Once again, the weekly PSN update isn't exactly chock-full of new releases -- however, you'll want to hop onto the PSN storefront once this baby goes live. Sony's offering free entry to the ModNation Racers beta to the first 100,000 people who download the title, at which point it will be forever removed! Keep an eye out for the store to get updated later this afternoon. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

New Old Mario is stomping all over the mark left by his globetrotting counterpart, with sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii having already surpassed Super Mario Galaxy in the US. According to the NPD, Galaxy has sold approximately 4.1 million units in the two years since its November 2007 release, while NSMBW has amassed 4.2 million sales in about 45 days. As IGN notes, the Wii's install base is much higher now (26 million in the US), but that still doesn't explain why Galaxy, which has had far more time on retail shelves, was passed by so quickly. We'd posit that there's something nostalgic about NSMBW, which makes it stand apart from Galaxy and speak to the Wii's demographic. Of course, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will have the benefit of being quite familiar too ...

DJ Max Fever is being re-released on PSP today via the PlayStation Network. The Korean music game has been a hit amongst hardcore rhythm enthusiasts, but it's been a rather difficult game to find outside of import shops and specialty retailers. The game's re-release on the PlayStation Store should introduce it to a whole new audience. With gameplay similar to Beatmania, DJ Max Fever should help fill the void left by the termination of Rock Band Unplugged DLC. Good news for PSP Go owners: Fever will include 60 songs from the get-go, with no need to buy the game piecemeal. We'll be giving away ten copies of the game on our Facebook page later today, when the PlayStation Store update goes live. Make sure you become a fan so you can get a chance to win. Official rules apply.

Not to be outclassed by larger companies in the gaming industry, indie dev studio The Behemoth has announced its own initiative for helping out with recovery efforts in Haiti. Any revenue brought in by DLC purchases for Castle Crashers or Alien Hominid on XBLA will go directly to the Red Cross. The promotion is titled "The Behemoth Super Haiti Chicken Super Charity," because, hey, what else would you call it? The folks at Behemoth also plan to match this sum of money with some of their own, coming directly from their pockets, wallets and bank accounts. That's quite generous of them -- why not show your own support by picking up some DLC for Alien Hominid or Castle Crashers before the promotion ends next Sunday?

We may not have been huge fans of Left 4 Dead 2 (except for Xav!), but you might be tempted to try it for yourself through Amazon today where you can pick up this Deal of the Day for just $35 on Xbox 360 or $28 on PC. Additionally, Amazon's Gold Box is featuring video game Lightning Deals throughout the day. Currently, the standard edition of Fallout 3 is going fast (for $18), but seven more deals are queued up. We only have hints as to what they'll be -- the next one sounds a heckuva lot like Assassin's Creed 2 -- but if "the original zombie killing hit" teased for 5PM ET today doesn't turn out to be the Amiga/DOS classic Horror Zombies from the Crypt, somebody's getting sued for false advertising. [Thanks, Goldenchild]

If you're in Europe, you'll have the option to buy an even bigger, more expensive, but less crazy God of War III box than the "Ultimate Trilogy Edition." An Amazon.fr listing for a God of War III PS3 bundle has been spotted, complete with very believable image. According to Amazon, it'll be available March 17 for €349.95 (roughly $490) and will include the game and a 250GB PS3. A similar bundle will also be released for Heavy Rain on February 24 for the same price, according to Amazon France -- and wouldn't you know, the bundle box image is classier than the North American game box. There's also a supposed MAG bundle due out January 29, but Amazon just shows the bundle as a regular 250GB PS3 and a copy of MAG. [Via Kotaku; thanks francisco dang!]

In real life, an endoscopy is when a doctor needs to check out your gutty-works (you know, your innards) using a medical instrument called an endoscope, a long, tube-like device. In the world of Trauma Team, however, to perform an endoscopy you have to summon the power of the "eight million gods that exist to protect this world." You also have to use a bunch of instruments in what appears to be a somewhat complex orchestra conducted by a series of Wiimote and Nunchuk gestures. If there's one thing to take away from this video, it's that the inside of your body is most likely tumor-ridden with tiny little holes everywhere, and you should probably bug your doctor for a check-up. Of course, you could just ask your friend to take a look -- just make sure you sterilize the Wiimote first.

A very elegant Uncharted box set will be released in Japan on February 18 for ¥7,980 (about $87). The Uncharted Twin Pack contains both Uncharted 2 and the "PlayStation 3 the Best" Edition of Uncharted, in a lovely gold box that, thankfully, hides Japan's Uncharted 2 box from view. Along with this announcement comes the reveal of a demo bound for the Japanese PlayStation Store on January 28, plus a bunch of exciting DLC, which we can assume will arrive outside of Japan at some point. The first content pack will be free and in the Store on January 28 -- and it's kinda weird. It contains multiplayer character models for Resistance 2's Nathan Hale and a Chimera, InFamous' Cole (in both "good" and "evil" forms) and Zeke, and Killzone 2's Tomas Sevchenko and a Helghast soldier. The second DLC pack, dated February 25, adds two maps, one of which is based on the first Uncharted's "Ruins" area, and multiplayer models of the first game's Nate, Elena, Atoq Navarro, Eddy Raja, Roman Gabriel, and a mercenary. This pack won't be free, but no price has been announced. The third DLC pack, available April 15 and also premium, adds a new co-op multiplayer mode, along with four new maps and five new character skins. Check out the crossover character skins in our gallery below:

Although the Xbox may have had a great December at retail, it's a little difficult finding a big success story in GamerBytes' recap of Xbox Live sales for the month. Trials HD is probably the closest, with more that 91,000 people picking up the game's "Big Pack" DLC. Sadly, new games fared much worse with Team 17's costly Alien Breed Evolution selling to only 9,001 players all month. 0 Day Attack on Earth moved just 3,336 units in its first two weeks on sale. It's not a pretty picture, but we're heartened by the fact that somewhere out there on this big blue ball, exactly 700 people are really into Polar Panic. That's nice, isn't it?

Crate Entertainment is a company made up of the old Iron Lore team that worked on Titan Quest, arguably the most popular of the Diablo clones to come out in the past few years. Crate has finally announced its latest project, and it's Grim Dawn, another action RPG (it even namedrops Diablo in the description) set in the world of Cairn, where two forces have "decimated human civiliation" and are "warping the very fabric of reality." Sounds appropriately epic, though as long as there's plenty of loot, we're not too bothered. Five classes? Check. Skill trees? Check. A crafting system and co-op multiplayer? Check and check. Considering that even the same Titan Quest engine and toolset are being used, Grim Dawn doesn't sound too far off the hack-and-slash loot-hunting reservation. But that's not a bad thing -- we'll have to see if it plans to mix up the tried-and-true formula as it moves toward a planned digital release in 2011.
