The Magnificent… Six?
Trauma Team takes the Trauma Center series in a new direction by shifting the focus from one incredible surgeon to a group of 6 different doctors, each specializing in a different field and having his or her own story. Of course, they [...]
Today's 39 layoffs at Rock Band-developer Harmonix represented 13 percent of its staff, Joystiq has learned in a follow-up with MTV Games. The publisher expressed that Harmonix, its QA department and support positions were built to accommodate the 2009 worldwide release schedule. The developer will now shift to a "combination of temporary/part time help, outsourcing and support from external partners -- which is in line with how other game developers manage their QA departments."
When asked if this restructuring was precipitated by sales of The Beatles: Rock Band, an Harmonix/MTV Games
spokesperson told Joystiq, "No. This was a process and business decision unrelated to the performance of any MTV Games / Harmonix product. MTV Games and Harmonix are very pleased with the sales of our Rock Band titles and we expect to continue to see strong sales throughout the holidays across all of our titles. The Beatles: Rock Band has sold over 1 million units worldwide to date. Again, the reason for the restructuring is due to better aligning our staffing to best suit our product development plans and schedules moving forward."
MTV Games also wanted to make sure that it was clear that "no future projects were affected by the restructuring."
Our good friend Prem sent these our way, and as far as I know, this guy has a pretty good relationship with the High Voltage guys. I’m not saying that proves the images above are the real deal, but his past interactions with High Voltage and The Conduit in general make this new stuff [...]
Wow, that might be the best gaming-themed Christmas tree that I’ve ever seen! You have to love Iron Mike up at the top. Check out more pics of the tree here (thanks Gusto!)
Rapper ‘Game’ is planning on getting this tattoo, which he’s calling the ‘Evolution of Gaming’. That’s one hell of a realistic looking Zapper, if you ask me.

The latest item of DLC coming to Borderlands adds new, combat-focused content to the game ... while simultaneously removing any artifice with which Gearbox was obscuring the universe's cinematic inspiration. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot (get it?) adds three new Riot Mode arenas for single-player or co-op, along with a new bank feature for storing weapons.
That's right, a bank. For weapons. That pretty much guarantees you'll pony up the 800 Microsoft Points when this comes out December 29 on Xbox, or the 10 bucks for the PS3 version on January 7. No date or price has been announced for PC. Full press release after the break.
- “The Wanderer’s Journal” logs stats and achievements, and also features written entries from in-game companions
- Fool’s Trap - You will only gain 1 EXP on the current floor
- Transmogrifier - All the items on the floor will become monsters
There is even more info up at the official North American site for Shiren the Wanderer. [...]
Have you been hoping, nay, dreaming of snagging one of the Tekken 6 arcade stick bundles but have been hesitant to plunk down the $150 asking price? This post is for you then, as Amazon has positively slashed the price of the bundle on both PS3 and 360 version, knocking them down to a paltry $78. Seventy-eight bones! That's only $18 bucks more than your average game and it includes the Tekken 6 Hori arcade stick to boot.
If you, or the digital pugilist in your life, haven't picked this up yet, it probably won't get much cheaper than this.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that the DS has officially exceeded 10 million units sold in the UK. The revelation comes courtesy of data from European number crunchers GfK Chart-Track and, according to Nintendo, the handheld is currently owned by one out of every six UK residents. Of course, there's no telling how many people have purchased more than one of the console's many, many iterations. Still, the DS has managed to reach the 10 million mark faster than the PS2 did, just shy of five years since the handheld launched in March 2005.
We've been holding this back for a while now, but it's probably time to just come out and say it: It looks like the DS is a success.
