Hey everyone… cort dropping in to share a new trailer for Super Mario Galaxy 2 in glorious HD. I noticed the levels look more like the ones in 64. Where you could walk around the world a little more instead of having a pretty narrow path to each star.

By now, many of you have unleashed chaos on all of Olympus in God of War III. As you look back upon your adventure of carnage and glory, you’re probably wondering: how did Sony’s Santa Monica Studio create this experience? Veronica Belmont interviews game director Stig Asmussen and lead combat designer Adam Poole about the entire process, from developing Kratos’ character model and enlivening the Gods to creating the scale of the epic Titan battles. This is a fascinating look back from their perspective now that many of us have enjoyed the game. And, if you haven’t played it yet, don’t worry! The feature is spoiler-free—just gorgeous video and insights from Stig and Adam. After delving into the making of the game, you can also test your reflexes in our God of War III interactive quick-time event challenge.

Driving has been incorporated in so many non-racing titles—from Red Faction: Guerrilla to The Saboteur—that some gamers have questioned if the racing genre has any life of its own left in it. According to Disney’s Black Rock Studios, the answer is a resounding yes! Set in the world of reality TV high-stakes racing, their upcoming game, Split/Second, aims to bring the thrill back to the genre with insanely over-the-top environmental events that can alter the track with each lap.

Remember the ‘80’s? Leg warmers. Ray-Bans. Parachute pants. Ferris Bueller. And 8-bit games! Jump back to the future with the totally rad 3D Dot Game Heroes which returns ordinary people to their classic gaming roots. Enhanced by the PlayStation 3’s ability to provide all the right moves, this gem is sure to make a sudden impact especially when you see the character creator that is sure to remind many of us that it’s hip to be square There’s also a 3D Dot Game Heroes “old school” quiz to measure if you’ve still got the hunger for the 80’s.

With so much news this year about new 3D TV technology coming to your PS3, the Qore team talked to the experts at SCEA and Blitz Games about how the technology actually works and how best to develop for this dimension. This is one feature that’s got the complete picture.

All purchasers also receive a free 3D Dot Game Heroes theme, and as usual, don’t miss Audrey Cleo’s preview of the newest Blu-ray releases for April 2010.

Look for Episode 23 tomorrow.

#wii What new flavor of mushroom does Super Mario Galaxy 2 offer? The delectable rock 'shroom, which gives Mario the ability to turn himself into a boulder and bowl over Bowser's minions. That just one of many power-ups highlighted in this new trailer. More »

Back in October 2008, Nintendo of Japan showed off a ton of Wii games all at once. They're still not all out yet. Some, like Cosmic Walker, remain largely mysterious, while we're only recently hearing renewed discussion about games like Span Smasher (now called FlingSmash). One of the weirdest games from that already-weird lineup was Kensax, a minigame collection in which competition was based on achieving search engine queries with greater results than your opponents.

Nintendo has since renamed the game to And-Kensaku, opened a website (earworm warning!) and announced a new partner for the search engine: none other than Google. Using a set of 10,000 words provided by Google on the disc (with more available by going online with the game), players will compete in activities like guessing which words are more popular, doing "and" searches with given words and your own words and using the number of results to add stairs to a staircase as you climb it, and passing a bomb around that explodes in the hands of the player with the fewest search terms. Yes, it's really, really strange.

And-Kensaku will be released in Japan on April 29. There's no word on an international release, though it's entirely possible that Nintendo of America will bring it to E3 and then never mention it again, like Line Attack Heroes.

Hey, life in Final Fantasy XIV's lush, dangerous world of Eorzea isn't all boss battles and summons, you know? Sometimes, folks need to slow their roll, and go for a stroll in the city. Maybe slice up a few onions. Hit up the bakery for some fresh-baked goods. Is it terribly exciting stuff? Not particularly -- but it's the subject of the game's latest trailer, which we've posted after the jump.

The non-combat world still looks pretty interesting, but a little action would have gone a long way. For instance, you know who could have helped slice up those onions? Odin. Just get yourself a pile of Sweet Vidalias, pull a quick Zantetsuken, and then boom -- you got yourself a delicious Awesome Blossom[TM].

Since its release, Capcom has diligently updated Monster Hunter Freedom Unite with free DLC; unfortunately, the free updates come to an end this week, with the release of five additional missions. Promising to be "some of the most epic quests" in the game so far, these four-player missions can be downloaded for free from the in-game DLC menu. The final missions will be available on April 2nd.

If you're still playing the game, and have AdHocParty installed on your PS3, you may want to participate in a Play With Capcom session this Friday. For more details, visit the Capcom-Unity blog.

Filed under: X3F TV Chances are you already know whether or not you'll purchase Mega Man 10. For retro gaming junkies -- particularly those who love punishment -- it's pretty much a no-brainer. On the other hand, those that enjoy the simple mechanics but not the bone-crushing difficulty might have a harder time pulling the trigger. Thankfully, that choice is a little easier this time around than it was for Mega Man 9. Unlike its 2008 predecessor, Mega Man 10 possesses an Easy mode. While it may not take all the challenge out of the game, it definitely seems to lighten things up a bit.

When it was first announced in April 2009, Six Days in Fallujah, from developer Atomic Games, raised more than a few eyebrows. Peace groups, veterans and some families of killed American soldiers lambasted the studio and its then publishing partner Konami for turning the unpopular war into an interactive entertainment experience. Taking place within a six-day span during the gruesome November 2004 campaign of Operation Phantom Fury, Six Days in Fallujah attempts to tell the true stories of multiple veterans who experienced the ordeal and, according to Atomic, several of them collaborated with the developer to help create the title.

Speaking with Joystiq during PAX East 2010, Atomic president Peter Tamte offered a lengthy update on the game's development progress. He addressed in detail its tone and the potential controversies inherent in its subject matter. November 2004 is still considered the most brutal single month of the Iraq War in terms of US casualties, and there are questions about how Six Days in Fallujah will handle the deaths of real people. The game not only has a responsibility to be respectful, it has a responsibility to be truthful.

If you're sick of being mired in a world that always makes way too much sense, we're sorry to report that Zeno Clash:Ultimate Edition, ACE Team's bizarre first-person shooter/brawler, has been held up from its debut on XBLA, originally slated for ... right now. Writing on the company's message board, co-founder Andres Bordeu said "Yes, it's been pushed back a tad. Sorry about that to everyone. It should come out early April."

So let Father-Mother dry those tears. It sounds like things are going to be getting plenty weird soon enough.

You're probably sitting around watching a rerun of The Hunt for Red October on cable right now, wondering aloud, "When are we going to see another decent submarine game?" You're even practicing your Sean Connery accent, which is good because, come this June, you'll have a chance to use it. 505 Games, who recently wowed us with both Backbreaker and Naughty Bear, are releasing Naval Assault: The Killing Tide on June 15 exclusively on the Xbox 360, just in time for a Submarine Summer.

The game is "arcade style" according to the press release, meaning you Silent Hunter fans aren't going to get all the realism you want. Instead you'll have to settle for the historically accurate naval warzones of WWII and " an arsenal of faithfully recreated U.S. Naval submarines." Those subs will be armed with torpedoes and a deck gun, the better to take out enemy subs, ships, and planes. Though there aren't any in the gallery below, this game had better involve some periscopes ... or else.

Gamers can play through the 30 solo missions after they launch from New York, or join three other players online for some multiplayer action.
