Some were disappointed to find out that Harmonix's follow-up to The Beatles: Rock Band was Green Day: Rock Band. MTV Games' Paul DeGooyer says the band was heavily demanded on the official Rock Band forums and added that a dedicated game would "satisfy a good amount of the constituency." DeGooyer, perhaps attempting to appease naysayers, also told Newsarama.com that "it's of course not going to be our only game this year." So what is this mystery Rock Band game that DeGooyer is referring to? Most likely, it's the inevitable-but-not-quite-officially-announced Rock Band 3. While The Beatles and Green Day will take advantage of vocal harmonies, it seems Harmonix has other significant updates to make for the Rock Band platform. "As efficient as digital distribution is, there are still things that are much more efficiently delivered as a disc. In terms of major upgrades, I mean. That said, we haven't announce any formal plans for a sequel game ... yet." Of course, we could be wrong about this whole "Rock Band 3" nonsense. Perhaps Harmonix will make our dreams come true with their real secret project: Jonas Brothers: Rock Band.

Click to see the full image. The update may not be big, but the savings are as the PlayStation Network is holding its "10 for '10 Game Sale" this week. Until next Wednesday, January 27, pick up games like Critter Crunch and Burn Zombie Burn for half off -- wow, does this sound familiar. It's not just PS3, as Savage Moon: The Hera Campaign and Crystal Defenders for PSP are also discounted. Check out the full PSN update after the break, along with the PSP comics update. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Are you curious whether your computer's robot brain is beefy enough To Catch an Aliens vs. Predator? You don't have to stress about it any longer: Sega recently revealed the system requirements for the PC version of the game. There's nothing too prohibitive in there (unless you're still vehemently sticking to your Windows 95 OS), and as Big Download reminds us, AvP will be one of the first games to natively support DirectX 11. Check out the full list of requirements after the jump!

There's no gameplay in the two recently release Risk: Factions trailers, but the clips do give context to the previously presented and purrrr-fectly bizarre screenshots. With animation that looks like it's straight out of Penny Arcade Adventures -- not surprising, considering both are done by Powerhouse Animations -- the trailer sets the stage for a grand war between humans and felines. Of course, there are still three other factions yet to be revealed. We really have no idea what to think about Risk: Factions, but we're definitely interested. Sure, it seems a bit silly, but regular Risk is included in the package and the game is being developed by Stainless Games, the same studio that did XBLA's incredibly competent Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers. XBLA has been without Risk too long, so let's get this puppy (possible faction?) out the door.

If given one adjective to describe Metal Gear Solid's eyepatched protagonist, Solid Snake, most people would probably use the word "stealthy." While appropriate, we prefer to think of him as "efficient" -- after all, if he wastes his precious rations, tranquilizer darts or porno mags, he's just as good as dead. If you want to be like Snake in every aspect of your life, we suggest adopting his efficiency when purchasing video games. You could start with the Metal Gear Solid PSP bundle which includes Portable Ops, Portable Ops Plus and MGS: Digital Graphic Novel for the reasonable price of $29.99. With that, you won't waste any time adding a bunch of games to an intangible check-out cart. Just one thing -- boom -- and then you're ready to do other Snake-ish things. Like blowing up tankers! Or swallowing gravel.

Koei released a new trailer for the latest PSP Dynasty Warriors game, Multi Raid 2, today. Multi Raid (known as Strikeforce in America) features weird fantasy monsters, transformations, and, most importantly, ad hoc multiplayer. And maybe it's just us, but this trailer briefly makes the series look ... kind of cool (specifically when it shows that army of glowy-eyed dudes). See the trailer after the break. If the trailer made you want to try the game, good news! Koei just made a Japanese demo available from its website. Download away! Something tells us you won't need to read a lot of text to understand what's going on (since what's going on is you mashing buttons to kill thousands of soldiers). [Via Koei Warriors]
