The year in video games is pretty much all wrapped up. There really aren’t any other releases coming out before the year closes that are worth sinking your teeth into, which means it’s about time to take a look back on everything these consoles/portables had to offer for 2009. Just how did the [...]

The floodgates for Trauma Team publicity are open, starting with the screenshots and now continuing with promotional videos. Atlus takes us behind the scenes of Trauma Team -- wisely choosing to feature the game's voice recording over, say, the medical research the team did. In the first of two videos (above), Atlus offers a tour of PCB Productions, the company producing the voice work for the multidisciplinary medical adventure. In the second (after the break), we meet a few of the actors portraying the quirky medical team, allowing us to put different faces to the voices behind the cartoon characters. Trauma Team is currently scheduled for an April 20 release date.

Electronic Arts will give back 800 to those who buy items from a select list of downloadable merchandise between December 25 and January 31. The offer covers items like DLC from Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins and downloadable titles like Battlefield 1943 and Hasbro Family Game Night. It also covers many of EA's Games on Demand offerings, including Burnout Paradise and Dead Space. The details on how the redemption works are ... well, we can't really seem to find them. We've sent out some emails asking EA if it could clarify how the deal will work, exactly. If you're looking to take advantage of the offer in the meantime, just make sure your Xbox Live email address and contact details are all current.

No idea what either of these trademarks are for, other than the obvious Pac-Man connection with one game. Could the other be related to a new entry in the Mr. Driller series? Namco Bandai isn’t talking, which probably means that we’ll have to wait until the new year to find out more details [...]

I meant similar to Bubbleman in being thought of as the useless robot master with the stupid power of the group.

At the time, Super Mario Land blew my mind. I couldn’t believe I had a portable Mario adventure! What an achievement this was back in the day. Hell, we all know the game is a bit weird by Mario standards, but that didn’t make it any less fun.

Epic has prepared a special Gears of War 2 event (dubbed the "12 Days of Christmas") for the holidays, granting an (odd) in-game bonus for each day. The event kicks off tomorrow, December 23, with everyone receiving a Noobsaw. The "noob" moniker seems aimed more at its wielders than its victims, since it can't be interrupted and lowered by gunfire. The following day will allow insta-kill melee attacks, and the one after that will reward an extra grenade for every pickup. Golden weapons will also be unlocked for all during the course of the event, while multiplayer matches will net you triple the experience points. You can check out the full list of modifiers over at the Gears site. Happy Noobsawing! [Thanks, John!]

There are no words. This trailer for Mass Effect 2 -- which just happens to be the expanded edition of the trailer teased during IGN's pre-VGA show -- is just completely radical. This particular video is more story-driven than the previous pieces of marketing for the game, giving a bit of backstory into the team Shepard has assembled, then showing that team going to war against a gigantic, sinister spacecraft. We like to think of ourselves as fans of the holiday season, but we'd be more than happy to skip the next couple of weeks, just so we could be that much closer to Mass Effect 2's January 26 release date.
