In spring 2009, the Western media caused a brouhaha over computer game Rapelay. The game was released in 2006, and CNN is only now covering the controversy. Why? More »
Bill Cosby had that show about kids saying cute stuff for a while, but there seems to be an even more entertaining trend emerging on the internet: kids singing super awesome stuff. First, there was that chorus that sang Phoenix's "Lisztomania" and now (via GameVideos) we have the Gifford Children's Choir singing Jonathan Coulton's wonderful "Still Alive" (also known as "that song from Portal").
You can check out the video past the break, which is kinda dark but you're not really watching it for the visuals so that's okay. Seriously, for as much as we're sick of Portal memes, out of the mouth of babes comes a great version of this song. Of course, it's worth mentioning that the whole song is basically one spoiler -- so if you haven't played the game, you should probably stop reading the internet and fix your situation.

The manner in which Nintendo chose to tell the world of its new handheld, the 3DS, was a strange one: a crudely-worded press release in the middle of the night. No pictures. No logo. Ever wonder why that was? More »

Last year, Australian gamers protested against the government's lack of an adults-only video game rating by...dressing up like zombies and shambling through Sydney. This year, they did it again, only with more zombies. More »

Atlus announced the price point for Trauma Team today, and we believe it improves the game's retail prognosis: It's $39.99. That's less than the retail price of most Wii games for a game with six different, interesting modes of play. Trauma Team will be out May 18.
To mark the announcement, Atlus sent out a dramatic new trailer for the game. It's oddly conflict-oriented, with lots of talk about "final battles" and "wars" and "fights." Such destructive language for a game about helping sick people! That's no kind of bedside manner.

It appears someone has snuck a free movie onto the PlayStation Store. Armored, which is still playing in theaters right now, can be downloaded to your PS3/PSP with a minimal amount of cleverness. Go to the PlayStation Video Store and click the "Search" icon at the top right. Search for "Armored" and you'll find a free download of the movie, compatible with both the PSP and PS3.
If the price of entry (free) isn't incentive enough, consider this: the cast features Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne. That's gotta count for something right? See the trailer after the break.
[Thanks, Ryan!]
wat? didn't this movie just come out in the theater?
We can't imagine there being a good enough reason why you don't own Mass Effect 2 yet but, despite that bleak and joyless world you're living in, now's the chance to right the wrongs. Amazon has both the Xbox 360 ($40) and the PC ($30) versions on sale and, in the case of the latter, even the special edition ($38) has had its price reduced. It's like probing a planet and finding a whole bunch of Element Zero!
... oh, you don't get that reference? Well, if you owned a certain game, you'd probably know what we're talking about. Just saying!

THQ and Vigil announced today that Darksiders is bringing its apocalyptic brand of action adventure to the PC. The game will hit the platform this summer, with THQ offering only a June release window. It's being optimized for the PC, with Vigil's David Adams promising "key features such as user-defined resolutions, interface and both keyboard and game pad control sets."
Darksiders released earlier this year on Xbox 360 and PS3. It received decent reviews -- from both Joystiq and the industry at large -- and it enjoyed healthy sales, something THQ was quite keen to announce. No doubt THQ hopes to see some of that success repeated on the PC.
