A new Resident Evil 5 DLC episode, "Desperate Escape," is out today on Xbox Live and tomorrow on PSN. To celebrate, Capcom has once again set up your friends at Joystiq with five "Chibi Majini" T-shirts (in red this time) and DLC codes for the new episode on your choice of PS3 or Xbox 360.

If you want a closer look at the adorably murderable majini on the shirt, you'll find one after the break. Otherwise, to enter for your chance to win:
  • Leave a comment on this post telling us which Resident Evil character you would hope makes a cameo in "Desperate Escape"
  • You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec)
  • Limit 1 entry per person
  • This entry period ends at 2:00PM ET on Thursday, March 4
  • We'll randomly select five winners at that time to each receive a red "Chibi Majini" T-shirt [ARV $20] and a "Desperate Escape" DLC code [ARV $5] -- please check your emails!
  • For a list of complete rules, click here.
What is Joyswag? Since we don't keep the games and merchandise we receive for review or promotional purposes, it becomes "Joyswag," which is passed along to our readers. For more info on our policy, click here.

Human Soft calls its upcoming MotionPlus-enhanced rock climbing game HardGrip "the first extreme rock climbing game for Wii," but we disagree with that appellation. How could Human Soft (or anyone) forget Rock N' Roll Climber, Nintendo's Balance Board-capable WiiWare game that combined rock climbing with air guitar? We can't imagine a more extreme rock climbing game on Wii.

While the Wii version is the only officially announced release, Xbox owners who want to claw at thin air (and PlayStation 3 owners who want to follow the bouncing ball up the side of a mountain) may be in luck. "In addition to the Wii product," the press release notes, "Human Soft is working on versions of HardGrip for other upcoming motion-based game systems."

Ever since Portal was updated on Steam two days ago, fans have been busy finding the hidden Morse code messages added to the game, and deciphering them to unravel what appears to be some kind of ARG.

Early messages -- in plain Morse code as well as meta-Morse code that translated to written Morse code "beeps", revealed little but what seemed like jokes and internal bootup sequences from GlaDOS. Others were revealed as SSTV-coded images, low-res pictures of random items, all bearing the Aperture Science logo. Within those, fans quickly found a numeric code that turned out to lead to a BBS (remember those?) containing a series of Aperture-related ASCII images of GlaDOS, as well as a series of messages from fictional Aperture Science founder Cave Johnson, who apparently hates both witchcraft and safety.

Steam forum users are feverishly working through all the information to solve the overarching puzzle of what this all means. At this point, being a mere sequel tease, or connecting the Portal and Half-Life universes, would be a disappointment. We already knew there was a Portal 2 on the way, and we already knew that the storylines were loosely connected. Valve hiding a complex series of clues inside an old game is far more interesting than either of those things.

As listed in the most recent issue of Japanese mag Famitsu (and translated by Andriasang), Platinum Games' fourth effort for Sega, Vanquish, is headed to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this winter. The game's director, the acclaimed Shinji Mikami, spoke with the Japanese mag recently and divulged information that wasn't easily gleamed from the debut trailer.

Apparently, Atsushi Inaba (ex-CEO of Clover Studios) will be serving as producer on what Mikami calls a "shooter that places importance on the good tempo and feeling of rhythm you get from playing an action game." The game's said to be set in a near future where US/Russian Cold War relations have resulted in a standoff and, instead of a traditional biotic life form war, Vanquish sees the main character battling robots while dressed in lightweight amor. "There are lots of games where you shoot and kill people, so this time we wanted to try and see how we could convey the good feeling of shooting robots." Truer words, Mr. Mikami. Truer words.

Allegedly the game is around 80 percent done at this point, with only "annoying" work left to (enemy and ally AI are among the few tasks left). Will we see Vanquish on North American shores this winter as well? We're unfortunately not sure just yet, but with the game "developed with overseas markets in its sights," we have to imagine Platinum Games would like its latest title to land in our trigger-happy hands as soon as possible.

Hi guys, Rocket Racing is the next title to hit PSP minis from Halfbrick, and I’m excited to announce that it will be released next Thursday, March 11.

Rocket Racing has been developed from the ground up, combining high-speed futuristic racing with classic top-down gameplay, which is a perfect fit for minis. Each track has been designed with a unique twist, suspended high in the air above the clouds and cityscapes to give players a light and almost surreal feeling as they drift around the crisp, detailed courses.

Challenge Mode is the main backbone of gameplay, giving players a number of tasks to complete over six different tiers. Completing once challenge with its specific objectives will unlock adjacent challenges along the tier, so players can choose their own path to the final race.

A key part of racing is the ability to grind. Grinding is a new concept which involves positioning your rockets against the outer walls of the tracks. This opposing force will give you a speed boost as well as grind points, and can be chained for entire races to get the maximum speed possible!

Grand Prix mode pits players against opponents in a series of races over four difficulty levels. Completionists can collect gold trophies as they race, and along with the Challenge Mode, take steps to unlocking and winning every event in the game for the elusive 100% Award!

As we all know, multiplayer is a big part of any racing game. We didn’t want Rocket Racing to miss out on the action, so to round up the package is Party Mode! This puts up to four players in the hotseat as they take turns setting and breaking each other’s score on a huge variety of tracks, in what could be described as a game of HORSE with rocket power. Party Mode even lets players customize how to win – be it with the fastest time, highest total or single grind score!

Best of all, there’s no time to wait! Rocket Racing is out on March 11 on the PlayStation Store for $4.99, and is compatible with both PSP and PS3. We at Halfbrick hope you enjoy it!
