Look, we don't like giving out ultimatums here; people are free to do what they want and we wouldn't dare dream of interfering. But we feel like we just can't go on if you don't own a copy of Platinum Games' MadWorld -- or have at least played it -- at this point in time.
So, we'd like to point out this sale over at Newegg. The game will only set you back a double sawbuck ($10) and even has free shipping -- there's really no excuse for you to refuse our request. Fine, you don't even have to play it. Just give it to a friend and hang out while they enjoy the over-the-top carnage and hilarious commentating duo of Greg Proops and John Di Maggio. Relationships are give and take, so work with us here, guys!

We're in day three of MLB 2K10's release, and also day three of MLB 2K10's multiplayer problems. While player-to-player game invitations are said not to be involved, many are having problems connecting to ranked matches. The solution requires a patch. More »

Take a moment just to look at the first official Crysis 2 screenshots released by EA. Yep, stunning, aren't they? Unfortunately, they're not indicative of actual gameplay, considering the upcoming multiplatform title is a first-person shooter, not third.
Still, we can't help but admire the incredible graphical fidelity of these screens. Most likely, these shots were taken from the PC version of the game, but we'll have a full report on the console versions of the game in April. Until then, feel free to spend some quality time in our gallery.
Weren't quite fast enough to snag a Blur multiplayer beta code this morning? We only had 1,000 and they were gone in less than 30 minutes - we can hardly remember it, it was all a ... what's the word?
Nevertheless, we managed to squeeze another 6,500 codes (!) out of Activision and our giveaway page is back up! Hop to it!
*Key codes are not redeemable through Xbox Live. Use your key to register for the beta at Blurgame.com. The online beta begins Monday, March 8. Xbox Live Gold membership required.
It seems like a whole mess of outlets took a trip to Tokyo recently to play Platinum's upcoming Vanquish. ... What? Oh, well, no, we weren't there. It's fine though, it is. We're pretty sure that our invitation just got lost in the mail. (Our mail guy's a total Japanophile, so we'd believe it.) Besides, we were really busy that week. Just really busy with various things that we were doing.
... Anyway, we've read all the preview coverage that went up today and these are the broad strokes:
You'll play as a government agent named Sam who's using his futuristic battle suit, large arsenal and martial arts skills to recapture a solar-powered space station just used by Russia to blow up San Francisco. (Side note: If you want to make an armor guy mad, attack San Francisco.) As for what its third-person action feels like, we're seeing a lot of descriptors like "intense" and "frenetic," perhaps a move away from bulkier action heroes like Marcus and the Chief. The only character detail we know about Sam is that he smokes mid-fight, which is pretty much all we need to know. One sad note: No online multiplayer. Well, maybe in Vanquish 2: Still Vanquishin'.
What's that? You still want more? Well, maybe try Sega's blog or Game Informer or Eurogamer or basically anywhere but here. No, we told you, it's fine. *sniff*

With a pair of Modern Warfare 2 DLC packs set to deploy on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this year, talk around the DMZ has everybody wondering what new stomping grounds will get added. Well, according to The Tech Game, the first pack (due this spring) will be titled "Stimulus Package" and includes five new locales.
The images and accompanying video (the latter posted past the break) look legitimate enough, though we've sent word to Activision for confirmation. We doubt we'll hear back, considering the company has a lot on its plate right now, but don't say we didn't try!
The blue shell…the damn blue shell. One of the most feared weapons in video games. My favorite is when you accidentally throw the blue shell…when you’re in first place.
Rising Star Games has said that No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle was going to see release in Europe at the end of April. It turns out that they weren’t kidding, as we currently have an April 30th release date set. Euro Wii owners better rush out and plop down their preorder cash now. [...]
Alpha Protocol is showing off the "toys" in this latest trailer for the espionage RPG. Some of the footage features gadgets used to accomplish missions stealthily, but mostly it features guns and ammunition -- like phosphorus shells to set enemies aflame. Aside from the toys, the footage also gives us a better idea of what the gameplay looks like.
Alpha Protocol is currently expected June 1 in the US, while Australia and Europe receive the package drop a week earlier.

Taz hate water, but love gallery
Is Taz even still a popular character? Warner Bros. seems to think so, having announced Galactic Taz Ball for DS, the latest to come from the longtime collaboration between WB and developer WayForward (most recently, the two announced Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but also partnered for Duck Amuck).
Galactic Taz Ball, set on floating chunks of Earth that Marvin the Martian is in the process of stealing, combines two forms of gameplay. In the "Overworld" areas, you control Taz by moving the stylus trackball-style, turning into a tornado if enough speed is gathered. In the "Underworld," the game becomes a "side-scrolling puzzle game" in which Taz explores the Martian's machinery. Taz Ball will be released in Europe and Australia this May, with a fall release following in North America.
