Finnish developer Pixolane expects to make its PS3 debut later this year with its first game, Rust Buccaneers. The PlayStation Network title is an arcade-style shooter featuring modern-day pirates. Just like pirates have done throughout history, though, players will raid cargo and passenger ships, and battle do-gooder patrol boats. The more ships you conquer, the higher your "infamy" becomes, and online leaderboards will keep track of the most notorious pirates on the high servers. Rust Buccaneers promises both single and multiplayer modes. Not much else is known about the game at the moment, but we'll let you know when more details sail across our pirate radar.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is slowing its gait just a bit. Originally slated for release in Japan on March 18, the game is now expected on April 29, as displayed on its official site. In a statement announcing the delay, Konami said the extra development time was needed to ensure customer satisfaction. At least fans can now play Piece Walker while they wait. Whatever the issue is with the development, it appears not be affectimg the localization process, as the release dates for the rest of the world (May 25 for North America, May 27 for most of Europe, and May 28 for the UK) have yet to change. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has registered his apparent disinterest in two recent technological innovations. First, Iwata dismissed Apple's iPad, a potential DSi XL competitor. "It's just a bigger iPod Touch," he said of the big iPod Touch unveiled this week. As for 3D gaming, which was all the rage at CES, "I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home," Iwata told the Associated Press, "How is that going to look to other people?'' Can you imagine standing on a board and flapping your arms like a giant bird -- with glasses on? Humiliating. Iwata offered few hints of what new technology would be adopted by Nintendo, saying only that there was some form of new hardware in the works. Additionally, he seemingly denied previous "speculation" about the features of a new Nintendo handheld. "I question whether those features would be enough to get people to buy new machines," Iwata said.

Next week's Rock Band Weekly update puts country stars on the road again, yup, they just can't wait to get on the road again. So, this is the part where I confess that I know little to nothing about the artists featured in the next update. Honestly, the closest I get to country is driving in my friend's pick-up along the forest-filled back roads of Connecticut. Check out the full pricing and track details for the console releases after the break.

When playing the God of War games, we've often wondered, "If Kratos' unflagging rage could be assigned a flavor, what flavor would it be?" Finally, that question will be answered by Mountain Dew and 7-Eleven, which are collaborating on the next advancement in frozen sugar-drink technology: The Kratos Fury Slurpee. We know that seems like the kind of thing we'd make up for comedic effect, but we assure you, it's berry real. You can pick up a tall, refreshing cup of Fury (which includes nonconsumable codes for DLC armor) starting February 1, at which point you'll learn that Kratos' anger actually tastes like a pleasant mix of blackberries and lime. And the blood of a freshly-slain Gorgon. But, yeah, mostly just blackberries and lime.
