Need a replacement battery for that import DSi? How about your import DSi LL? Nintendo has opened up an online store to sell you just those items. I haven’t heard of anyone needing replacement batteries for their DS units, but now there’s a place to get official batteries. No word on [...]
[Famitsu]
Here's your daily dose of Japan envy, as Famitsu reveals a set of pretty sweet pre-order bonuses for Kojima's upcoming PSP game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The first item is a jigsaw puzzle appropriately called "Love & Piece," while the other pun-tastic item is the plastic "Peace Water" bottle -- an aluminum water bottle/comically large key chain that kinda looks like a grenade. Some days you go through the rain and some days you want to drink from an appropriately-themed liquid transportation device, right?
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set to debut in Japan on April 29, while US gamers will be forced to wait until May 25.
We suggested our enthusiasm for THQ's Beat City may be reduced upon seeing actual screenshots of the rhythm-based minigame collection. We're delighted to report that in addition to sounding like a neat idea, we think it looks pretty interesting as well! It's got an unusual geometric art style.
You can inspect the style of Beat City for yourself in our gallery, and even see storyboard-style sequences that are ... intended to explain the gameplay. We see an assembly line of crows being turned into parrots. We see a loving couple wearing outfits that grow spontaneously more ren-faire. We don't feel illuminated.

Real offender: Great Deku Tree & Great Deku Tree Sprout
The Great Deku Tree certainly didn’t seem very smart with his choice of person to save Hyrule from disappearing off the face of the earth. Lucky for him, Link managed to step up to the [...]
March continues the trend of strong releases for both Wii and DS. There are some heavy-hitters on the way, with Red Steel 2 fronting the barrage. Will this long in the works sequel be worth the wait? Will we finally get the Red Steel experience that we wanted from the first game?

Assassin's Creed 2 has yet to even arrive on PC, but ever since PC Gamer got an early hands-on with the final retail version, Ubisoft's ... somewhat cumbersome (to be very polite) internet-based DRM has caused a bit of a worry for some gamers. As it would seem, regardless of consumer complaint, the publisher is allegedly moving ahead with plans to implement the anti-piracy software in many of its upcoming titles.
Softpedia reports that an Ubi rep (speaking with PC Gamer) has confirmed Splinter Cell: Conviction, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic, and the recently announced Ghost Recon: Future Soldier to employ the DRM tools. The publisher also specifically pointed out that different titles handle the loss of data differently -- for instance, AC2 depends on checkpoints and The Settlers 7 saves wherever you last were -- though PC Gamer supposedly pressed for an answer to the question on all our minds: Will every PC game from Ubisoft in the future have this DRM?
Cryptically, the publisher replied, "It's hard for us to say, yes, from now until the day that we all die all of our games are going to include this but most will." While we can appreciate the efforts of publishers to diminish piracy of their games, we can't help but wonder what the logic is in seemingly frustrating your already dwindling legitimate consumer base with measures targeting the folks who probably wouldn't purchase games anyway.
Here’s a reason to get excited about GDC! Steve Wiebe, current Donkey Kong Jr. champion and former Donkey Kong champion, will be trying to regain his Donkey Kong crown during GDC. He’ll be attempting to grab that record once again, live for all to see. Will he be able to take down [...]
Even though Mega Man 10 includes a playable version of Mega Man 9's Proto Man at no additional cost, Capcom will still offer at least one additional character as premium DLC. Bass, a sort of evil Mega Man character introduced in Mega Man 7 and playable in Mega Man & Bass, will be released as a DLC character for the Wii version of Mega Man 10 on April 5 for 200 Wii Points ($2), according to Nintendo's Mega Man 10 page. A special stage will be available the same day for 300 Points.
An "Endless Attack Mode" will follow for 300 points on April 26, along with two more special stages for 100 Points each. These DLC dates are likely to be different for the other versions of Mega Man 10, if the add-on content is planned for all releases, since the release dates for the actual game are different on other platforms. We're contacted Capcom to verify.

A portion of a 1up review…
MM10 fumbles the forward momentum established by its predecessor, and that’s a shame. MM9 promised a renaissance for the series, but MM10 suggests that’s it business as usual for Capcom. Still, while this may amount to little more than yet another Mega Man sequel, it’s still one of the best [...]
