Those looking to travel into Pacific City can do so via Boston this weekend, as Crackdown 2 will greet PAX East attendees with a pair of playable multiplayer modes. "Team Deathmatch" will encourage four-on-four devastation in a playground littered with weapons, vehicles and, eventually, horribly disfigured egos. The full game will support up to 16 combatants, along with "Rocket Tag," the second mode being shown off at PAX. It's like tag, but with ... arugula?

If you're keen on herban combat, be sure to swing by PAX East from March 26 to March 28! If you can't make it, just avoid reading about all the cool stuff that's happening there, okay? You'll feel better.

A portion of an IGN AU review… Sure, when all is said and done there’s not much to a five to 10-second “tap the screen” mini-game, but the fact that you can get something up and running and working in a short amount of time definitely fuels that sense of satisfaction and instant gratification.

What, are you still playing Cave Story? That's old news. With that now out on the Wii Shop Channel, it's time to turn your attention to the next Japanese indie PC game about exploring mysterious caves to be published on the Wii by Nicalis (phew) -- Nigoro's La-Mulana.

The developer released a new video of the in-development remake, along with a statement of intent to use the game's development blog as a sort of manual or strategy guide, with Nigoro posting "archaeology lectures" that introduce the world and help you figure out the puzzles. Check out the trailer after the break.

We want to meet the person at which this this Thrustmaster lightsaber sale at Amazon is targeted. "Are you kidding me? $35 for a fake lightsaber handle that I stick on my Wiimote? What sort do you think I am? I'm a grown man! ... Wait, what? It's only $20 now? Well, if you're going to twist my arm ..."

Listen, we're being crabby. Buy it, go ahead, have a great time. But just know that every man has a price at which value outweighs his dignity, and yours is fifteen dollars. ... What? Why are you laughing at our half-off horse armor receipt? What are you trying to say?

PlayStation.Blog readers,

EPIC TRAILER MUSIC! EPIC TRAILER TEXT! EPIC TRAILER!

EPIC TRAILER IS EPIC!

3D Dot Game Heroes, the PlayStation 3 exclusive that promises to inject retro-saccharin goodness directly into your corneas (those are part of your eyes, whippersnappers), has a full video trailer… And here it is! (Well, it’s actually right above this text. We can see how that could be confusing.)

So why should you be excited? Aside from the retro 3D visuals, ear-gratifying musical score, and extremely addicting, nostalgic action-adventure gameplay, you mean? Well… BECAUSE IT HAS TRAILER MUSIC! Did you hear it? Like, the part with the chorus singing in the background? Who cares if the game is awesome (it is, by the way) when you have trailer music with voices chanting in the background!?

Oh, and to address a couple comments that have been popping up in posts relating to 3D Dot Game Heroes:

The huge swords evident in some screens/videos do NOT break the game. It is not a design flaw. You’re only that big when you’re at FULL health (intuitive, right?), and you’ll rarely be at full health for long stretches of time. Moreover, only near the end of the game will you have a sword THAT large, not to mention one with the ability to penetrate geometry (i.e. trees, rocks, etc). Many of the swords cannot and will not swing out all the way in those situations, making size… well… irrelevant. Ask anyone who’s played the game: it’s not about how big it is, it’s about… oh, nevermind. The game DOES look amazing in person; you’ll just have to trust us on this. Even videos often fail to do the game justice. There is no multiplayer component to the game. We’re not currently planning any pre-order bonus items. We view the super cool $39.99 price point as a rather nice bonus. The game has a number of significant improvements over the original Japanese version, including an OPTIONAL HDD install (approximately 1.2gb in size) to reduce/eliminate load times, dozens of new, North American-exclusive load screens that parody popular game box art, and more!

Thanks for watching the trailer and reading this far down. (And “nords!” to any of you who didn’t…I can make snide comments because you’re not actually reading this.)

Please don’t forget to pre-order your copy of 3D Dot Game Heroes, coming to PlayStation 3 on May 11, 2010 with an MSRP of only $39.99!

Have you made a date with the Fat Princess on PS3 lately? If not, perhaps this news will entice you to jump back on: a new patch today will add two new maps to the online PSN game. Frost Bite and Candy Mountain are both snow-themed maps, ripe for cake eating and princess snatching. This update will boost the number of free DLC maps to four.

It appears that with this update, Fat Princess will switch hands to a new developer: Atomic Operations, helmed by former heads of Titan Studios. It seems that they may be working on that long-teased pirate-themed update, as a recent post on the PlayStation.Blog ends with a "Yo ho ho." Of course, we could be wrong, and SCEA's Deborah Mars may simply be saying hi to some cream-filled cakes.

Finally! We now have a use for a handful of the Club Nintendo coins we've been hoarding. Nintendo has announced that Grill Off with Ultra Hand, the WiiWare game in which you cook meat with an extending hand toy, is available through North America's Club Nintendo for 80 coins -- and we just can't resist the intoxicating cocktail of toy nostalgia and virtual grilled meats.

The reward has yet to show up in the Club Nintendo catalog, but we expect to see it soon. See a trailer for Grill Off here.
