I’m not too sure Starcraft would make for a good movie. I mean, if you’re talking a literal translation from game to movie, it would actually be quite unbearable to watch. If you adapted it more to movie-style, I bet plenty of people would complain that it didn’t stay true enough to the [...]

Pitfall has appeared on a number of Nintendo consoles in the past, and now you can see a wonderful remake of the boxart from Doctor Popular. It’s a little more telling of the actual game!

The official Japanese site for New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been updated yet again. This time around, it looks like Nintendo might be scraping the bottom of the barrel. They’ve opened up a section that teachers newcomers about the basic moves and elements of a Mario game, with New Super Mario Bros. [...]

Hmmm…certainly sounds like a racing game subtitle to me. Make sure you take note of the lack of spacing between the words ‘Dead’ and ‘Heat’. There are already trademarks for Dead Head, so it looks like Namco Bandai was doing all they could to still get the name, but avoid any issues!

Square Enix has unloaded the new media onto the game's official site, though in our usual style we've plucked out all of the good stuff and situated 'em into our gallery below. Consider it our gift to you this holiday season. Sharing is caring, y'know.

Can't wait to get home to the family for the holiday this weekend ... and then completely ignore them with a Left 4 Dead 2 marathon on Xbox Live? You're not the only one. Microsoft is bracing itself for a flood of online gameplay this weekend, including players trying catch up on all of the games they were too busy (baking cookies and wrapping presents) to play since November, as well as all the new folks who just unwrapped new games from under the tree. It's become a holiday tradition -- last year, the outage lasted for 11 days, from the weekend before Christmas to the end of the year, and spawned not only a free game, but a class action lawsuit to boot. Last year, the problem was compounded by most of the tech staff being offline with their families, but this year, we're sure Microsoft has both servers and staff on notice to solve problems the second a clatter happens to arise. And if not, maybe we'll get another free game. Hopefully one better than Undertow.

“Buffalo Boy” by Polygraph Take the original Game Boy design, add in some more buttons and European coloring, and throw in some horns just for the hell of it. That gives you the Buffalo Boy…a creation that can only exist within the mind of an artist.

Microsoft has posted Japan's top ten Xbox Live Arcade games of 2009. It's unclear whether it's a list organized by sales or critical response, but the top title is Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram -- you know, the classic robot fighter from ... no? Just play along then. The rest of the list, scrawled down by Siliconera, features many titles that found a lot more success in the west. Battlefield 1943, Castle Crashers, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Trials HD (another surprise) take spots two through five, respectively. Check out our XBLA in Brief on Virtual-On after the break if you'd like to know what all the Japanese fuss is about.

Just missing the opportunity to become the ideal -- and stuffed -- stocking stuffer, the first official line of LittleBigPlanet plushies is now available on Amazon.com. This two-pack bundle from Senario includes one naked Sackboy and one white Sackgirl for $20. Unfortunately, the online retailer won't have these dolls in stock until the December 30th, so you'll have to take Amazon's prohibitively pricey "One Week Ago" time-travel shipping option. If they were smart, they would sell little add-on items you can decorate Sackboy with. Then Sackboy could be the new Mr. Potato Head

A few big-name game retailers have listed FIFA World Cup Edition for an April 27th, 2010 release. EA is yet to comment on the date, so don’t take it as a 100% confirmation just yet. With that said, the date does indeed look like the real deal.

Let's face it, childhood was disappointing. Every year, you begged your parents to take you to Disney World, forever dreaming that you might own your very own pair of Mickey Mouse ears, the accessory that screams, "Yeah, I've been there." And every year, your parents would say, "We're going to Disney World!" Filled with glee, you would pile into the car with the rest of the family, only to arrive at the local Pottery Barn. Okay, so it might not be everyone's childhood, but it's close enough. The point is that there is now a digital ton of Disney themed Avatar goodies on Xbox Live Marketplace. There's actually some fun stuff up there, including the enchanted broom from Fantasia, a Tigger doll and plenty of clothing options. And yes, there are Mickey Mouse ears. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, some of the Disney items, including the ears, are experiencing some technical difficulties. Fret not, however, as Major Nelson assures us that Microsoft is on the case, so we're sure our your childhood dream will soon be within reach.

Critter Crunch developer Capy has created an incredibly engrossing game that melds the best aspects of both strategy RPGs and puzzle games.
