Do you guys remember when Treasure World came out? That was back during the Summer, and it looks like almost no one paid attention to the release of the game. It didn’t help that it was hard to find at retailers either. Outside of word-of-mouth and some internet campaigns, I don’t think [...]

How can anyone forget Big Bang Mini, the only boxart all year to get an animated preview of its lenticular cover. I’m pretty sure this is the only animated boxart we’ll ever see…unless someone else decides to take the lenticular route!

We've always assumed that we don't notice the cold while we're playing video games because we're being warmed from within by the light of joy. But Jeff Ramos has dispelled our childish illusions on his blog, cheerfully describing how his Xbox 360 makes a fine space heater that helps to warm up one room of his chilly New York City apartment. Not the most serious reading, but it certainly warms the heart, doesn't it? We've always thought that the amount of heat put out by the 360 was a bad thing (especially when it melts its own brains from within), but don't be surprised if crafty console makers spend as much time in the next generation talking about BTUs as GPUs.

Okay, okay, everyone, settle down. Listen, we know there's been a lot of unrest in this, our first ever "How to Get Into the Top 20 Globally in World 1 Stage 1 for PixelJunk Shooter" class. You've been here for three weeks now without ever actually talking Shooter strategies and your whispers are starting to become deafening. "Why does Mr. McElroy take such long naps?" we hear you ask, or, "Why did I have to play $3,000 for this?" On this, our graduation day, we have two messages for you. 1. Watch the video after the break and do exactly that. And 2. The magic was inside you the whole time. Now, if a few of you would just stand on your desks and say, "Oh captain, my captain," we'll be on our way. ... Nobody? Fine. [Via Twitter]

Despite the similar game setting, the theme song to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is not just the theme to MGS3 with the words "Snake Eater" replaced with "Peace Walker." Maybe then if we listen to the newly-announced soundtrack enough, we'll stop hearing "I'm still in a dream, peace walkerrrrrrrr" in our heads every time we see a reference to the upcoming PSP spinoff game. The Peace Walker soundtrack disc will be released on Konami Japan's Konamistyle site on March 17, one day before the game releases, for ¥2,940 (roughly $30). For ¥4,515, you can buy the soundtrack and receive the "Heaven's Divide" single, the actual vocal theme, on a separate disc. While "Heaven's Divide" is featured on the soundtrack disc, the single includes "Koi no Yokushiryoku," Paz Ortega Andrade's theme, as well. Plus it's another thing with the Metal Gear Solid logo on it, which is bound to excite a certain segment of the audience. [Via Nobuooo, GameSetWatch]

Hmmm…another pair of trademarks from Namco Bandai, and we have no idea what they’re for. These names sound more like subtitles than actual game names themselves. Place your bets now, as the details behind these names will surely be revealed sooner than later.

Prinny 2: Dawn of the Great Pantsu War will reportedly launch for the PSP on March 25, 2010 in Japan, according to Dengeki Online (via Siliconera). Sure, Nippon Ichi Software might not exactly want us to know that it's making a sequel to this year's Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, but that doesn't stop the company from releasing a mess of screenshots and a release date to gamers across the Pacific, along with with the game's full title. As if the first game's premise of securing cakes for Etna wasn't ridiculous enough, the second game tasks you with recovering underpants for her (thus the title). To combat the various adorable enemies along the way (just look at that penguin!), the developer has added new moves as well as a "baby mode" for novices. We've added a handful of screenshots to our gallery below, but you can peep a metric ton more right here.

Ahahaha, Dawn of the Great Panty War

Baby mode sounds like its right up my alley.

Etna seems to get even more fetish fuel-y every game.

Maybe that one wasn’t amazing enough for you. How about this commercial for the Satelliteview…with Mario in space…and speaking with a non-Martinet voice!?

Call of Duty-branded sleep underpants I was going to make fun of this branding, but that’s hard to do when I’m currently wearing my ‘know your shrooms’ pants.

The freeware Space Invaders clone based on an episode of Futurama has finally been released. For those that aren’t familiar with the episode, you play the part of Fry taking down the evil Nintendian ships that hail from the planet Nintendoo 64. Yes, that’s the way the writers behind Futurama paid tribute to [...]

We know that Rat Race probably put you off comedic video game projects based in working environments -- however, the recently released Xbox Live Indie Game, Office Politics, looks a little more sophisticated than Super-Ego Studios' impossibly unfunny work simulator. Well, the graphics aren't more sophisticated, we guess; but they've got this Dire Straights' "Money For Nothing" thing that's really working for us. Check out the trailer above to see the blockheaded drama unfold. The game itself is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace for 80 ($1).

I have a feeling 2010 is going to be a good year for games on every platform, but Nintendo has some sweet treats coming in the next 365 days. Galaxy 2, Cave Story, No More Heroes 2, just to name three, but check out Destructoid’s list to see if you’re forgetting some.

From Software's 3D Dot Game Heroes may be inspired by the 8-bit Zelda, but it's truly a modern game -- it has both patches and paid DLC. An update and DLC pack were set to be released in Japan on Christmas Day, but were delayed until sometime in January. The free update adds a viewer for the loading screen images, hard drive install feature and the infrastructure to download the DLC. As for the paid content, one pack adds stages for the "Block Defense" minigame (basically tower defense), and the other adds downloadable character models, many of which can be downloaded for free from the website. In the case of 3D Dot Game Heroes, the idea of extra content is a lot more exciting than the content itself. [Via Siliconera]

We'll have to file this one under the "Games That We Wish Existed" category, as the screen you see above is little more than a pixelart mash-up of Luigi's Mansion and the Castlevania series. Masterfully created by Shane Gill for his PixelJoint page (and spotted by the folks at Tiny Cartridge), the piece is the living embodiment of what we wish the DSiWare service played host to more often. Alas, we don't believe we'll be seeing "Mansionvania: Vacuum of Sorrow" landing on Nintendo's digital distribution service anytime soon -- but we can at least point to it next time someone asks what we'd like to see available for download. "That! Go make that! That 2D pixel game with the vacuum-wielding Luigi! And enough with the calendars already!" [Via Tiny Cartridge]

Just a few months ago, a Microsoft job listing hinted at the possibility of integrating Xbox Live with Windows Mobile. Now, according to a new job listing, that possibility is fast becoming a reality. Specifically, the listing is calling for a Principal Program Manager in "LIVE Engagement." This same listing mentions that Microsoft is "connecting players via the LIVE services on new devices beyond the console" and, more explicitly, asks for someone to "drive the platform and bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile." The Principal Program Manager is expected to focus on "what makes gaming experiences 'LIVE Enabled' through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences." Granted, there's no way to tell how soon it will arrive, but it looks like Xbox Live and WinMo devices are destined to be together, eventually. [Via Engadget]

It's pretty adorable listening to our electronics-obsessed sister site Engadget talk about video games, a sensation not unlike listening to a music professor trying to connect with students over the latest Jay-Z album. ("Say kids, isn't this track vibin'?!") But we think they nailed it with their inclusion of the Xbox 360 in their "Ten gadgets that defined the decade" list. The piece reminds that the system's success seemed all but impossible at its launch, with a weaker feature set than the PS3 and a for-pay online service. Honoroable mentions were given to the PS2 and the Wii, both will presumably fare better on Engadget's "Ten gadgets that didn't melt if you looked at them wrong" list.

I don’t know…the video game might not look like a lot of fun, but I’d watch a hell of a lot more basketball if the real sport was like this! I can’t imagine those uniforms being easy to move around in, though.
