All the story we need in Trauma Team is "some people get sick, and doctors make them better." But Atlus has generously included a story with the medical action game. In a new featurette on the Atlus site, scenario writer Teppei Kobayashi describes the process of writing for six different medical disciplines, including descriptions of required research, and the fact that the team happened to be working on a medical game when the swine flu epidemic gained notoriety.

A couple of videos of story sequences are also included in the featurette. In addition, new screens are available here.

While it's been some time since we last heard about the third installment in the Steampunkian Penny Arcade Adventures series, a glimmer of hope resides in the coming months with PAX East. A Penny Arcade representative confirmed to Joystiq that, "They [Penny Arcade] are hoping to have something to announce by PAX East. Unfortunately, we won't have anything before then." Presumably, we'll exclaim "oooooh" when we do finally see the game, as Mike "Gabe" Krahulik explained when we last heard from the duo about the game's absence.

Jerry "Tycho" Holkins further confirmed the possibility of an appearance for PAA: Episode 3 at PAX East, telling MTV Multiplayer, "Listen very closely to the announcements at PAX!" We're certainly ready to "feel the vigor in all our limbs," as Holkins claimed we would last September, but it's been so long we're not sure we'll remember that city-saving, hobo-beating, purple pantaloon-wearing protagonist of ours ... oh ... well, maybe not.

Welcome to the Mistbound universe! It’s my pleasure to announce that today Greed Corp, the first of many multi-genre games set in Mistbound, makes its North American debut on PlayStation Network.

Since Greed Corp is an introduction to the universe of Mistbound, I invite you to check out some of the art, screenshots and the trailer we’ve prepared for you here. We think you’ll agree, the art style, which draws heavily from both steampunk influences and our love for Miyazaki and Pixar films, is really fun and unique. As far as the gameplay, we tried to take the idea of a turn-based strategy game and add in a new twist, hence our land-collapsing mechanic, which is reminiscent of the old “Don’t’ break The Ice” tabletop game.

There’s plenty to do in the game as well. You can play as one of four factions in singleplayer mode, each of which has its own campaign and 24 maps to play on. But really, Greed Corp is about seeing how greedy you can be with your friends, so we have 36 maps to play a variety of multiplayer modes with up to 4-players online, local and computer controlled. All that and it’s only $9.99!

If that’s not enough, we here at W!Games are putting together a little giveaway in celebration of our first Mistbound Game! All you need to do is the following question about Mistbound:

1. How many square miles of land are surrounded by a mist that the sun never burns off?

Need a hint? Visit www.greedcorp.com. Email your answers to greedcorpgiveaway@gmail.com along with your name and mailing address for a chance to win a limited edition art book featuring over 40 pages of never before seen art from the Mistbound universe!

Now, who’s feeling greedy?

- Marco

Active Steam users will likely find the first half of this post to be a bit on the old hat side, but we soldier on: Valve's flipped the switch on a new and improved beta version of Steam. If you've already got a Steam account, you can download the new version by hitting up this page. The beta adds all kinds of nifty stuff, like accessible lists of what games your friends have downloaded (along with their personal stats for each title) and some new ways for you to sort and organize game libraries. There's also cross-game achievement tracking -- and Valve's finally done away with Internet Explorer rendering, swapping it out for the friendlier open-source WebKit engine.

But, that's not all! Our sister site Big Download was cruising around the new achievements interface and noticed that Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One now have achievements listed under them. As you know, Half-Life 2 released right around the time achievements were finalized, so it never arrived on Steam with them. Sadly, there's no news other than the icons -- which look a lot like those found in the Orange Box on Xbox 360. We'll be sure to keep you posted.

PlayStation classic Grandia will make its way to the PSN this Thursday, February 25, at a price far less than what you'd pay for a new or used copy. For $10, North America can finally access the RPG that's been on the Japanese PSN since April 2009 -- and on the Sega Saturn since 1997.

Grandia stands out from other JRPGs with its exciting combat system, which was obviously in its infancy during the first installment. In fact, we've been waiting for another high-profile game to iterate Grandia's turn-based battle system for years. Y'all just wait, when Joystiq publishing is off the ground, we'll iterate the heck out of it.

The DSi XL is the star of the show at the Nintendo Media Summit, with the announcement an official price and release date for the system, as well as the marketing material posted above. There are no shocking revelations in the video -- well, aside from the fact that they actually went with "A Larger Experience" for the device's advertising catchphrase. A lesser blog might mention how that sounds like the slogan of one of those commercials that come on cable television after midnight. We'll abstain from making the reference.

The video does a great job of showing the size of the the device in correlation to human hands of various shapes and sizes. Check it out, and imagine what that Squiggle Pen-sized stylus will look like in your own meaty grasp.

We've gotten pretty into MAG here at Joystiq HQ, but it's had the unintended side effect of causing us all to get really excited about incredibly minute things in patch notes. Take for example the recently-detailed 1.03 patch for the game, due tomorrow. We know for a fact that at least one Joystiq staffer sent a co-worker an instant message reading "'Changed resuscitated player's camera orientation to match the last camera direction used while incapacitated instead of the pre-harm camera.' YES." See? Super nerdy.

Sure, there are some bigger, easier-to-understand balancing changes in there, too, but if you're a MAG fan, we imagine you'll be inclined as we are to ravenously dissect all the nuts and bolts.
