Folks who elected to resubmerge themselves into the world of Rapture using a computer have had to suffer a pretty serious display issue -- due to a last minute bug fix, the PC version of BioShock 2 shipped without proper widescreen monitor support. The game would simply slap a letterbox on the 4:3 display, limiting the player's field of view. Fortunately, a patch released today adds 16:9 and 16:10 resolution support to the game's repertoire, meaning you'll finally be able to see that Splicer that's been creeping alongside you for the past few days.

The patch also fixes an issue in which "holding the M1 button would not register in Multiplayer gameplay," which sounds equally serious. Those are the only two fixes in the available update; however, 2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey promises "a larger, more extensive patch" is currently in the works.

lf you happen to have a Japanese Wii, you may have sort of been able to play the arcade classic Crazy Climber before, but only the not-great Wii remake. Now the original is available ... for 800 Wii Points! Oh, Virtual Console Arcade pricing. And, of course, there's more Phoenix Wright. People who didn't have to wait a year between Ace Attorney games don't know how good they have it.

On DSiWare, there's an interesting kanji puzzle game which is absolutely guaranteed never to leave Japan. at Kanji Game (you can see the rest of the title in the list) appears to involve pairs of Japanese characters dropping Tetris-style, with the goal of making new words.
  • Crazy Climber (Arcade, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (WiiWare, 1 player, 1,200 Wii Points)
  • Fantasic Cube (WiiWare, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • at Kanji Game Jukugo Kanjukuken Kanshuu (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
  • Hachi-Wan Diver DS:Naruzou-kun Hasami Shogi (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
  • Aquarium with Clock (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points)
  • 3 Minute Tenkatouitsu: Western Japan Sengoku Quiz/Eastern Japan Sengoku Quiz (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points each)
  • Idol Nights (DSiWare, 1-4 players, 800 DSi Points)
  • Pocket Rurubu: Hakone/Shinshu (DSiWare, 1 player, 800 DSi Points each)
  • What Day is it? Encyclopedia from Mypedia (DSiWare, 1 player, 800 DSi Points)

Geekadelphia, arguably the best Philadelphia-centric tech and entertainment blog around, is hosting a pretty clever contest. The site is giving away a PSP Go and a $50 PSN card to the amateur engineer who can create the best representation of the City of Brotherly Love in LittleBigPlanet. Geekadelphia is accepting entries (limit one per person) until March 10 -- three days later, the site will reveal the winner at a chiptunes dance party at Philly's Studio 34.

Check out Geek's announcement for more information about the contest. Get a move on, though -- we've already started crafting our auto-play music level of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air intro.

As is becoming custom, Major Nelson has dropped the schedule for next month's offerings on Xbox Live Marketplace. March has quite a bit in store, particularly the Xbox Live Arcade Block Party, which will feature Rare's N64 classic, Perfect Dark. Other notables include Fallout 3 on Games on Demand, the Call of Duty: World at War map bundle for $20 and Street Fighter IV Avatar apparel. The schedule also serves as a reminder of other big March launches, including Microsoft's Game Room service and the "Desperate Escape" episode for Resident Evil 5.

Find the full schedule after the break.

The innovative time-bending puzzler Echoshift is coming to PSP this Thursday, February 25th, for $14.99. If you haven't tried the downloadable demo, there's still time to fix your mistake. Our very own JC Fletcher called it "one of the most engrossing games at Tokyo Game Show" -- and he has arguably the best taste on all of Joystiq.

The full echoshift experience will feature 56 levels and "three different game modes" for each level. Noticeably absent in this release is a level editor, akin to the one found in Echochrome. We're going to complain to Sony, but in the meantime, you can watch a new trailer after the break.

Being a giant, beloved video game blog has its downsides. For example, we sometimes neglect to give independent developers our coverage love (or loverage, if you will) as we get caught up in AAA, AAAA or the rare quintuple-A titles. To remedy that, we're giving indies the chance to create their own loverage and sell you, the fans, on their studios and products. This week we talk with Morsel, a studio that started with little more than three weeks of experience and the burning desire to get totally rich.

How did your company get started?

Lead programmer Matthew Stenback: Morsel started last summer when my final exams finished up and I was doing everything I possibly could to stay away from a fast food or similar dreadful summer job. I had never programmed much of anything before, and hadn't really considered the intricate mechanics of games. However, I decided that I was going to make an indie game, it was going to make me rich, and this would be the start of an awesome summer. Apparently though, programming a game is pretty complex (who knew right?), and I was ready to bail out more than a few times in the beginning. However, I was lucky to team up with a really talented artist and musician who just so happened to have similar goals.

So there was Morsel - programmer, artist, and musician - total combined experience making games: 23 days.

While it's been some time since we last heard about the third installment in the Steampunkian Penny Arcade Adventures series, a glimmer of hope resides in the coming months with PAX East. A Hothead representative confirmed to Joystiq that, "They [Hothead] are hoping to have something to announce by PAX East. Unfortunately, we won't have anything before then." Presumably, we'll exclaim "oooooh" when we do finally see the game, as Mike "Gabe" Krahulik explained when we last heard from the duo about the game's absence.

Jerry "Tycho" Holkins further confirmed the possibility of an appearance for PAA: Episode 3 at PAX East, telling MTV Multiplayer, "Listen very closely to the announcements at PAX!" We're certainly ready to "feel the vigor in all our limbs," as Holkins claimed we would last September, but it's been so long we're not sure we'll remember that city-saving, hobo-beating, purple pantaloon-wearing protagonist of ours ... oh ... well, maybe not.

It didn't take long after the announcement of Rocksteady's acquisition for WBIE to reveal the next Batman game. In fact, it's just really weird timing, because the next Batman game has nothing to do with Rocksteady and probably won't be anything like Arkham Asylum. But there's a chance that this Batman game will be surprisingly good, as well: it's being made by A Boy and His Blob/Contra 4/Shantae developer WayForward.

The publisher announced a Wii and DS game coming this fall based on the comedic Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon. The cooperative game will allow a second player to control another DC Comics hero, from a group including the Blue Beetle, Green Lantern, Robin, and Aquaman. Encouragingly, Plastic Man also appears on the box art and the splash image for the game's website. Connecting the DS version to the Wii version will allow a friend to use the DS to control the 5th Dimensional fanboy Bat-Mite in the Wii game.

Yes, Bat-Mite's in the (mass-market) game, and Blue Beetle and Plastic Man are both on the cover. Somehow, when we weren't looking, the world became a wonderful place for DC Comics nerds.
