How To Ruin Your Moment of Internet Glory: Work for an unconscionable number of hours making a laser etcher improbably play a fine rendition of the World 1-1 music from Super Mario Bros. Let Cory Doctorow film it. Listen as he rewards your hard work with terrible internet cliches, and, in doing so, almost completely obscures the audio you crafted. Cry yourself to sleep. Video tutorial right after the break.

Lead Designer Daniel Kading from Relic Entertainment walks us through the new content featured in Chaos Rising's single player campaign.

Yes, today just so happens to be Shigeru Miyamoto’s birthday. The creator of Mario, Zelda and many others has turned 57 today. I’d say he’s looking pretty good for his age. Happy birthday, Miyamoto…here’s to 57 more! Thanks to all those that sent this in. P.S. - Bing.com mentions Miyamoto’s birthday on [...]

Andrew Eades, executive director of Buzz! developer Relentless Software, recently had a few nonplussed things to say to VideoGamer.com about Sony's virtual social hub, PlayStation Home. Specifically, he remarked "Home doesn't appeal to me personally that much," adding that he doesn't know why the platform appeals to people. However, though he might not be its biggest fan, he later added that the platform still has room to grow, and that only now is it "realising its potential." Eades suggested that Sony focus on "[building] the tools to allow people to create content for it," mentioning that his studio has plans for "a game we're considering doing which only could work in Home." We're picturing a multiplayer trivia title with heavy crossdressing elements, but the scope of our PlayStation Home experience is admittedly pretty narrow.

Kenichi Nishi has worked on a number of titles, including the Chibi-Robo franchise. It also appears that Mr. Nishi had a deep love for his dog Tao, because the dog was featured in a lot of his titles. For example, in Chibi-Robo for the Cube, Tao is actually involved in one of the [...]

Yes, that’s what we hear are the two names that the guys at Nintendo have been calling the blue and yellow toads from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Looks like these nicknames came out of some late-night development runs! It doesn’t matter to me, because now we have names for the guys! [...]

Much like he did for the just-launched New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be "really difficult." But will it be so difficult as to require Nintendo's new in-game life preserver, the Super Guide? Miyamoto isn't so sure yet. "In general," Miyamoto told Official Nintendo Magazine, "wherever and whenever appropriate, I think we will want to incorporate that kind of thing, but I cannot commit to anything specific right now." Here's our absolutely ridiculous prediction: Miyamoto and crew are going to do with this sequel what they did with Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Since Galaxy 2 is basically another level pack for an existing game, the team is going to make it almost impossible to complete. Note: This won't happen. More likely, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be on par with the first game in terms of challenge, but will include the Super Guide because to stay consistent with Nintendo's current strategy.

Look, Sam Fisher is a master of espionage, so it's entirely believable the man could sneak his way into the packaging of Assassin's Creed II this week. Heck, now that his daughter is gone, he's thrown the rulebook out the window and part of his new anything-goes persona could very well be to synergize like he's never done before. Thus, this rumor that all copies of Assassin's Creed II on Xbox 360 will come with a download voucher for a Splinter Cell: Conviction demo. One user over at NeoGAF claims a copy of Assassin's Creed II on Xbox 360 came with said insert, while further evidence from HipHopGamer (it's since been removed from the initial video; but Kouppa-Network Live still has it up) shows what appears to be the alleged insert. Logic points to the demo being the same portion of gameplay we checked out back at E3, though there's no evidence to verify that. We've contacted Ubisoft for comment and update this post when we hear back.[Thanks, tmacairjordan87]Source - NeoGAF postSource - HHG video with insert reveal removedSource - Pulled video showing insert

The DSi-only monster-training game, Monster Finder, just can't seem to nail that whole title thing. In Japan, it's half exciting ("Monster") and half not-so-exciting ("Finder.") As GameStop's listing for the North American release shows, the same problem is happening even in localization. "Showdown" sounds fairly action-packed, but "Foto Showdown" fails to convey the whole monster-combat thing. Foto Showdown is suddenly not the only game in town when it comes to monster generation on the DS. This game, with its camera-based monster system, is now in a showdown of its own -- with Tecmo's just-announced Monster Rancher DS. [Via Siliconera]

The console version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has allegedly been recalled in Russia due to the controversial "No Russian" scene. Hellforge's translation of a Russian report claims that a censored console version will be released later this month in the region, and that an official patch removing the scene from PC and Steam versions is en route. It would seem that the choice of killing innocent Russian civilians in the scene isn't one that the government would like to leave up to players. To make sure this report stays as "fair and balanced" as possible, we've contacted Activision and Infinity Ward for comment. Any Russia-based readers that can shed a little bit more light on the situation should feel free to contact us. [Via Edge]

This week, we get our first taste of Nintendo's new WiiWare demos. Surprisingly, it didn't take Nintendo that long to flip the switch for North America, considering the company revealed the long-overdue feature -- and day-one annoyance -- only earlier this month. And on top of the free trial versions of select WiiWare titles (five total this week!), there are also two new Virtual Console titles to enjoy, as well as three new DSiWare games. Hit the break for the full list.
