Holy wow, there's actually some news about Obsidian / Bethesda's Fallout: New Vegas. We hadn't seen hide nor hair of the game since its announcement in April of last year and ... well, we still haven't. No, dear Readers, today's news is merely that the game will be distributed in many locales outside of the US by Namco Bandai. Specifically, the Japan-headquartered giant will be putting New Vegas into the hands of gamers in Australia, Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and Rivet City. (We made that last one up.) For its part, Bethesda mostly talked up the partnership, but added that, "Fallout: New Vegas builds upon the immersive gaming experience that made Fallout 3 the 2008 Game of the Year." Yes, please! Dragon Age: Origins presents strong evidence that great games can overcome gawd-awful graphics, but BioWare isn't about to test that theory -- and the limits of our forgiveness -- again in the sequel. "I think one of the key things we're working on in Dragon Age 2 is the technology," BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk recently told Joystiq. "I can confirm that we're doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it -- to make it visually super hot." Now, to clarify, frisky rogue foursomes and lesbian alien sex are measured on different "super hot" scales, as Zeschuk conceded, "Dragon Age is, in the structural sense, a fundamentally different game than Mass Effect ... You have to make different technical considerations." Certainly, with Dragon Age: Origins, those considerations were designed to benefit the superior PC version. Still, there's hope for a console sequel makeover, since, in Zeschuk's words, the process of iteration allows a developer to "get to a much higher level." "I think the overall visual style we're going to continue to evolve in Dragon Age," Zeschuk added. "People are going to see some cool ... I can't really say too much, but I think Dragon Age as a world is interesting. It's a timeline, and you can go anywhere." Go anywhere, huh? So, like the future Ferelden, where a race of sexy blue aliens have been possessed by horny desire demons? Super hot.

Here’s what Priestess Rao from Okami would look like if she were rendered realistically…and had a slightly more bountiful bosom. I think seeing Okami like this automatically kills the style!

It's hard being Professor Layton. Always solving puzzles, talking with strange people and, of course, dealing with that snot-nosed kid, Luke. Even a gentleman like Professor Layton needs to relax now and again, and what better way to relax than a soothing session of figure skating? That's exactly what this Professor Layton does, though, admittedly, it's actually just some guy in a Layton costume. Still, it's oddly mesmerizing to watch. Check it out after the break and we're sure you'll agree. One bit of advice for the Professor: Be careful out there or you might just end up in an unintentional sequel, Professor Layton and the Exorbitant Hospital Bill. [Via Kotaku]

At an event in the UK yesterday, EA Sports head honcho Peter Moore outright refuted any possibility of his division at EA developing sports games with 3D technology in mind. In speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, the affable exec states, "Believe me, there's nothing going on right now that would say I'm ready to demo a 3D sports game." That said, on the subject of Project Natal and the Sony Motion Controller, Moore opened up to many more possibilities. "We're getting in sync with Sony's motion controller and Project Natal with what Sony and Microsoft want to do with their publishing partners, so stay tuned for further information on that as we get closer to the date." When pressed for dates on either project, though, he remained cagey, saying "I do not know when they're launching ... certainly Sony has made no public pronouncement at all, and Microsoft has said 'holiday', which obviously gives fudge room." So! Madden Natal: confirmed? Not quite. The exec does note that "core intellectual property" would be heading up the motion charge "in some shape of fashion on those platforms." And considering Moore has already confirmed a version of EA Sports Active for Natal, we have to imagine (and hope) that he has more of that kind of thing in mind.

A new Modern Warfare 2 patch will be releasing tonight for the PS3 version. Once again, a number of exploits will be addressed, including: Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized Fix for "infinite care package" exploit Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and "elevators" Fixes to prevent various XP hacks Unfortunately, the patch went live earlier in Europe, and broke a key feature of the game: being able to play online. Since then, the patch has been pulled, and is awaiting yet another fix. Once SCEA certification clears the patch, it will go live in both territories. An Xbox 360 version of the patch is also in the works, but there is currently "no ETA" on when it will go live. [Thanks Kurby!]

Let me tell you something. It's rough being one of the few Joystiq editors that isn't currently knee-deep in the space-faring magic of Mass Effect 2. The constant insults, the pointing and laughing, the threats on my life; it gets old really fast. And now Electronic Arts has to announce that Mass Effect 2 has already shipped two million units worldwide in its first week. The press release also notes that the game has earned more than 40 perfect review scores. And, of course, the Joystiq review drips with effusive, well-earned praise. I get it, okay? I need to play it, and I will, just as soon as soon as I finish the first Mass Effect. Oh, gotta go. Looks like Justin is putting another stink bomb in my lunch box.
