If Halo Waypoint, Halo Legends, Halo: Reach and ... uhh ... Halo: The Aquarium weren't enough for your Halofied brain to soak in during the early parts of 2010, Sumthing Else Music today announced plans to release the Halo Legends original soundtrack at brick-and-mortar outlets and online starting on February 9. The disc comes packed with original music from composers Tetsuya Takahashi and Yasuharu Takanashi that was, as you might imagine, featured in the various Halo Legends episodes that premiered over the last few weeks on Xbox Live. We imagine that the hardcore Halo fans among you are already lining up for the impending February release, $16 at the ready -- may we suggest the kickin' jams from Halo 3: ODST to aid in your wait? Would that be too weird?

Arkedo Studio, the French developer responsible for the DS's Big Bang Mini and Nervous Brickdown, as well as recent Xbox Live Indie Games like the stylish 03 Pixel, has been thinking about Project Natal. And sadly for us, it decided to think again before going through with its proposed game idea, 2-Finger Heroes. CEO Camille Guermonprez posted mocked-up screenshots and design plans for the game on NeoGAF, revealing a brawler controlled by players' fingers acting as the protagonists' legs. Occasionally, the game would switch over to segments controlled by hand motions or crossed arms, and award powerups for hand gestures at certain segments (with a penalty for flipping the screen off!) Why isn't Arkedo working on this game right now? Issues with recognition of minute finger movements -- and localization concerns. "Yup, what can be understood as the victory sign in France, could be a terrible insult in the UK, for instance," Guermonprez said. "And we are not even talking about Italian. Oh, the possibilities..."

You can become a Big Daddy in PlayStation Home ... if you pre-order BioShock 2 on amazon.com. The online retailer is offering the game, $10 credit and exclusive access to this Home costume for $55. It's the perfect costume to wear if you feel like picking up chemically engineered underage girls in Sony's online community. If that doesn't entice you, there's always GameStop's pre-order incentive of extra multiplayer characters. [Via @amazongames]

Filed under: X3F TV This week on XBLA in Brief, we take a brief look (geddit?) at Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment and Death By Cube. The two games are about as different as can be, with Vandal Hearts being a strategy RPG -- a rarity on XBLA -- and Death By Cube offering a frantic twin-stick shooter. Both games seem good at what they do, though Death By Cube may just have a little magic in its simple, hectic formula. Check out the latest XBLA in Brief episode above and see if either Vandal Hearts (1200 / $15) or Death By Cube (800 / $10) strike your fancy. Say what you will about Fat Princess developer Titan Studios -- but don't say the team behind the slightly chunky Capture the Flag title is unappreciative. In a recent PlayStation.Blog post, the developer thanked its fans for their continued support, and announced that the game will receive a patch tomorrow. The update includes a few alterations to how online rankings are calculated -- but the meat cream filling of the patch is a brand new, totally free map, titled "Brownie Town." No further details on the new playground were given, but we're guessing it'll be a symmetrical metropolitan area covered in sweet, chocolatey pastries. Let us know how it is once the game is updated tomorrow!

Do you love Halo enough to purchase new multiplayer maps, but not enough to buy new Halo games? If that's the case, you'll be pleased to learn that the Mythic 2 Map Pack, which was previously available with 2009's Halo 3: ODST, will be sold separately as Halo 3 (sans overly descriptive subtitle treatment) content on the Xbox Live Marketplace starting February 2. For 800 MS Points ($10) you'll gain access to three distinct kill zones, namely Heretic, Citadel and Longshore. And if winning on any of them seems like a long shot, why not practice online today and Thursday in benefit of Haiti relief efforts?
