, he admits "we don't have a hard ETA on the servers coming back up." We'll be keeping track of this problem, but don't forget to send us your tips.

What Nathan Drake possesses in charm and acrobatic adroitness, he seriously lacks in luck. Much like that fedora-capped, state-named adventurer, he never seems to end one of his adventures with the loot he set out to obtain, leaving his cash-flow as non-existent as his reservations over killing thousands of pirates and mercenaries. Therefore, we're not surprised to see he's been branching out, and is now putting his keen analytical mind to work as a detective in Big Fish Games' PC puzzle-solving title, The Broken Clues. Of course, the preceding paragraph only makes sense in a world where video game characters are sentient beings, capable of performing activities outside of the scope designated for them by a hard-working team of programmers and designers. In reality, it seems that Drake's likeness was straight-up yoinked by Big Fish, in a brazen display of copyright infringement that's reminiscent of Limbo of the Lost, only without the added bonus of being unintentionally hilarious. Citing "astonishing" first-day sales figures in the UK, the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association has trumpeted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's debut as a sign that "interactive entertainment has completely come of age." Said Michael Rawlinson, Director General of the ELSPA: "These first day sales figures are astonishing and clear evidence that video games are now mainstream in the UK."Smashing through the estimated 631,000 units sold by 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, Infinity Ward's slick shooter grossed £47 million (roughly $78.3 million) in first-day sales, which ELSPA and GFK-ChartTrack pair with 1.23 million units sold. Sold to adults, of course! "So, as an 18-rated video game, it is important that this game is not played by children, and parents should be appropriately vigilant," said Rawlinson. "We ask everyone to make sure they check the packaging of games to ensure they are suitable for their players, especially as we enter the festive season when video games are one of the most popular gifts of the holiday."We hope you don't take offense, people of the UK, but some of you have awfully high-pitched voices online.
