Filed under: X3F TV If you've played any of the recent Call of Duty games -- and chances are good that you have -- then you'll be right at home with Call of Duty Classic, the latest release on Xbox Live Arcade. Of course, there's also a good chance that you're still knee-deep in Modern Warfare 2. So, the question you have to ask is how much do you want to take in some gaming history? Did you know that less than one percent of all DS games rated by the ESRB have received a ‘Mature’ rating? Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is now a part of that very elite group. The ESRB website hasn’t opened up the rating page for us to get more details on the ‘Mature’ [...]

Q-Games' latest entry in its PSN PixelJunk series will arrive on PlayStation Network worldwide next Thursday, December 10. Shooter follows the legacy of previous PixelJunk games, by adding a modern twist to old-school gameplay. In Shooter's case, the twist happens to be realistic liquid physics, as players manipulate the flow of water, lava and ice. Like Monsters and Eden before it, PixelJunk Shooter is expected to cost $10 or the foreign currency equivalent. Source - 'Tis the PixelJunk Season... We'd understand if you've forgotten about Glory of Heracles: Nintendo hasn't mentioned the Paon-developed RPG since surreptitiously adding it to its E3 release list. Nintendo just announced that the DS game will arrive in North America on January 18.This will be the first game in the series to be released outside of Japan, and the first to be made without Data East (from which the staff of developer Paon originates). It's an RPG set in a (more) fictionalized version of the Greek mythological tradition, with a plot written by Final Fantasy's Kazushige Nojima. Now if Nintendo would fill us in on some more of its E3 question marks, like Line Attack Heroes and the amazing WarioWare DIY, that would be, well, glorious.

Click to enlarge Shrugging off years of mediocrity and partially descriptive subtitles, EA's newly announced Medal of Honor reboot will thrust players into modern milieu: Afghanistan. Set for release in 2010 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the new first-person shooter follows the Tier 1 Operator, described as "a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle," and not described as an oddly militant member of ZZ Top. EA claims that real Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community have been involved since "the earliest stages of development." The publisher seems intent on throwing the gauntlet down in the modern war arena (do they still use gauntlets?), promising a "best-in-class single-player campaign" from the minds at EA Los Angeles, as well as a multiplayer component developed by the Battlefield veterans at DICE. You can bear witness to the game's full unveiling during Spike TV's 2009 Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12 at 8:00PM PT. You can witness beard in the gallery below.

[GAME Watch] The trailer for the WiiWare version of Phalanx (after the break) reveals that it looks very much like a 16-bit game, rather than a remake of a 16-bit game. In fact, it looks identical to the Sharp X68000 version upon which it is based (and which is included in its unaltered form in the 500-point download). Essentially, developer Zoom is using WiiWare to release a Virtual Console game whose platform isn't supported on the Virtual Console -- with some new bonus content, like a new mode with new stages and manual weapon selection. We approve of this tactic. Phalanx will be released on December 22 in Japan.
