It's not surprising that Just Cause 2, a game in which pretty much everything explodes, goes all out with its pre-order bonuses. More than just a simple gun or article of clothing, those who pre-order the game will nab two guns, a souped-up car, a special hovercraft and a unique parachute. It'll be available on launch day (March 23), so we wouldn't be surprised if those non-pre-orders will be able to pay a little extra for the same perks. Just remember: You earned your Chaos Parachute, and no one can ever take that away from you.

Nintendo is bringing a single title to Jump Festa, and it’s a game that has already released in Japan. New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be on-hand for show goers, with 4-player demos and coin battles taking place. There will even be some limited edition swag to grab, so I guess the presentation [...]

Screen from XBLA version Well here’s some awesome news. The other day, Golgoth Studio confirmed that they can now develop for Wii and DS. I didn’t expect to hear about their first project already! Did you download last night's optional 3.15 firmware update on PS3 only to find that none of your PSP Minis were working on the PS3? You're not alone! The team at PSN Stores has compiled a list of all the Minis that work on Sony's home console -- a whopping five: Blast Off, Echoes, Kahoots, Stand O' Food and Zombie Tycoon. But what about the remaining Minis? Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a week before the whole lineup is expected to work on the PS3. That means, at least for one week, your copy of Sudoku will remain exclusively on your PSP. Why Sony decided to release the firmware update so long before the feature, ahem, works is beyond us.

The US games industry's performance numbers are out for November and, as expected, software sales were lead dominated by Activision / Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game sold 4.2 million copies during the month on Microsoft's console, while the version for Sony's machine sold 1.9 million. Coming in an extremely strong second was New Super Mario Bros. Wii at 1.4 million copies, proving that 1) people still love the plumber and 2) if a Wii game is published by Nintendo, it sells like crazy (well, unless it also has "Wii Music" in its title). Nintendo lead in hardware sales, with the number of DS units sold skyrocketing by 262% to 1.7 million units -- that's better than the same month last year. Wii sold over two million last November; this year it hit 1.26 million for the month, indicative of the year-long decline in sales the console's been experiencing. Its competitors, Xbox 360 and PS3, sold 820 thousand and 710 thousand units, respectively. -DS: 1.7M1.2M (+262%) -Wii: 1.26M753K (+149%) -360: 820K570K (+228%) -PS3: 710K389K (+121%) -PSP: 294K119K (+76%) -PS2: 203K85K (72%) Check out the software sales chart after the break.

So: how is the War update different from our other class updates?

In many ways, it's not. Like any other class update, the War update will reveal three new weapons each for the Demoman and Soldier throughout the week, as well as some maps, achievements, and surprises, right up until the day of release, when everything we've been teasing goes live.

When the holidays roll around, the gamers who buy everything they want throughout the year might find themselves stymied asked for a wish list. Today, we put the Nyko Charge Base IC through its paces, and it looks like a great way to pad your list to Santa. The Wiimote charger uses induction, which not only alleviates the need to plug everything in, but -- as you'll see in the above video -- also looks really slick. Also, to help justify this video's existence, we teach you how to make butter cookies.
