Ever wonder what Hideki Kamiya looked like back in the day? Seems like time wasn’t too nice to Mr. Kamiya’s follicles. I’m starting to think that anyone involved with the game industry quickly loses their hair. I know it’s happening to me!

I can’t believe their are rumors of a Sonic Spinball revamp going around. What an odd title to possibly get some updates, or even a new version. I owned the original, and while I didn’t love it, it was still a bit of fun. I might be convinced to pick up a [...]

Nintendo has three long-tail titles out there on shelves, and they’re all going to continue raking in the cash for years to come. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is quite the seller, and it’s sure to stay on charts for quite some time. Which game will be the first one to cut off [...]

Yes, that little white squiggle is going to be a playable character in Super Meat Boy. That ‘thing’ happens to be the ‘character’ in the indie game Flywrench, which is actually a blast to play. If you haven’t been familiarized with Flywrench just yet, you can play the game right here. Makes [...]

The game being talked about here may not match up with something on the Wii, but I thought the movie to game comparison was enough in and of itself to warrant a post. The data presented is extremely interesting! The difference in advertising is pretty staggering. I guess the James Cameron name is enough [...]

It can be pretty upsetting to think about all the games that Nintendo never bothers to publish in the states. I can understand why some games never make the trip outside of Japan, but then there are other titles that you would think to be a shoe-in for localization. Sometimes, it’s almost like [...]

If you've been sitting on your duff, waiting for a chance to pick up a digital copy of Plants vs. Zombies or Peggle, you might just want to take the plunge at some point today. No, none of the developer's titles are temporarily discounted -- rather, for one day only, all monies spent on any of the games in PopCap's store will go directly to Partners in Health; an organization that's currently working to help Haiti recover from the catastrophic earthquake it suffered earlier this week. It's a pretty generous promotion from the casual gaming juggernaut -- but it's only running until midnight. Get to shopping, Joystiq Biomass!

Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert doesn't like you, cheap gamer. When quizzed by Develop, the PixelJunk creator described one thing that disappointed him most about the industry: gamers that refuse to open up their wallets. "Gamers complaining about our games being too expensive at 10 dollars. I'm not sure this is an industry problem, but it seems ridiculous that people complain about that price point." Cuthbert seems particularly sensitive about this issue, noting the rampant piracy of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on PSP earlier this year. The naysayers seem few and far apart, though. PixelJunk Shooter went on to become the second best-selling game on PSN in December. Some members of the Joystiq community have even suggested the game is worth "more than $10." Obviously, the studio is doing well enough with its PSN endeavors, as Cuthbert confirms that "more PixelJunk is definitely in the pipeline." With PixelJunk Dungeons and presumably PixelJunk Shooter Encore in the works, the indie studio clearly has a lot to work on at the moment.

505 Games has released another trailer for A2M's upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 project, Naughty Bear. Like the first screens released, the trailer pretty much conforms to what you would imagine. In the grand tradition of taking eternally cute cliches and making them violent -- think Happy Tree Friends, Conker's Bad Fur Day -- the trailer features Naughty Bear gunning down another bear as it flees in terror. The cute violence concept isn't exactly new in games -- Fairytale Fights says hi -- but we have to admit it's pretty funny to see stuffing spray out of a teddy bear as the result of a shotgun wound. Check it out in the trailer above. If you think you can bear it, of course.

Are you itching to get your hands on Rebellion's upcoming shooter Aliens vs. Predator? Have you been dreaming of mouths within mouths, mouths that open sideways and regular human mouths screaming in terror? If so, you might want to see a therapist. You might also consider picking up Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000, the PC AvP title created by Rebellion aeons ago. The game is now available on Steam for the rock-bottom price of $4.99. It includes both the Gold edition and the Millennium expansion pack, and it supports the Xbox 360 controller for PC, so even the young'uns can appreciate it. The one thing it does not currently support is multiplayer, though Big Download notes that support will be added in a future patch.

We think this is interesting for two reasons: This is actually the first post we've ever written about some guy selling his Steam account We can't believe someone would actually want to get rid of their Steam account So, yeah, eBay user dave311freak is trying to unload his massive Steam collection (139 titles strong) onto whoever's willing to fork over the most cash for it. As it stands, nobody's actually dropped a bid on the auction, so we're not sure he'll be successful in this venture. Head past the break for a video rundown of some highlights from dude's collection. [Thanks, Terry]

Russian publisher 1C Games is the latest in a long line to declare that the PC games market is dying, and its international publishing director Darryl Still tells MCV that retailers are holding the murder weapon. Still says that the drive to digital distribution these days isn't just due to gamer preference, it's due to the fact that retailers aren't supporting PC games the way they should. "You just have to head into a games store and look for their PC titles," he says, "and you'll see there is no focus, listings or promotions for them." Still says that he predicts the PC market will be completely digital as soon as 2011, two years ahead of estimates that say 50% of PC games sold in 2013 will be digitally delivered. He says that there's more profit to be made with PC games at retail, but that with all of the different providers aiming to release PC titles digitally, retailers very soon won't bother carrying them at all. We're torn -- for every treasured cloth map in a retail box, there are good reasons to stick with digital as well.

Well folks, we've been here twice before -- it's that very special time of year when the Writers Guild of America announces nominations in the category of "Videogame Writing." As has been the standard for the past two years, the list of games is a dubious mix. We'd certainly point to Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2 (our 2009 Game of the Year, lest you forget) and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2 as worthy of the title, but ... well, nearly everything else on the list strikes us as either unworthy or straight up misplaced. It reads as follows: Assassin's Creed 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Wet X-Men Origins: Wolverine We're just as flummoxed as you are that titles like Wolverine and Modern Warfare 2 showed up -- especially while a litany of other great writing falls by the wayside (we're looking at you, Dragon Age and Professor Layton 2) -- but that might have something to do with the WGA membership requirement for consideration in the nominations. Regardless, we'll find out who's going to take the golden manuscript home when the show takes place simultaneously in both Los Angeles and New York City on February 20. [Via GamesIndustry.biz]

This new footage and screens from upcoming Quantum Theory really look like something else: Gears of War 3. We feel bad for Epic's Cliff Bleszinski, who must feel a bit miffed himself at the new Tecmo title. It's taken some wind out of his sails, showing us pretty much everything we expect to see in the third installment of the Gears of War franchise, save for the chainsaw guns. You can check out the gameplay trailer above and find the new screens in our gallery below.

Atlus has released some new screenshots for Metal Slugg XX, the upcoming PSP port of Metal Slug 7. Glancing at the screens for a moment and ... yup, it's Metal Slug all right. There are dudes, tanks, giant death machines and, of course, plenty of bullets to go around. There is a handful of character art as well, with Atlus promising that each character will have special attributes. For example, Fio Germi (pictured) starts with a machine gun immediately, while Marco Rossi has 2X handgun power. You can learn about each character at Atlus' official Metal Slug XX website. Check out the new screens and artwork in the gallery below.
