It could just be our lowered expectations for games including kart racing, Sonic or "All-Stars" in the title, but we were pretty surprised by the positive buzz for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing; the Wii, PS3 and 360 versions are all doing well with a 79 percent average on Metacritic. Here's what's being said:

GameSpot (80/100): "Although the core of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is obviously pulled straight out of Mario Kart, this wacky racer can stand on its own four wheels. The tight controls and excellent track design ensure that head-to-head competition is always exciting, but it's so fun just to play around with these karts that it's easy to lose hours climbing the online leaderboards in Time Trial mode."

1UP (B): "Though it has some hiccups, unexciting party modes, and a questionable difficulty curve, All-Stars Racing is a respectable effort that makes a good kart racer at its core (and is at least much more cohesive than Sega Superstars Tennis)."

Nintendo Power (8/10): "It isn't quite the fan paradise it could have been, but it's a very good racer that makes great use of classic Sega franchises. We wouldn't mind a sequel with more franchises and tracks included."

IGN: (8/10): "It's pleasantly surprising to find out that the Nintendo Wii edition - apart from the lower resolution - gets similar treatment with close to the exact same features as the stronger hardware."Metareview: Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri was a big focal point at yesterday's Nintendo Media Summit, but there seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding the demo disc shipping March 8. It turns out, that isn't the GameStop pre-order incentive it was made out to be. Instead, the demo disc will be free for all -- a GameStop pre-order will net you a card with 500 Wii Points on it.

As for getting the demo disc, you'll be able to walk into any GameStop location and grab one starting March 8.

Emerging from "deep cover" (a euphemism for plastic surgery in Eastern Europe), where it received "tweaks," Alpha Protocol is ready to shake its money maker and get everyone interested in it again with a new trailer and screenshots. Not only that, but the game's box art has also received a facelift, adding several more guns to what was only a two pistol cover before.

Alpha Protocol is set to prevent war in the States on June 1, with layovers in Australia and Europe on May 27 and 28, respectively.

It’s only been a week since the season premiere of The Tester and I know many of you are already speculating about who will stay, who’s going home AND what will the remaining competitors face next. You don’t have to wait any longer to find out – Episode 2 of ‘The Tester’ arrives later today. The battle heats up this week for the aspiring SCEA game testers as the competition gets more physical and they face legendary game designer David Jaffe. As one of the most respected professionals in the industry, we’re honored to have him join the panel and evaluate the candidates in action. You don’t want to miss the insight and perspective he brings to the show. In the epic spirit of his most famous game, check out this week’s Episode 2 preview:

While last week’s premiere episode tested each individual’s ability to discern visual differences as a key skill to become a game tester, in Episode 2, the cast takes on their first ‘team’ challenge. The test this week is all about communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively is important in any job, but especially critical in game development. Who can follow directions? Who can give them? Who can do this effectively using human hamster balls, blindfolds, and a bullhorn?

If you haven’t started watching The Tester, it is a great time to start. Can Fame Girl redeem herself? What’s Doc planning? Who will come out on top?

The Tester will be available in both Standard and High Definition formats from PlayStation Store. And, remember it’s also showing in the PlayStation Home Theater where you gotta get this week’s new free T-shirt. There’s also a commemorative ‘goat chair’ available for purchase for your personal space.

Thanks for downloading and watching, everyone. Enjoy the show.

Comm scan has detected that new Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Avatar items are now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Yes, even more Star Wars stuff for your digital self. Normally, we would scoff at things like this, but hey ... there's a Stormtrooper outfit. Oh sure, you could get a clone trooper outfit before, but why waste money on that when the obviously superior Stormtrooper armor is available?

Check out the full collection of gear, including the Starkiller lightsaber, on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Our puritanical grandmother always tried to convince us that art is evil, but we never believed her until this morning. Though we fell asleep in a world where we loved every square pixel of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, we awake to this gorgeous fan art from DeviantArt user brilcrist and now all we can think of is how much we wish the game looked exactly like that.

So, Capcom, what would you say to a big-budget, meticulously detailed game centered on Miles Edgeworth costing millions of dollars and countless man hours to produce?

... Hey, where are you going?
