"Yes, there was an issue with the original download," a Sony Europe spokesperson has told Eurogamer. Said issue, which rendered PAL digital copies of Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines dead on arrival, was rectified by replacing the PSP file on the European PlayStation store -- though this came at a cost to those who had already been greeted by the defective copy's never-ending loading screen. According to the spokesperson, "It was pulled from the store and we are issuing replacement codes for those people who purchased the content before 12PM GMT on November 20." Developed by Griptonite Games, Bloodlines follows the protagonist of 2007's Assassin's Creed, complete with 3D free-running and an Altair-native control scheme.

Just in time for your Turkey Day weekend, Killzone 2 will be activating double XP on all multiplayer games from November 27th to November 30th. In addition to double XP, Guerrilla will host a Killzone 2 "retro tournament" using only the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps from the second DLC pack, both remakes of Killzone 1 maps. If you don't have the DLC yet and don't want to drop "money" on it you'll want to check out Killzone.com -- free codes will be given away later this week.

It seems the PlayStation Store got a little jealous of the brick-and-mortar retailers who were offering discounts during this week of Black Friday Thanksgiving. Beginning with today's specially-dated Tuesday PSN update, a handful of downloadable PS3 titles will be offered for half-price until December 2. Here's a list of the encheapened games, and their temporarily slimmed-down prices: Bomberman Ultra - $4.99 Comet Crash - $4.99 Flower - $4.99 Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao - $7.49 The Last Guy - $4.99 Prince of Persia Classic - $4.99 Smash Cars - $7.49

Amazon's awesome Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers offer has gotten even better. The online retailer is still taking pre-sales at $44.99, with an exclusive calendar, but it has now added a $10 credit on future game purchases to the package. So the game is effectively $34.99. With The Crystal Bearers coming out after Christmas, it seems poised to take advantage of gift money and/or returns of items gamers don't want. However, this pre-Christmas deal may require some budget-conscious gamers to spend against their presumed future cash gifts. Or, for those of you with enough disposable income, you can just buy it. I wonder who would win in this fight. I think I’d have to go with Boba Fett, as I think he’s had more experience. I’m sure it would be fun to watch, though! Article here (thanks Pete!)
