Three new games have landed on Xbox Live Games on Demand this week. The games offer some vastly different experiences, so there should be something for everyone. For those who enjoy watching sweaty dudes pummel each other, UFC 2009: Undisputed is the game for you. If you prefer more discreet (perhaps even sneaky) violence, Hitman: Blood Money might be more up your alley. If, on the other hand, you'd rather have your singing talents mocked by a virtual Simon Cowell -- and who wouldn't -- it's Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 all the way. Each game runs $29.99 in North America. As usual, pricing will vary in other regions.

This week on the Japanese Wii Shop, the Virtual Console is host to two rare Konami sequels: Gofer's Ambition Episode 2, a Gradius game exclusive to the MSX platform, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, the real Metal Gear sequel that we didn't see in North America until the limited edition release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

Additionally, Marvelous's World Game Parade brings another game to WiiWare, this time, Bplus's Bit Boy!!, significantly reworked for its Japanese release. The full list of weekly releases follows:
  • Gofer's Ambition Episode 2 (MSX, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
  • Bit Man!! (WiiWare, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
  • Anonymous Notes From the Abyss Chapter 2 (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
  • MySims Camera (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points)
  • Delbo (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points)

There was a great disturbance in the rumor-Force yesterday when VG247 acquired a memo from UK retailer GAME with an alleged upcoming release list for Xbox 360 -- a docket that included a listing for Star Wars: The Old Republic. While the better part of the day was spent hypothesizing about which button would be mapped to "Kill Dude With Lightsaber" (right bumper, of course), BioWare wasted no time in squashing the rumor.

"While we recognize that there are other operating systems and platforms available for games today, our development is specific to the personal computer using the Windows operating system at this time," BioWare's Sean Dahlberg explained. As to why the game was on the Xbox 360 release list, Dahlberg hadn't the foggiest idea, but reassured that the game "should not be on there."

Just like the all-grappling hero of the Just Cause franchise, developer Avalanche Studios is exercising an unusual amount of freedom. Like the freedom to start talking about Just Cause 3 one week after the release of Just Cause 2. Studio head Christofer Sundberg told Develop that we "shouldn't be surprised" to hear another sequel announced. "We are absolutely interested in working with the Just Cause IP again," Sundberg said.

Sundberg is confident that Avalanche would be behind the continued development of the franchise, as well. "The studio lives and breathes the Just Cause franchise, and handing that over to another developer would spoil it," he said. "No one has the attachment to this IP as we do."

He told Develop that after a series of layoffs, the company is being cautious about growth. "We now have a very reasonable staff size in terms of requirements, and we now have a core team who can produce quality and give each project the care it deserves." Well, that core team and a new casual-focused studio. But that's it.

Put monster bucks in your crosshairs with the Top Shot hunting peripheral.

Doublesix's twin-stick shooter Burn Zombie Burn is spreading like a zombie-fueled wildfire. Following the appearance of a PC version of the game on the ESRB database, Doublesix studio head James Brooksby confirmed plans for the release to Big Download. The title was originally developed as a PS3-exclusive, with assistance from Sony's Pub Fund.

There's no definite release date, but the PC port will be distributed on Steam sometime in the next couple of months. As a rather nice bonus, the PC edition should include all of the PS3 version's DLC add-ons.
